Noah shook his head and stopped himself from getting out of bed.  “Don’t apologize Audrey.”  It wasn’t like she was the only one to blame.  Noah looked down at the bed and shrugged.  “We umm might…ok yeah we did.  I’m sorry, I was drunk and well you were too and, not that I regret it, well unless you regret it  It doesn’t have to change anything.” 

audrey nodded, looking down into her lap. she scrubbed at her face, letting her hand push through her hair. she glanced over at him, face red, and pressed her lips. “what... what if i want it to change something?”

Betty nodded and smiled.  “I’m good with either or both.  I could totally go for a sundae right now, or something chocolaty.” She said, heading out to the parking lot.  “Do you mind driving?” Betty asked, looking over at the other.  “We should totally get some ice cream and either you can come over to mine or we can go to your house and watch some horror.” She suggested.  Normally Betty wasn’t all that into horror movies, but she definitely wanted the farthest thing from romance right now.

“nah, i can drive, that works.” she nodded. “i’m good with ice cream and then going to mine. my dad’ll still be at the church and mom’s gone so that’ll be better, i think.”

“Ok great.  So what would you like to do?” She asked, adjusting her ponytail and smiling over at Audrey.  She figured hanging out with Audrey would help take her mind off of stupid boys.  “I’m fine with whatever.”

Audrey shrugged, trying to shake off the bitter taste the lie about Noah left. “Uh, wanna get coffee? You said something about ice cream?”

Noah looked at her raising an eyebrow.  Did she not remember?  Maybe he shouldn’t have said anything.  He ran a hand through his hair and shrugged.  “Nothing.  I’m going to take a shower.” Noah said, moving to get up.

“Oh fuck.” She muttered, curling in on herself, dropping her head in her hands. “Noah, look, I... what ever stupid thing I did, i’m sorry.” She managed, still trying to piece together the exact conversation. She remembered calling him no fun. Admitting  how much she wanted to kiss him, even sober. Saying how goddamn hard it is to be honest with him about this sort of thing and... “Fuck did I... Did we...”

Noah sat up in bed, running a hand through his messy hair.  He couldn’t believe he’d let himself get so drunk that he let his feelings take over his logic.  Part of him wanted to forget that it happened, only because he was afraid that it would ruin what he had with Audrey, but most of him wouldn’t have changed it for anything, ok so maybe he would have changed a few things, like the whole not being drunk thing especially.  Noah looked over at Audrey and knew that he needed to say something.  His head felt swimmy and he kind of just wanted to go back to sleep, but instead he said; “So that happened.” 

Audrey shoved her face in the pillow. “What happened?” She muttered. She stretched, then pushed up, realizing Noah was shirtless. “... What happened?” she asked, grasping at fuzzy memories of stupid decisions.

“I wasn’t sending…it’s not…he can date who he wants.  Am I going to judge him for that? Yes.  Am I going to let it bother me?  No.”  She said, stopping in front of her locker.  She put in her combination and sighed as she put some of her books away.  “Seeing his taste in girls, it’s probably better that he doesn’t like me anyways.”  Betty said, trying to make herself feel better about the situation.  “Enough about him, why don’t we go get something to eat or watch a movie or whatever you want to do.  I mean unless you already have plans with Noah or something.” She said, looking over at the other expectantly.

audrey rolled her eyes, biting her tongue. she was going to let betty do whatever felt best, even if she could see the frustration below the surface. “no plans. he’s busy with family stuff today.”

Noah fell asleep easily curled up to the dark haired girl next to him.  The next morning he groaned and shifted in the bed.  He felt someone next to him and tried to recall what happened last night.  He vaguely remembered something about Audrey and opened his eyes to glance around.  He smiled at Audrey’s sleeping form and everything suddenly came back to him.  “Holy crap.” He said, rubbing a hand over his face. 

audrey stirred away when she felt movement in the bed, head immediately splitting into a hangover. she let out a groan, rolling to shove her face in the pillow, quickly realizing from the scent of it that she was in noah’s bed, not her own. “fuck.” she muttered.

“What?  I am totally over it.  I don’t care who he wants to date.” Betty said, adjusting her backpack as she looked over to the guy she’d had a pretty big crush on, rolling her eyes at the girl that was practically hanging off of him.  She looked back at Audrey and put a smile on her face.

Audrey rolled her eyes, arms crossed over her stomach. “betty, no one who doesn’t care sends suburban death glares across the hallway at whatever new chick he’s got hanging around. You know you’re allowed to be upset, right?” She said, leaning against the lockers.
