Eve's eyebrows furrowed at the question. He knew that he had no reason to be upset, that petty feelings like jealousy of all things wouldn't get him anywhere, yet he couldn't shake the frustration that seemed to fester deep inside. He wanted to talk to Rachel, to get to know her like he'd done so many others, but the look she gave him reminded him too much of himself. Fox looked at her the same way he used to look at him. Rationally, they're both victims here. Both of them were stuck in the same situation. Picking favorites was never a concern for Eve, because in his mind, he'd always be his favorite.

The way Fox looked at him nowadays, though, made him think that he was soon to be pushed from that spot. Rachel was a better fit for him anyway it seemed. Eve's expression shifted into the pouty face he'd started to wear more often lately.
