This is an excerpt from a 35-year-old Palestinian's account of life in Gaza under siege.

Ziad has been writing for the Guardian about the realities of the Israeli bombardment, as he, his sister and their pets, flee their home in Gaza City in the hope of survival.

nothing disgusts nayef more than rot. he sat on the floorboards of his childhood home and watched his father slowly spin in the fetid air, his hands turning green and blue. the bruised skin of forgotten fruit, improperly disposed of fish carcasses. black mold and meals abandoned. it's just a terrible waste. it tastes foul when it could have been beautiful. he doesn't love the way sióar does but in a way this is how he shows what he can do. you don't have to care for what the meat used to be to honour it. you just need to cook, and do it well. you just need to eat

the second generation of my gameplay save, nat (any pronouns) and delilah (she/her) eldritch.

i genuinely adore these two so much. this gameplay has been an absolute shit show from the start i've had so much fun. i think these two are perfect and i don't know what i'd do without them. now nat's an adult and delilah's a teen and i'm sad that i won't be seeing delilah grow up anymore : ( sigh... anyways. playing the game just to play it has been so lovely. i might start uploading screenshots that i've taken anyways just because i can but this first bit has been a little cringe because their mom ( the founder ) fixated on a premade sim and that's their father which i always feel weird abt...
