IT'S HALLOWEEN B*TCHES
And the babes are at a Halloween party!!
Some fun facts:
-Everyone is wearing a matching costume with the person they grew up with; Bailey and Bohan as an angel and demon, Corey and Skylar as Chucky and Chucky's Bride, and Milo is matching with Silas, though he's not pictured, as Sonic and Shadow
-Skylar's fake tattoo says "Corey" instead of Chucky
-The only ones meant to be in the photo were the ✨bad girls club✨ (not their actual name), but Skylar pulled Corey in and Bohan is photo bombing
-Silas is the one taking the photo
-Bailey is absolutely smashed and Bohan isn't far behind, but no one else in the photo drinks for a variety of reasons
-Milo was the one who made everyone come to this party, he just wants to enjoy life with his friends
-Yes, that's a real knife. No, I don't know why he's mildly threatening Corey- but Corey doesn't seem to mind

((Character Interaction, For Personal Notes))
Additional Notes: Part of the way through writing this I realized that I had already written a Silas/Milo confession/coming out scene, but this one is different I promise lol
Tumblr media
Silas leaned lightly over the balcony, arms crossed but loose, foot casually over the other in a relaxed stance. There was a small, content smile on his face as he gazed up at the dark night sky.
As much as he prefers their quiet New Years celebrations at home, filled with Korean traditions and cozy family vibes, he quite liked this one as well. His dad puts a lot of work into this gala every year, and every year it pays off. His colleagues and staff rave about how much fun they had the whole year, and there is always a large spike in donations for their research. It was enough to fill Silas with a sense of pride, knowing that they were making a real difference, not just drinking the night away.
And he really was enjoying himself, even if the date he brought had ditched him about an hour into the party. He knew he was lucky enough to even get that hour with her, and he felt it. Even just an hour with Bailey was enough to put a warmth in his heart that over powered the brisk wind of night.
One would think that having your date run off with your closest friend would, perhaps, stir up some kind of ill-feeling, like jealousy or betrayal, but honestly all he could think about was how cute they both were dancing together- or how happy they looked, stifling laughter fits every time their eyes met. It was a shame that they weren't each other's type, otherwise they really would be the perfect couple.
Silas thinks that over, giving a small chuckle. Maybe he should be concerned? Maybe he wasn't actually attracted to Bailey, if he'd let her go that easily? But it just seemed so silly to feel that way when he loved seeing them happy together.
The drapes fluttered in the wind, a soft sound accompanying the distant chatter of party guests. He watched as the shadows danced in the glow of the light casted on the ground, and took note of one growing darker, moving towards him.
Silas turned to the open balcony doors, his content smile growing even softer. "Hey" He greeted, barley above a whisper.
"Hey" Milo responded in a similar fashion, fidgeting uncertainly but otherwise unmoving. He looked pensive, unsure of himself.
Silas holds out his hand towards his small friend, an unpressured offering. He seems to consider it for a moment before taking a deap breath and shuffling over, taking Silas' hand lightly but not quite looking at him yet.
Silas interlocks their fingers, giving his hand a squeeze. "What's up? Where's Bailey?" He asks gently.
Milo stares at his feet, seemingly unwilling to look anywhere else. "She- I, uhm. I wanted...well, they thought-" He swallows. "With Skylar, I think." He finally says, dejected.
"Oh" Silas frowns slightly. "I'm sorry"
Milo finally looks up, giving his friend a look of confusion and something else Silas can't really pin point. "For what?"
Silas echos the confused expression "You sounded sad, I thought...well, I thought maybe she ditched you."
"Oh" Milo says quietly, mostly to himself as he quickly looks away. "No..."
Silas' brows furrow deeper- he squeezes Milos hand again, trying to catch his gaze again.
"I wanted to come find you" He continues just as quietly. Then, a heavy sigh just before looking up again, an odd smile on his face. "Just to...to let you know it's almost midnight! You should come back to the party and...and..." His smile wobbled, and Silas swore his eyes were shining. "And yeah-" his voice breaks slightly on the words, and Silas frowns fully.
Milo's eyes dart around the balcony, unable to look at one thing for long. "You probably wanna find Bailey for the countdown, yeah?"
Silas studies his friend for a moment, but feels completely lost. Something happened, he was sure, but it was clear Milo didn't want to talk about it. Pushing these kinds of things never worked out well for him in the past....still, he didn't want to ignore it.
Instead, he puts his arm around his small friend, gently bringing him closer until their sides are comfortably tucked together. "Nah." He tries to put something lighthearted in his tone, something to let his friend know everything was ok.
"I was gonna stay out here, enjoy the fireworks...most of the guests watch them on the lawn or in the garden, but they're better up here." He smirks a bit at Milo. "But I'm sure I don't have to tell you that."
Milo scoffs lightly. "You're lucky I even unlocked the doors for you."
His smile was just a ghost, but it was enough to make Silas beam in response. "I am!"
When Milo looks at him again, Silas' smile only grows brighter, making his own smile appear a little more. "I was joking"
"Maybe- but it's true!" When Milo only scrunches his nose in response, Silas squishes his friend even closer into his side. "I'm lucky to have you!"
The party trailed off into silence, and they knew the countdown was about to start.
10
"I'm lucky to have you too, Silas" Milo still sounded nervous, and Silas rubbed his friends arm comfortingly.
9
"I'm really glad you're here, these parties really weren't the same without you, y'know?"
8
Milo swallows again, laughs nervously. "I...I can imagine."
7
"I really missed you too..." Milo continues.
6
"There was just...just so much I had wanted to tell you..."
5
"And...and I know we called all the time but, some things you can't just say over the phone..."
4
"Yeah, I get it" Silas smiles down at him. "There was a bunch I wanted to tell you too, but I didn't really know how to."
3
"Sorry seeing me again was such a shock" Silas laughs "I forgot how different I would look to you!"
2
"It's- it's ok! I wasn't bad-surprised or anything! Just...you looked so...y'know...you're really hot!" Milo shuts his mouth with a click, face growing red.
1
Silas just laughs, eyes crinkling with true joy. He leans over, brushing Milo's hair away from his face before placing a soft kiss on his forehead.
"Silas-" Milo says weakly, barely audible over the countdown.
Silas doesn't pull away, simply pressing their foreheads together as fireworks start lighting up the sky. "Happy New Year, Miley" He says softly.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! The party erupts behind them-
"I think I'm a girl!!" Milo shouts at the same time as the crowd, but loud enough for each word to be perfectly clear to Silas.
Party poppers and noise makers go off all around them, accompanied by shouts of joy.
Silas startles, pulling away- he looks at Milo with wide eyes, and Milo startles just the same. He looks up at Silas with a completely horrified expression, as if he was even more surprised by his own words than Silas was.
"That's not- that's not what I meant to say-"
"It's ok-"
"No, no that wasn't what I was supposed to say!"
"Miley-"
"I...I practiced! This was the perfect moment and I just-"
"Miles...."
"I ruined it" Milo was almost in tears now, gripping the sides of his face in distress.
"Hey..." Silas said softly, gently taking Milo's hands in his own to prevent any injury to his face or breathing tube. "It's ok" He reassured, using his thumb to trace light circles on each of Milo's palms. "You can still tell me, nothing is ruined."
"I can't" Milo protested with a weak, wobbly voice. "I didn't even say what I said right! I can't do this-"
"You can- Just take a deep breath..."
Milo breaths in, but shakes his head softly as he releases it, the tears falling down.
"Maybe...maybe if it's too hard, you can tell me what you meant by what you said? Is that....easier, or harder than the other one?"
"I didn't mean it" Milo hiccups "not like that, I didn't mean- I'm not a girl."
"Okay" Silas says softly, gently urging him to continue.
"But I'm not...I'm not a boy, either" Milo whispers through tears.
"That's- that's ok? You don't have to be...you know we'll all love you just the same..." Silas moved his hands up Milo's arms, rubbing his upper arms soothingly.
"I- I know" Milo says, voice still wobbling. "I don't know why I said that...especially... especially now of all times, I..." He swallows again, wiping tears away. "I panicked?"
"How come?" Silas asks softly, hoping maybe Milo had calmed enough to explain- hoping it would help him somehow.
Milo sighs, thunking his head onto Silas' chest, probably to avoid looking at him any longer. "I think...I think I got in my own head about...if this would change anything? If maybe..." He brings his arms up, hands shaking as they twisted in Silas' shirt. "maybe you wouldn't like me, like this"
"Oh" Silas responds, quiet and breathy as the air leaves his lungs.
Part of him had forgotten about his talk with Milo from before- about why he really went to live with his mom. He didn't forget on purpose but...maybe he had, a bit. It made his head feel funny everytime he thought of it, an uncomfortable mix of unrecognizable emotions.
He loved Milo, he really really loved him. But the thought of him giving up his father because he couldn't face his emotions is...rough to think about, at the very least. And knowing it was, in some way, Silas' fault? That's a guilt he'll never unlearn. But guilt wasn't the only feeling there, and he couldn't even begin to comprehend how deap that one goes- pushing it away felt like the best option.
Being reminded of it now left a stinging sensation in his chest, not necessarily a bad feeling just....a strange ghost of unpacked emotion. Silas swallows down the lump in his throat, heart suddenly beating so fast it was starting to make him nauseous.
Milo, perhaps feeling the change, looks up at him with a frown. He searches for something in his friends expression, and apparently having found it, pulls away.
For a few moments, Milo just stares off into the distance of the balcony. Seeing his small friend suddenly so calm, so...resigned, made the emotion-storm brewing in Silas' chest grow unbearably stronger- he took deap, deliberate breaths in an effort to appease it somehow.
When Milo turns back, he has a small smile of unknown emotion on his face. But he looks content, in some way, and it confuses Silas even more. "Should probably go rescue Bailey" Milo says, voice almost teasing "Can't imagine what Skylar's gotten them into"
It was an out. Milo was giving him an out. Did he want an out? "Yeah" Silas responded, trying to find his voice again. "I can see the headlines already" He joked weakly, still unsure.
Milo gives him an odd half smile, pushing off the the balcony rail and making his way towards the doors, Silas following a few steps behind.
The storm in his chest slowly unwinds as he watches Milo move through the crowd, elegantly dodging half-drunk party guests. Before he even realizes what he's doing, Silas has reached out towards his friend- grabbing his hand lightly enough to leave plenty of room for objection.
Milo doesn't turn or even pause in his movement, but he does link their fingers together as he moves deeper into the party. It's the last bit of comfort Silas needed for the storm to dissipate fully, and he sighs in relief.
As the pair move towards a clearing, Silas catches up with Milo and syncs their steps, walking side by side with clasped hands.
They survey the room, and eventually spot the two sitting on the couch in a back corner. Milo pulls him towards the clearing infront of their friends, but pauses part of the way there- locking eyes with Skylar, who's head was resting on Bailey's shoulder. Skylar pokes Bailey, getting her attention before pointing towards him and Silas. She looks up, looking over the room a bit before finally finding the pair, a smile spreading on her face as she waves at them. Milo waves back slightly, Silas takes that moment to lean into him- bumping shoulders.
"I would" Silas says quietly.
Milo blinks, turning his head to look at Silas questioningly.
"I'd like you, however you are." He clarifies.
Before Milo has time to respond, Silas drags him towards the two on the couch, smile bright once again.

((Character Interaction, For Personal Notes))
Additional Notes: this comes directly before the last post I made, I just felt like writing that one first. But here is some more context ✨
ALSO this part of the story is loosely based off of an experience I had in middle school- someone blurting out super traumatic information without caring at all is....real rough. Enjoy?
----------
Skylar pushed open the stall door with his elbow, wiping the bile from his mouth. You'd think after roughly two years of this he'd be used to it by now, but nothing can prepare you for those nasty ass pills they force-feed every student each morning (they were just as bad coming up then going down- but he knew better than to complain about that part)
Something told him that maybe he should have actually taken the meds today- that he might need them. Everyone was acting super strange from the moment he walked through the gate this morning- and it spelled trouble.
But he hadn't kept the pills down since the very first time he was forced to take them in 6th grade, and he wasn't gonna start now.
As he washed his hands he became acutely aware of muffled voices growing annoyingly loud, as two girls he was unfamiliar with pushed open the bathroom door mid-conversation, letting it slam behind them.
"- can't believe it..."
"I know, he was so anti-pig too, I never thought he would let-"
Both girls stopped in their tracks upon noticing Skylar, drying his hands and trying to ignore them. "Holy shit..." The first girl said under her breath, nudging her friend in the arm.
The second girl looked between Skylar and her friend, eyes growing wide. "Holy shit" she echoed, much louder than the first. "What are you doing here??"
Skylar, realizing the girl was talking to him now, gave her a bored questioning look. It had been over a year since anyone had questioned him using the girls bathroom, and he really thought they were over this by now. "Pissing." He lied flatly. "What are you doing here?"
"No-" the more quiet of the girls interjected. "Not the bathroom, at school..."
"Yeah-" her friend spoke up again "shouldn't you be at the-"
Suddenly the quieter girl gasped, clutching her friends arm in what seemed like a small moment of panic. "He doesn't know."
Both girls looked at each other in shock, then slowly back at Skylar...who was completely irritated at this point. "Know what?"
The girls looked suddenly very uneasy, and a bit afraid. Neither of them spoke up, and it was clear they weren't going to. Skylar huffed and pushed past them, leaving the bathroom.
Something was definitely going on, but Sky refused to let it linger in his mind. Fuck them if they think they're going to get to him- he was above whatever drama everyone was cooking up. He knew how to handle people like this- he plastered on a smile, willing away any negative aura as he feigned the look of someone just so happy to be here!
He tried to ignore the odd glances and hushed voices that followed him down the hall, swallowing down his unease until he didn't feel it anymore, 'happily' making his way to his locker.
Sky put his finger on the scanner, waiting for the sound of the inner lock unlatching before he swung the door open, picking up his bag and flinging it over his shoulder.
There was a small nagging in the back of his mind, the feeling that something was wrong, and he suddenly found himself wishing Corey was here with him. Just to carry my bag, obviously. He thought to himself, trying not to sink into the sad hollow feeling. Corey always made school so much easier, just by being there...he might have thought Sky was confident, but that's only because Corey's never seen Skylar without Corey around.
Surely he was here somewhere, Sky thought absently. They didn't run into each other so much anymore, but they did still both go here. Sky could find him if he really wanted to...and who's to say running into him wasn't a total accident! 'Oh my gosh, I'm sooo sorry I ran right into you- Wait, Corey??? I didn't know you still went here!'
Skylar smiled to himself for a moment before shaking his head. He wouldn't actually do that. There was a damn good reason he stopped talking to him- and Corey was far better off for it.
"Hey, Kelly!" Skylar turned towards the voice calling his last name, a small group of his 'friends' walking towards him.
There was a guy infront who had called for him, Sky couldn't remember his name, and three girls following behind him.
The girls had always been nice to him, but he hadn't bothered to learn their names either. Stuff like that wasn't all that important to Skylar- but he really did like them...sometimes.
Skylar smiled sweetly at them, giving a small wave before turning his attention towards the guy infront of him. "Hey." He greeted flatly, though his expression hadn't changed.
"Did you hear the news?" The guy said back, the girls expressions suddenly becoming fearful as they frantically tried to get him to stop talking. He ignored them.
Skylar signed at the display, accepting that he was gonna get pulled into this drama afterall. "What is it this time?" He asked half-heartedly with an accompanying eye roll.
"Dude." The guy responded with a barely contained grin, seemingly happy that Skylar was going to hear the news from him. "Lucca's fucking dead."
What.
"Guess they found his body last week, didn't tell no one. Serves him right for being a fucking pig-lover though, right?"
What??
"Oh my god Noah shut the fuck up!" One of the girls hissed, grabbing "Noah's" arm tightly and forcing him to look at her death glare.
All of a sudden the walls caved in around him, stealing the air away from Skylar's lungs- he blinked at the guy in disbelief, willing the suddenly smoke-filled air to clear enough for Sky to see again. What did he just say?
"I thought he'd be happy!" Noah continued, tone unchanging. "He can talk to his little emo friend again, now that his brother is out of the way"
He's lying. Skylar's inner voice hissed, unwilling to process what he was hearing. He's lying, there's no way Lucca's dead-
"We weren't supposed to say anything!" One of the girls protested.
Skylar could feel the cement filling his chest cavity- with every breath it got heavier and heavier, the rubble filled ground cracking beneath his weight. Is this what drowning feels like?
"Ever hear of breaking news gently??" The girl with a vice grip on Noah's arm hissed through gritted teeth.
The cracks beneath him must have sprung a leak, because before he knew it everything was engulfed in water, the distant voices sounding warped and distorted.
The group continued to bicker, but he could no longer follow the plot.
This isn't funny
He looked at the faces of his friends, expecting to see pain- but there was none. They talked and fought and felt fine.
Why am I the only one drowning?
He blinked slowly, his body heavy and mind groggy. Skylar lifted his head best he could, looking out at the sea of people. All of their eyes were on him, and they looked wrong.
This isn't real
As he scanned the crowd, vision fuzzy, a pair of eyes met his. He blinked, but they remained.
His guidance counselor was here, almost appearing out of no where- she looked out of breath and her hair was a mess, almost as if she had ran there. As she locked eyes with Skylar, her expression changed- what was once panic now flooded with horror, as if realizing she was too late.
If she's here...
Skylar swallowed down the suffocating lump in his throat, realizing she must have come to warn him. Then it must be true
She gestured to him, face becoming a careful expression resembling compassion. Skylar thought maybe she was saying something to him, but he couldn't hear her through the watery static.
It seemed like the counselor wanted him to follow her, but Sky just stared at her completely helpless- his body steadily filling with cement.
She moved towards Skylar slowly, seemingly understanding the predicament he was in. She gently put her arm around him in an attempt at guidance, not as crushing of a weight as the boy expected.
Skylar let the counselor guide him away from the crowed, feet shuffling over the cracks. Normally her touch, anyone's touch, would feel like stabbing hot iron- but he couldn't feel anything anymore. Just...sinking. Really, he was surprised she could reach him at all, surely he was halfway through the ground by now, the murky dark waters dragging him deeper and deeper....yet his feet remained on solid ground.
That was somehow worse than falling.
-------
More Notes: I had planned on writing more, but I've lost the brain for it 😅 might fill in the missing middle part later

((Character Interaction, For Personal Notes))
He found Skylar just inside the woody grove, sat on an old dilapidated swing set. It was sunk so low into the ground that the boys legs were stretched out infront of him on the mossy ground, vines and thistles cutting from all angles.
Gianni hadn't realized the island even had any playgrounds- functional or otherwise. No, it was pure chance that he even found Skylar- at least, that's what he thought. Really he had no idea what made him come here, or how he knew where to look. It had just felt right, that the boy would come here of all places.
"Your counselor is worried about you." Gianni stopped just a few feet away from the swing set, crouching down to meet Skylar's level. He didn't know what to say. He didn't know why she called him of all people- his track record for taking care of kids was 'o for two' so far, and it didn't seem to be getting any better.
He still wore his funeral suit, stained and ripped.
Skylar hadn't yet looked up to see him, messy blonde bangs covering his face from view and shoulders hunched up, clasping onto the rusty chains of the swing in a death's grip. It looked like something out of a horror movie- the moment where the protagonist gets lured in by their kind heart, only to get eaten up by the monster-possessed kid.
Gianni didn't fool himself into thinking he was anything kind, though- if he got got, it would be poetic justice being served.
"She doesn't care about me, if that's what you think" Came Skylar's quiet voice, wobbly undertones hidden by a sharp harshness that sounded a bit too forced.
The man goes to respond but is stopped dead in his tracks, mouth still hanging open slightly, as Skylar finally looks at him.
The boy peers through tangled bangs, eyes so intense it actually sets cold shivers down Gianni's spine. He knew the kid could be scary, perhaps unintentionally, from time to time...but he had never seen him like this.
If you asked the man what Death Itself looked like- he'd have a pretty good answer now.
"She's afraid of me. They all are."
Gianni swallows down the unease, knowing full well it's misplaced. The kid could be a bit odd sometimes, but he wasn't anymore dangerous than anyone else on the island- he was just a kid.
Gianni shakes his head slowly, brows furrowed. "Maybe she's afraid, but that don't mean she don't care." He gets up, slowly making his way to the other swing seat. "She called me, after all." He sits on the seat, wood green and warped from becoming part of the earth. Gianni leans to his side against the chain, looking over to the boy. "How'd she know to do that if she don't care?"
Skylar blinks a couple times in some kind of consideration, before suddenly whipping his head around to face Gianni, eyes set in a harsh glare. "That's Corey's seat."
Gianni, caught completely off guard by the sudden tonal shift, can only stammer in response. "I'm sorry- I...I didn't-" he goes to get up, but Skylar stops him, small hand grasping at his suit sleeve.
"Where is Corey?" The boys tone was a lot darker now- eeriness replaced by a murderous stare.
Gianni slowly realizes he may have made a big mistake here- he should have known that, even if the boys weren't talking to each other at the moment, Skylar would still be fiercely protective over Corey.
He really thought leaving Corey at home was for the best, but...
"Did you seriously leave your grieving son home all alone, to- to what? Stop me from blowing up the school?? Is that what they think is gonna happen? You think I'm crazy and out of control or something? You think I'm gonna snap, huh???" Skylar throws his hands in the air as he stands up from the swing, vines ripping his cuts into small gashes. "Better send Father of the Year Gallo! He'll fix it! Sure, he couldn't keep his wife from snapping, or his oldest from defecting- and yeah he left his suicidal son all by himself after the worst fucking day of his life, probably- but he's such a good. Fucking. Dad."
Gianni stares at the boy, dumbfounded. All he can do is shrink in on himself, deflate into the swing and collapse over his knees as the words set in- he left Corey alone. On the worst day of his life. There was no fighting back, no way he could ever refute the claims. It was true.
Skylar breathes unsteadily, hands shaking as his emotional high crashes down. His eyes water and he looks away from the man crumpled on the forest floor.
"I'm not the one who needs you." Skylar half-whispers, keeping the tears from running. "Go home."
Gianni combs shaking hands through his hair, nails scrapping painfully against his scalp. He focused on the burn of it, and on the sharp bits of pain that came with every dried gel snag. "I'm not what he needs" He says faintly, mostly to himself.
He hears feet shuffling to his left, and knows Skylar must have heard him.
"Tough luck. You're all he's got now." Skylar kicks Gianni in the leg, not hard enough to hurt (that much) but enough to get his attention. He looks up at the kid, defeated. "I'm not babying a grown man. If you're not what he needs, then become it. Or get lost already." Skylar furrows his brows, but his gaze no longer looks deadly. He looked like a kid again, annoyed but not dangerous. A bit of light had returned, and Gianni couldn't help but feel it was because the kid already knew what choice he would make. "You gonna leave him an orphan, or what?"
He looked at the boy for a moment, feeling a weird sense of pride in the way he was taking charge, even if it was against him. "I never knew how to be a father."
Skylar just shrugs back at him, uncaring. "You'll learn."
"It's too late for that- I already ruined it"
"Only ruined if you give up, bozo"
Gianni scrunches his brow, considering. He stands, body feeling overly heavy, but he doesn't give into the pull of it. He straightens, latching onto whatever determination he can find. "Okay. I'll try" He sighs out despair, hoping to get rid of it altogether "For Corey."
The man goes to leave, starting to walk out of the forest before quickly realizing the boy isn't following. He turns, looking back. "Aren't you coming too?"
Skylar doesn't look at him, eyes cast towards the sunken swing set. "Nah. I'm gonna stay here awhile"
Gianni frowns. He had failed what he came here to do as well, it seemed. No big surprise there. "You could come back to the house with me- I know Corey would love to see you."
Skylar scrunches his nose at that, but doesn't take his eyes away from where he last sat. "He needs his dad right now, I'd only get in the way."
"You wouldn't-"
"You abandoned him to come to my 'rescue'. Don't tell me I wouldn't."
"I didn't mean to leave him behind, I just thought...." Gianni sighs, defeatedly. He knew better than to argue- some kids needed more attention than others, that's just how things go sometimes. And Skylar was one of those kids. Troubled.
"Are you going to be ok?" He asks instead.
"I'm always ok." Skylar finally looks at him, smirking dangerously. "Wether or not they will is a better question." Skylar laughs at Gianni's worried expression, kicking a rock at a tree for fun. It hits the trunk with enough force to break away a piece of bark- and Skylar seems satisfied with that. "Relax. I'm kidding." His smile falls a bit, becoming more sad than amused, but his eyes still sparkle with the same energetic danger. "Takes more than some guy dying to knock me off my rocker."
'Some guy' Gianni frowns, but doesn't question the choice of words. He knew better than to pick apart the way someone grieved. "Call me when you can, kid. I'll answer. Promise."
He doesn't start to walk off again until he gets the nod from Skylar, somewhat confident the kid will be ok.
Still, it took everything Gianni had in him not to look back.

Bailey, unable to complete a mission herself, hands it off to Corey who is unconfident in his abilities
Bailey:*places her hand on Corey's shoulder* You can do this- I know you can
Corey: *looking at Bailey with a pained expression of doubt and guilt* How-ow are you so sssure?
Bailey: *looking at Corey with full serious confidence* I trust you.
Bailey: *grips both of Corey's upper arms so they fully face each other* I trust that no matter what happens, you'll make the best choices available to you- and that's what we need right now
Bailey: We need the kid from the "wrong side of town" who's seen shit and knows shit and is still going despite how the world treated him-
Bailey: Because you're strong, but more importantly- kind *She drops her arms, the point made, not wanting to box Corey into a choice*
Corey looks up at Bailey in baffled amazement
Corey: *in a hushed voice, talking mostly to himself* ...will you be my mom?
Bailey: *crinkles her nose in amusement and partial awkwardness* I would....but I'm pretty sure you've slept with my brother
Corey: *looking off to the side, still in his own head* that wou-would make things a bit weird....
Bailey pats Corey's shoulder in amused sympathy

Corey and Skylar sitting together in Leif's lab
Sky: and then this dude comes up to me, like, 'are you even a man?'
Corey: Seriously?
Sky: and like, I didn't even know what to say- cuz obviously I'm a guy
Corey: yeah
Sky: but like?? A man? I don't feel like I'm, y'know, qualified? Boy, sure, dude definitely- but man?? Is that like, required?
Corey: I d-don't think I'm q-q-qual-qualified either. When I think of a man, I th-think of like...a grown up ad-dult person.
Sky: We're grown-up-adult-people
Corey: Yeah but not really. We should ask an a-adult ad-dult.
Leif walks in the room, not paying them any attention
Sky: Is Toad-Man an adult adult?
Corey: He's like. Forty. Right?
Sky: ...he's barely thirty
Corey: *contemplative frown* oh.
Sky: LEAF!
Leif: *turns towards them both with an unimpressed look* I told you I'm not going to respond to that.
Sky: ok but like. You just did. So.
Corey: *looking at Leif in pouty puzzled interest* Are you a man?
Leif: *slow blink*
Leif: *walks right back out the room*
Sky: Results inconclusive.

Sometime after Bohan finds Bailey again/learns she's trans
Bohan: *gripping Bailey's shoulders like a lifeline* I am not emotionally prepared to have a baby sister. If someone makes you cry I will commit unspeakable crimes.
Bailey: I'm older than you
Bohan: *one hand raised as if testifying but with more sass* We have no proof of this
Milo and Silas at the same time: She's definitely older
Bohan: I hate all of you.

Milo: *bursts through door*
Silas: Oh hey Miley, what's-
Milo: I like you.
Silas: I like you too?
Milo: I've liked you since we were kids, and I didn't know it at first, but as soon as I figured out what the feeling was I knew we couldn't live together so I left- I mean the medical study wasn't made up!! I did actually go through the trial tests and honestly that really sucked but the only reason I said yes and moved in with my mom is because I was afraid if my dad found out how I liked you, than he wouldn't adopt you- and you needed a dad more than I did...
Silas: Miley-
Milo: And I know that's messed up, ok? I know! That...might be why I also went almost no contact with you and I'm so sorry but I didn't know what I was supposed to do!!
Silas: Miles, breath-
Milo: I thought the feeling would go away- that I'd eventually just like someone else and everything would be fine and then maybe I could come home!
Milo: But you're the only person I had ever liked, and when I did come back home and saw you again after all that time it got so much worse
Milo: I mean have you seen yourself??? When did you get hot?? It's not fair!
Silas: *awkward laugh* Can I talk now?
Milo: I am unfortunately not finished-
Milo: So because you were the only person I've ever liked I thought I was gay- I mean that's a pretty typical conclusion isn't it?? I've known I was gay since I was like nine!
Milo: But then.....
Milo: *fidgeting uncomfortably*
Milo: ....well then there was Bailey...
Milo: I know you like Bailey, the way I like you- and I thought that was great actually! Because you are really cute together and I want you both to have someone when I'm not around anymore-
Silas: Milo!
Milo: Which is not the point of this conversation at all
Milo: But I maybe. Y'know. Like Bailey
Milo: Which is really freaking confusing!! And terrifying! I don't want to hurt anyone!!.I thought I was gay and Bailey is not a man I have never thought of her that way at all but I still like her and that's confusing!
Milo: Because I like you like a boy likes a boy and I like her like a girl likes a girl and I don't know what that means but I'm freaking out and I have no one to talk to because even after years of not talking you're still my best friend!
Silas: ....
Milo: ....
Silas: ....is that everything?
Milo: *sniff* I don't know. *Hugs self* Maybe.
Milo: *avoiding looking at Silas* ....are you mad at me?
Silas: *gets up* *pulls Milo into his chest and rests his chin on his head* Never.
Silas: ...though I don't really understand, either... I don't really need to understand to know I'm here for you with whatever you got going on, always.
.....
Silas: ...the old man's gonna have a stroke though.
Milo: He already knows about you...and Bailey...
Silas: That's- not what I'm concerned about...
Milo: *tilts head up to look at him* What do you mean??
Silas: You know he's gonna support you no matter what- but damn if he's not gonna cry at his bank account when he learns he maaaaay have to fund another trans kids journey....
Milo: *thunks head back down* I don't think I'm ready for 'Passionate-But-Confused Supportive Father'
Silas: *shrugs* he doesn't gotta know
Milo: *quietly and ruefully* he's gonna know...

Corey at Reubens cafe
Reuben: What can I get you hun?
Corey: *holds up four fingers*
Reuben: Number four- What kind of cheese on that?
Corey: *confused*....sl-sl-sliced?
Reuben: ....yes, it's sliced? What kind do you want?
Corey: ??
Reuben: ??
Corey: ...ch-cheese?
Reuben: ????
Corey: ????
Reuben: Uhm. We have American, and swiss...pepper jack...?
Corey: .....
Reuben: ??
Corey: .....
Corey: THERE ARE DIFERENT KINDS OF CHEESE??
Reuben: *staring wide-eyed* Oh- did you...
Reuben: .....
Reuben: *fake-serious* sit down. I'm making you a cheese platter!!! *Disappears into the back*
........
Corey sitting with Bohan at a booth
Reuben: *carrying platter* hhhokay- we don't have a whole lot, but- it's a good start. And everything's labeled!! *Sits platter in front of Corey*
Corey: N-none of it's pl-pl-plastic?
Reuben: Ah. I know what they've been feeding you now.
Corey: *tries a piece* *eyes go wide*
Bohan: can I-? *Tries to take a piece*
Corey: *slaps his hand away and shoves all of it in his mouth at once*
Reuben: ...so you. Like them, I take it 😅
Corey: Why aren't we allowed to have this???
Corey: What cou-could we pos-possibly do with cheese?
Bohan: probably more of a cutting costs thing than it is a 'harm to others' thing. I mean, I'd argue plastic cheese is more of a weapon.
Corey: .....
Corey: I wish Sk-Sk-Skylar was here. He's g-g-gonna be so mad
Bohan: Can't you just take him some?
Corey: I'm n-not all-allowed to have an-anything on me- other than cl-clothes.
Reuben: Wait- you couldn't bring anything with you? Don't you live here part time?
Corey: Leif had to b-buy me all n-new stuff...I just leave it here w-when I go back.
Bohan: What about shit like homework?
Corey: I have to st-stay here until it's fin-finished, I can't bring it w-with me.
Corey: S-som-somet-times Leif can br-bring things ac-cross but it has to be le-legally just-tified. And it's d-difficult to do...
Bailey: I can bring it for you.
Reuben: *jumps* jesusfuckingghostballs-
Bohan: Where the shit did you come from???
Bailey: I was sitting here first.
Corey: C-could you r-r-really??
Bailey: Yeah sure, I've made the trip before
Bailey: You'd be surprised what you can get away with when everyone writes you off as invisible
Bohan: You've been to the island??? Why would you even want to go there??
Bohan: Uh. No offense Corey.
Corey: *shrugs*
Bailey: Can't a girl have secrets? *Gets up*
Bailey: *nods to Corey* Anytime you need a package delivered- you know where to find me, love
Bailey: *pats Reuben on the back as they pass through to the door*
Reuben: *hunched over trying to find his breath* ...thanks for coming in...

Corey: *looking up at the tall city buildings in awe*
Corey: *pointing up* I'm gonna j-jump off th-that.
Sky: *uninterested* 'kay.
Sky: *processes* wait- wear a helmet!!
Skylar chasing Corey
Sky: Wear a helmet Corey!!!
Skylar tackles Corey to the ground
Leif: *flat tone* Yes because giving him a head injury is fine as long as it's on solid footing.

Tyson: *standing in uniform at the end of school yard* Should you really be driving- I mean, don't you have multiple head injuries?
Corey: *leaning on motorcycle, here to pick him up* n-none of them where f-from the b-b-b-bike
Tyson: ....
Tyson: *shrugs, takes helmet* good enough for me
Corey: *watching the bullies being obnoxious in the yard* does-s your dad know ab-about that?
Tyson: Does he care?
Corey: N-not my place but; Re-Reu-Reuben seems to care ab-about people al- a lot.
Tyson: You try to help everyone, you end up helping no one
Corey: ....
Corey: I would r-run them ov-ver for you, but Le-Leif says I can't do an-an-anything publicly il-illegal
Tyson: ....Uhm, Corey- do you have a license?
Corey: For what?
Tyson: A motorcycle license?? Or even a license to drive?
Corey: .....
Corey: It's il-il-illegal, isn't it.
Tyson: *slow nod*
Corey: Shit
