I would say that (part of) Bruce's problem is that his every last potential confidant is either dead, insane, twelve years old, or all three of those things. (I know Jay was no longer twelve when he died, but I stand by my point.)

For Petra, Usual Suspect #1 is Anakin Skywalker, who blubbers at the drop of a hanky. He'd be better off if he did more sex-crying in canon -- clear the system of those rage toxins -- but he doesn't, so he's fucked.

Petra's Usual Suspect #2 is Tim Drake, whom they have written weeping uncontrollably in various people's beds because he just keeps everything so bottled up and then when it starts to come free, all hell breaks loose.

TW: sexual assault & aftermath of same. Something I have seen discussed all too little, in the wider conversation about post-Roe abortion bans, is the reality of how "exceptions" for rape are handled in practice. I have the mother of all head-colds right now (complete with ear involvement and laryngitis), so I am in no shape to try to translate even one state's legalese into human-speak.

But I know at least some of those states' "exceptions" require police corroboration that rape has taken place --

-- which, in case you didn't know, can be difficult to obtain even in standard rape-fearmongering situations such as 'stranger attacked me and I wasn't dressed Like That' or 'I'm 12 and my stepfather/pastor/coach/neighbor/uncle/etc. forced, coerced, or tricked me', because a lot of cops are misogynist assholes who will bend over backward to dismiss a report of rape --

-- and/or a "rape kit" having been performed, which generally have to be done basically immediately after the rape in order to be useful, but a) many people who are raped are in no shape to request, much less undergo, a rape kit in the timeframe required, and b) a rape kit re-traumatizes most people who were just raped, and, while yes, it's a general good to get as many rape kits as possible taken, processed, and used to prosecute rapists, that cannot be used as a club to force anyone who was just raped to undergo a rape kit.

We've heard a lot about how "exceptions to save the life (or health) of the mother" are basically worthless. We need to also be talking about how "exceptions for rape (or incest)" are largely worthless, as well.

here's my discord server for disabled people who have caregivers, whether family or friends or partners or paid staff or in an institution.

please reblog this. disabled people with caregivers desperately need a space to talk about navigating these complicated and often fraught relationships. there's infinite spaces for caregivers to talk about their experiences with each other. and that's good, they need that. and so do we.

this is a public server in the sense that any disabled person with caregivers can join. but there will be a degree of privacy because people won't be able to see all the channels until they are manually approved. also, i will try and implement something I've seen in another server, which is the ability to post anonymously.

I think that it's really important for people to realize that being disabled is traumatic. genuinely. your body and brain feel like they are breaking down and wrong. you are in constant heavy stress from stuff like chronic pain. most disabled people i know have a somewhat regular emotional break down from the trauma of it all. and we are expected to just smile through it by society, to not be in the way, to not be an issue.

friendly reminder you dont need a diagnosis to be in disability spaces, as an example im in constant pain and fatigue, have migraines every week and my joints hurts to a point I can't write, but since familiar gaslighting/medical trauma and the fact that im an indigenous, brown skin fat man a diagnosis is fucking hard (but im in my way! :)) , but i still deserve a safe space to talk about my experiences and to feel valuable and supported.

never feel like youre interrupting someone's space or that you shouldn't be here cause you dont have a diagnosis, disabilities existed before diagnosis

Since I returned to interacting with tumblr earlier this month (August 2024), I've seen people both lamenting and praising the 'fact' that tumblr has no algorithm for serving users content -- that users will only see content reblogged by other users whom they follow, and not content only liked by them.

And yet I keep seeing stuff on my dash like the above: a (hastily & poorly anonymized) post made by someone I am not (yet?) following, but -- as noted -- "Liked by" someone I do follow.

So what's up here? New tumblr "feature" on the down-low? The posts I referenced are just out of date? Is there a setting I need to change (or not change)? Some other explanation entirely?
