This is the money which was raised in a day for Ao3. This is the spare income contributed by a collective of people to fanfic site, so that they can be a board member. $130k USD and I am sure a good chunk of it came from tumblr users too, cause of the way we lose our minds on here when ao3 is down.

a very annoying trend I see constantly on here is the rhetorical assignment of categories of privilege as shorthand for "doesn't need to be listened to" in order to derail any discussion of a structural oppression.

if a Black person is talking about antiblackness, everyone talks as if they are obviously and by default able-bodied, wealthy, global north, peri/cis/het, thin, etc.

if a disabled person is talking about ableism, everyone talks as if they're obviously and by default white, wealthy, global north, peri/cis/het, thin, etc.

if a poor person is talking about poverty, everyone talks as if they're obviously and by default white, able-bodied, global north, peri/cis/het, thin, etc.

if a person from the global south is talking about imperialism, everyone talks as if they're obviously and by default white, able-bodied, wealthy, peri/cis/het, thin, etc.

if an intersex person is talking about intersexism, everyone talks as if they are obviously and by default white, able-bodied, wealthy, global north, cis/het, thin, etc.

if a trans woman is talking about transmisogyny, everyone talks as if she is obviously and by default white, able-bodied, wealthy, global north, peri/het, thin, etc.

if a fat person is talking about anti-fatness, everyone talks as if they're obviously and by default able-bodied, white, able-bodied, global north, peri/cis/het, etc.

and then even broad theory and belief systems are treated this way. if you're not an anarchist, all anarchists are white, able-bodied, wealthy, global north, peri/cis/het, thin, etc. if you're not a marxist, all marxists are those things. if you're religious, all atheists are these things. if you're atheist, all religious people are.

it's so disingenuous and tokenizing to keep doing this. it doesn't engage with the substance of what anyone is saying, and is so reductive and dehumanizing tbh. as if there is no complexity to anyone's lives, no complexity to how people move through these structures, and no complexity to how people understand and form beliefs about the world.

Also are those people forgetting that in the past when a genocide/war has occurred we weren't living in an era where common people basically live half of their lives online...... saying that a "real Palestinian wouldnt have time to ebeg on tumblr" is like saying "oh a real hamas combatant wouldnt have time to make tiktoks in the middle of a war zone" like are those fake too lmao

please make sure that wherever you’re at in life, you don’t treat it like a transitory period. don’t waste your college years wishing to already be graduated & have a job. don’t waste your single years wishing for someone to be in love with. if/when those things come, they will come in due time and they will be good. but there is nothing like looking back and feeling empty because you wasted literal years ignoring what you had because you were hoping for something better. while it’s important to better yourself and reach for your goals, don’t neglect the present because that’s where you are now and it’s your now that determines your future.

i share a lot of fundraisers on here but right now i want to take a moment and bring extra attention to @ibrahim-family's campaign, #25 on the @gazavetters spreadsheet:

he's only fifteen years old. younger than my youngest sibling. and he's responsible for saving the lives of his family. can you imagine having to grapple with that at 15? would you be able to handle the pressure?

every day he messages me, full of anxiety when my responses lapse, and when i share his posts or tell him what i can do to help he tells me he loves me.

today he told me that his uncle was martyred just hours earlier.
