I needed this reminder. Came *this* close to a nervous breakdown yesterday.
Never feel guilty for resting, never feel guilty for having to recharge your body and mind. You deserve to rest and you deserve peace, even if your tasks haven't been finished yet.

Time flies! October is just about done ✔. My starting weight was 239.9 lbs at 65.5% bodyfat. This morning, I was 226 lbs at 60.6% bodyfat.
NSV:
Not eating a lingering slice of pizza that my kids left out.
Started moving again! It may not seem like much to the seasoned pros but I have been steadily working towards 5k daily steps.

I finally got fed up with Covid-19 excuse as the reason why I let my successful 2018 weightloss journey fall by the way side.
On October 8, I clocked in at 239.9 lbs and 65.5% body fat according to my scale. This is my highest weight ever! It frankly scared me. So I decided to fall back on the principles that helped me in 2018: #intermittentfasting, #lowcarb, #hydration, #bettersleep. I am still working on the movement piece... my fitness has disappeared completely. I will unearth the taekwondo athlete who almost tested for her black belt as Covid-19 struck.
I am 229.1 lbs at 61.5% bodyfat. The water weight is gone and now the steady work begins.

Here's to 46 years on planet Earth 🌏. 2020 sure has been a challenging year - some of my toughest and most blessed moments happened this year.
I am still a work in progress.
Me as mom:
* Reunited with my teenage daughter after a two year absence
* Actively learning compassion from my working adult son
* Learning about perseverance and coping and existing and thriving from my middle daughter - anxiety and depression. 2020, she beat you!
Me as student:
* Enrolled in grad school after many years of not doing so - held back by fear of failure. Guess what? Straight As for my 1st term.
* Picked up 5 technical certifications this year
* Still learning about healthy relationships with food
Me as human:
* Empathy and creativity = resilient and adaptive hope
* Humor and love = a little bright light that's always on.

It has been ages since I last posted. I think 2020 changed a lot of things for many people. For me, it set me back. It sent me back to emotional eating habits that I had thought that I had long since vanquished. I am back to the drawing board in many ways.
I have decided that I am going to start again. Eat with purpose. Live with purpose. I am going to embrace the basics that worked really well for me in 2018. I will be embracing a #keto diet and I restart my practice for #intermittentfasting.
I will use my tumblr for motivation and accountability.

Don't think about what can happen in a month. Don't think about what can happen in a year. Just focus on the 24 hours in front of you and do what you can to get closer to where you want to be.

Simple. Elegant. Effective. Thank you, Carol Rosetti.

When Brazilian graphic designer Carol Rossetti began posting colorful illustrations of women and their stories to Facebook, she had no idea how popular they would become.
Thousands of shares throughout the world later, the appeal of Rosetti’s work is clear. Much like the street art phenomenon Stop Telling Women To Smile, Rossetti’s empowering images are the kind you want to post on every street corner, as both a reminder and affirmation of women’s bodily autonomy.
“It has always bothered me, the world’s attempts to control women’s bodies, behavior and identities,” Rossetti told Mic via email. “It’s a kind of oppression so deeply entangled in our culture that most people don’t even see it’s there, and how cruel it can be.”
Rossetti’s illustrations touch upon an impressive range of intersectional topics, including LGBTQ identity, body image, ageism, racism, sexism and ableism. Some characters are based on the experiences of friends or her own life, while others draw inspiration from the stories many women have shared across the Internet.
“I see those situations I portray every day,” she wrote. “I lived some of them myself.”
Despite quickly garnering thousands of enthusiastic comments and shares on Facebook, the project started as something personal — so personal, in fact, that Rossetti is still figuring out what to call it. For now, the images reside in albums simply titled “WOMEN in english!“ or ”Mujeres en español!“ which is fitting: Rossetti’s illustrations encompass a vast set of experiences that together create a powerful picture of both women’s identity and oppression.
One of the most interesting aspects of the project is the way it has struck such a global chord. Rossetti originally wrote the text of the illustrations in Portuguese, and then worked with an Australian woman to translate them to English. A group of Israeli feminists also took it upon themselves to create versions of the illustrations in Hebrew. Now, more people have reached out to Rossetti through Facebook and offered to translate her work into even more languages. Next on the docket? Spanish, Russian, German and Lithuanian.
It’s an inspiring show of global solidarity, but the message of Rossetti’s art is clear in any language. Above all, her images celebrate being true to oneself, respecting others and questioning what society tells us is acceptable or beautiful.
“I can’t change the world by myself,” Rossetti said. “But I’d love to know that my work made people review their privileges and be more open to understanding and respecting one another.””

I missed the timely start of this but I am still working through the prompts!
Week - 1 Dates - 10/7 - 10/13 Theme : Goal Setting and Accountability
Overview
Below you will find the daily prompts and challenge for the week. The goal of the prompts is to serve as a conversation starter. You can spend as much or as little time as you want with each of there. There is no right or wrong answer. Only share what you are comfortable sharing. You can always skip a question or do them and choose not share the results. Please tag your posts as FMLS90 so we can follow each other’s progress.
This week is all about setting goals for the next 90 days and developing strategies to hold ourselves accountable. If you have not seen this already, please see this week’s Supplemental Post on Goal Setting, this will help you set your goals.
Daily Prompts
10/7 - Tell us about your expierence with goal setting. What works best for you? Have you used the SMART goal setting process or any other method?
10/8 - If you are comfortable with it, share some of your goals with the team.
10/9 - If you have more than one goal, which is the most important to you and why? If you chose to stay with one goal, tell us why you are focused on that specific goal.
10/10 - Share something that motivates you. It can be a person, a movie, a song, a quote - anything that speaks to you. Tell us about it and why it is important to you.
10/11 - If you had to offer the group one tip about goal setting or accountability, what would it be?
10/12 - What is your expierence with public accountability? Do you share details of your journey with others or are you more private? Why?
10/13 - Have you had a chance to find an accountability partner or group yet? If so, tell us about them and how you plan to work together. If you have not and would like to, use this prompt to tell us about what you are looking for in a partner.
Challenge - Establish a personal Mantra or theme for this challenge. Mantras are simple, positive phrases that you can repeat to yourself (or shout to the world) that will help you stay focused or on track.
Examples:
I am fearless
I am strong, I am beautiful, I am enough
I am creating a life I can be proud of
You may want to find a way to express this graphically so you can print it out and keep it front of mind.
Note - Many of us have subconsciously accepted negative, self limiting mantras. If you are in this position, please make a conscious effort to remove those negative messages, replacing them with new, healthier ones.
Next Week - The theme for next week is “Preparing for Success” It is all about doing pre-work to ensure you are successful.
Join us? Just seeing this and want to join in? Please do! Just see this post and join in. You are welcome to catch up or just start here, whichever you prefer.
