friendship bracelet

“I like your bracelet,” Max says, hooking his index finger under the plastic beads around Charles’ right wrist.

Charles looks down, smiling as he rotates his hand to show the text. “Yes! It’s nice, isn’t it? A fan gave it to me.”

“Aww, you didn’t stay up all night making it yourself?” Max teases. He runs his thumb across the letters: I N C H I D E N T.

“Maybe if I had thought of it first, but now that I have one, I don’t need to,” Charles says happily.

Max chuckles. He still hasn’t let go of the bracelet, idly keeping Charles’ wrist captive while he studies it. Charles finds he doesn’t mind. It’s fun, having Max’s attention on him. A little like being stalked by a lion, except he’s not afraid of Max’s bite.

“Well, if you’re ever in a mood for crafts, make me one too, okay?” Max finally decides with a wink, letting go of Charles’ wrist. “’Cause you need two people for a real inchident.”
