Your kid probably likes Legos. Your kid probably peruses the directions hot out of the box and carefully opens the little plastic packages one at a time, sorting the pieces into colors and sizes so they are easily accessible. Your kid probably slots shapes into place in a soothing meditative state, spending hours alone and happy. Your kid probably has an entire city built with traffic patterns and personalities for every character. I imagine your kid this way, because mine… is not.

My kid likes Legos, alright. But she wants the toy on the box. Ideas of “patience” and “process” and “space-time continuum” aren’t part of her experience. Her Lego Style has always been more of a, “Here, Daddy, make this shit happen and why isn’t Spider-Man hanging from my ceiling yet?” thing. She moves through the world like a lightning bolt, impossible to predict, leaving deafening echoes, a pounding heart, and singed hair in her wake. Every single time, she’s drawn to the IDEA of putting a Lego set together, but it doesn’t happen. MAN, does it not happen.

Yesterday she begged me for another one while we were at Costco. Everything in me told me it was a bad investment in money and sanity, both of which I’m carefully rationing right now. However, she made an agreement with me that she would at least LOOK at the directions and attempt to understand them before feeding the Legos to the dog this time. She was so regulated and used her words so maturely, I had to say yes.

Parents, I am writing this to remind you that our children are never done. This thing they just can’t do, someday they might. Don’t give up hope, especially when you still see it shining in their eyes. A failure isn’t a finish, it’s just a step. This is for EVERY parent, although particularly true for those of us who parent children with special needs.

We need to remember “patience” and “process” and “space-time continuum” for ourselves. And that lightning has its own set of rules.

P.S. I am not saying never give up on YOUR hopes for change. Sometimes that’s required in order to arrive at acceptance of the amazing beings they already are. I’m saying never give up on THEIR hope.

Versailles Philippe cosplay

It took a little longer than expected to make this cosplay, but I am happy with the overall effect as I made it from a pirate themed pattern I found on ebay with little twists of my own as trying to find material similar to what he wore in the show was a nightmare!! lol.. Bobbi is a big fan of Alexander Vlahos from watching Merlin and an even bigger fan after meeting him at #WCC2017 in the April. Versailles is a fantastic series and I have enjoyed watching it immensely (roll on series 3!) and although Bobbi is wayyyyy too young to watch the show she loves the costumes etc from the show .Hopefully she will get to show him her cosplay in person before she outgrows it :0) :0)

Gloria at Hampstead Theatre

We had an early start leaving North Wales monday morning and one bus, train and taxi ride later we had arrived at Hampstead Theatre. We had only one night stay booked so we tried to travel as light as possible but my overnight bag still felt like it had a ton of bricks in it lol. As we arrived before check in time at the hotel we headed inside to see what was available in the cafe. We settled on some small tubs of ice cream and wandered outside. There is a lovely seating area outside and just beyond that there is a small grass park with a water feature that Bobbi loved so much she soaked her leggings resulting in having to try and dry them with the hotel hair dryer before the show later!.                                                             The doors opened at 7:10 pm so we made our way to our seats we were seated in row B ( second row ) roughly in the middle and enjoyed a great view . I took some pics of the stage set up , Bobbi was happy that Colins desk was right in front of us (with the posters) . The play was performed fantastically  by all the cast members ……I wont post any spoilers.                                             After the show we and several others waited for the chance of meeting and getting autos from the cast. We managed to get Bayos auto and he chatted for a while I told him it was Bobbis first trip to London and her first trip to the theatre and he pleased that Gloria was our first choice giving Bobbi a high five on a wise decision..lol. Next we stopped Sian who was equally lovely to speak to. The only disappointment to the evening was a lady telling the queue waiting for Colin that he wasnt coming down for autos tonight. Bobbi was a bit down about that as she had really hoped to meet him and had brought a little gift for him :0( . As we were leaving I said its a shame she never got to give him her gift when she had an idea and went back to Bayo who was standing at the bar with others and kindly asked him if he would pass on her gift to Colin ( it was a small ty welsh dragon which we added a blue scarff to)and he said he would :0). So fingers crossed he got his dragon .                                                  ps: I have since booked for the 29th fingers crossed we get the chance to meet Colin next time either way we are just looking forward to seeing the show again :0)

Morgana cosplay

We took advantage of the lovely weather and headed out to one of our favourite locations Chirk castle. The dress came out lovely however the material is prone to catching on the ground …..ugh!. Need to readjust the brooch as the clasp kept opening and just a few minor tweaks here and there and it will be ready for our next con , which will be #WCCpart2  in Dec. better take a warm coat as its always freezing in Wales at that time of year …lol

HTGLORIA 29th July 2017

We both enjoyed Gloria so much we booked tickets on the final night also in the hope that we could get all the casts autographs (we already managed to get Bayos and Sians after the first show we went to). I decided to get tickets for both shows on the Sat as we arrived midday and were staying a short walk away. I found the show more humorous the second time round I also felt that the tone of the back and forth between Dean and Kendra less aggressive ie the tweet ,tweet ,tweet dialogue . When we saw the show at the start of July there was a part during their  scene  where Kendra flipped a box of paper cards on to the floor this part was missing and replaced with a vigorous office chair shake. Another change we noticed was when Dean cowered on the floor in the early show he had his face uncovered with arms out in front, Bobbi said he looked straight at her during this scene I joked prob making sure you werent to shocked she replied no but I was worried in case he had hurt himself flying over the desk ! , during the final show during this part Colin now had his face hidden with his arms wrapped about his head. I dont know if anyone else noticed during the evening show when Loren came and sat on Kendras desk to say his part Colin slipped into his Irish accent to reply one word during the dialogue his face betrayed just a little that he realized  too . Another thing I noticed was that Colin was the only one to really gaze into the audience engaging with them, and when he looks in your direction it is intense..                                                                                      We waited in the theatre after the show hoping to catch the cast , we were lucky to get a photo with Bayo , he is gracious to the fans taking time to give autos and pics to those that asked. We waited and waited and waited but nobody else was venturing out . The security guard told every Colin had already left straight after the show in to a car but we stayed just in case, It was getting  late when Bo came out the front and also stopped for autos and photos and a little chat . We saw Kae and Bayo still inside the theatre but nobody else , in the end it was just 6 of us left then it went down to 4 by this time it was nearly midnight and we all decided that Colin was deff a no show ..lol . I took a photo of our group and I can thank Gloria for introducing me to lots of Colin Morgan fans from all over the world.

Here it is, friends!  After JIBCon I bought the underwear with no real plans for it except to hear my own amused laughter.  Then I remembered I had Jensen’s auto for Phoenix.  I didn’t know if I should get them signed or not (I’m no good at judging the appropriateness of this particular idea) so I asked a few friends and they all told me to DO IT.   My friend gifted me her J2 autos which were on row C so I was one of the first people to get Jensen’s auto for this con.  I got in line, but also brought a back up item in case the whole thing went south. I was really hoping for the whole thing to just be funny so I was hoping for the best.  I had a photo saved on my phone from the con, photographed by the lovely and talented @monicad-photography ready to explain the whole thing to whoever I needed to so that no one thought I was too weird!  

The underwear was still in the pack (I didn’t want anyone to think I had worn it, because I hadn’t) so the handler asked if I wanted the pack signed or the underwear, to which I told her the latter.  Jensen was paying attention to the person in front of me so he had no idea what was next.  He was slid the underwear and was just quiet for a moment.  I held my breath and then opened my phone to Monica’s picture and zoomed in on the underwear section and told him some really clever people (not me!) were able to determine what the underwear was by this small swatch.  He was amazed but he still didn’t understand how they could do it off the picture.  I explained there were other picture angles and that he made it easy by growling at Misha for the rest of the panel.  I did a growl but since I never actually watch the JIBCon video I had no idea how he actually sounded.  He growl corrected me (I was laughing hard) and he started laughing himself and meanwhile his handler was just confused so Jensen explained to her that Misha at JIB didn’t believe he had on weird underwear so he flashed him (Jensen then slid back away from the table and mimicked sliding down his pants and flashing for extra dramatic storytelling effect). He was in such a GREAT MOOD remembering the whole thing.  The handler looked nervous tho.  Jensen said with a smile, “You should see the ones I have on now!”  And OMG y’all.  He started reaching for his pants again and I thought he was about to flash me whatever new ones he had.  The handler then freaked out and stretched an arm over the table telling him. “Oh!  No! No!” and I said, “If the man wants to show his underwear then let the man show his underwear.” It was in a playful banter way and Jensen was laughing the whole time!  I then said, “Thank you for that, by the way, Mr. Ackles.”  He laughed again and then started to sign the underwear while the handler stretched them out. They are stretchy and thin so he had to sign slow. He finished his name and then paused thoughtfully for a second and started writing something below his name.  “ROAR!”  i just started dying laughing again, took the underwear and thanked him again.  <3

Knights and Princesses day at Chirk castle

We had a action packed day at the castle , jousting and sword training. Later on in the day Bobbi became part of the Dragon and paraded through the castle grounds. All the staff were v entertaining and bonus end to the day was she won best knight costume…..happy days

While we attended a knights and princesses day at Chirk castle we took the opportunity  to do a little thing ….enjoy!
