7 Holiday Happenings to Make You Merry in & Around West Wendover
It’s December and that can mean only one thing: holidays! If you are going to be in the West Wendover neighborhood, there is plenty of stuff to do to get your fill of holiday cheer. Here are seven things to do in and around West Wendover, brought to you by the Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino and the Red Garter Hotel and Casino.
Visit the West Wendover Christmas Tree
Lit on Dec. 1 at West Wendover City Hall, the Christmas tree is always beautiful and really puts you in the Christmas spirit. Pop into City Hall and marvel at the city’s gorgeous Yuletide tree.
Check out the West Wendover Recreation District Annual Christmas Festival
The Christmas festival runs Dec. 4, 5 and 6 at the West Wendover Community Building from 5:30 to 8 pm each night. It includes entertainment from local performers on all nights, plus pictures with Santa, refreshments and fresh baked cookies, and an abundance of community and Christmas spirit.
Celebrate the 11 Year Anniversary of ZooLights
Running throughout the month of December, the ZooLights event at Salt Lake City’s Hogle Zoo is celebrating its 11 year anniversary this year. Billed as “Where wildlife meets wild lights!” the annual event features over 200 lighted animal and holiday-themed displays, the popular 135-foot lighted tunnel, the Conservation Carousel and a visit with Santa Claus at the Macy’s Santa Station.
Most evenings feature a fun family or child activity such as ice carvers, crafts, temporary tattoos, animal biofacts and more. The zoo also has a family friendly early New Year’s countdown so kids can get the thrill of ushering in the New Year while still getting to bed on time.
You can view the lights Sun.-Wed. 5:30-9 p.m. and Thur.-Sat. 5:30-10 p.m.
Watch a River of Fire Flow Down a Mountain
Don’t worry, it’s not a volcano! It’s Snowbird Resort’s beautiful Torchlight Parade and Fireworks. On Christmas Eve, you can see the lovely parade from the Plaza Deck of the resort, which is southeast of Salt Lake City. Warm yourself around a bonfire and stay for the fireworks display right after the parade. At the end of it all, Santa Claus will rappel out of the Tram to say hello to the kids. It all starts around 6 p.m. The Snowbird also has Hanukkah candle lighting during the week of Hanukkah, Dec. 13-19.
Step Back in Time at This is the Place Heritage Park
Christmas lights are amazing, but Christmas candles are, too. Take a journey back to the past at This is the Place Heritage Park to when flames lit up the Yuletide night. The Heritage Village at the park is decorated like a Currier & Ives card, and you'll feel like you've taken a step back in time when you visit with Father Christmas. The village also features a live nativity scene and the Heritage Village Carolers provide an inspiring backdrop to the glitter of lights, the glow of warm fires and the smells of Christmas.
You can take home a little bit of Christmas by joining in the fun of making crafts and homemade gifts in one of the decorated historic homes or pioneer cabins. Enjoy Christmas at This is the Place Heritage Park from 5-9 p.m. until Dec. 23.
Pop Into Salt Lake City and Go for a Holiday Stroll
The Grand America Hotel will be holding its annual Grand Window Holiday Stroll, which showcases hand-crafted display windows that all convey the spirit of the holidays. Strollers will receive a map to guide their explorations and a special seasonal cookie to munch along the way.
The windows are open for viewing all throughout December. Until Dec. 22, Stroll hours are Mon.-Thurs. 4-8 p.m. and Fri.-Sun. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Dec. 23-31 hours switch to 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. everyday. Self-parking stroll attendees will receive a one-hour validation for parking.
The Grand America also has its annual Christmas Eve Brunch Buffet, Christmas Eve Prix Fixe Dinner and Christmas Eve Extended Breakfast Buffet.
Win Win Win at Wendover Resorts
And, finally, the best thing to do for Christmas is to win big at the Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino and the Red Garter Hotel and Casino. Enjoy the Christmas spirit as you place your bets and win enough to extend your Christmas shopping. Then, come back on New Year’s and bring in the new year with us, all while winning and collecting One Club points.
There is so much to see and do for the holidays in and around West Wendover. We would love to have you come and visit us at the Wendover Nugget and Red Garter. Merry Christmas, happy holidays and season’s greetings!

8 Things to Be Thankful for this Year at Wendover Resorts
November means Thanksgiving and that means reflecting on things that make us thankful. Friends, family and freedom are some of the big ones. But, there are so many more things to be thankful for.
Like, for example, these eight things:
1. Fights
Now, for some people, Thanksgiving means family members throwing down, but those aren’t the fights we’re talking about. We’re talking about all the biggest UFC pay-per-view events, which the Red Garter Hotel and Casino shows in the Banquet Hall on three projector screens. If you’re a fight fan, come down to the Red Garter on fight night and place some bets. Admission is free.
2. Good Food
Of course Thanksgiving means good food and a lot of it. And we have some of the best food in all of West Wendover. In the Red Garter, The Italia Ristorante is now open on weekend evenings and the Prospector Cafe has an expanded menu. If coffee is your thing, Beans and Brews serves up a mean cup of the black nectar in the Red Garter while the newly remodelled Starbucks in the Wendover Nugget has extended weekend hours and now stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Plus, breakfast at the Red Garter is only $3.99, seven days a week.
3. Great Deals
Great deals are something we should all be thankful for. Getting your money’s worth is good, but getting even more than your money’s worth is amazing. And when we talk about amazing deals at Wendover, we have to talk about One Club. One Club gives you points for every dollar you spend at Wendover casinos. As you gather points, you move up the ladder through the tiers of Member, VIP, Celebrity, Famous and Legend.
The amount of points earned varies based on the game type, amount wagered and amount of time spent playing. One Club tiers are determined by the amount of Tier Points accumulated during the previous twelve months.
Use your points for those vaunted great deals like dining at any of the Wendover restaurants, staying in the hotels, visiting the bars and lounges, shopping in the gift shops and using Wendover’s other amenities.
4. Comfortable Living
We love our creature comforts and luckily for people who really enjoy comfort, the Red Garter has new rooms. From the ultra comfy queen and king sized Serta mattresses to the 42-inch LED flat-screen TVs, the Red Garter has shiny new rooms that will make you want to stay again and again. If you really want to experience comfort, stay in a jacuzzi suite. You’ll be so thankful you did!
5. Birthdays
Who doesn’t love a birthday? We certainly do! In fact, the Red Garter is having a birthday this November. The Red Garter is celebrating its seven year anniversary in West Wendover and we’re so thankful that it’s been a prosperous seven years. It’s going to be a big, birthday bash and we’re getting ready to sing Happy Birthday to the Red Garter. (There may even be some cake.)
6. Dancing
Dancing is so much fun and we’re so thankful for it. You get some music, you get some friends, you get some beverages and it all equals a good time. At the Wendover Nugget, you can dance the night away every Saturday with a live DJ from eight in the evening to four in the morning. If you love dancing, come to the Nugget and let loose.
7. Breathtaking Nature
As fun as it is to stay inside and win big, we also love to be in the great outdoors. We are fortunate to have some truly breathtaking natural beauty near West Wendover. From hot springs to mountain passes, no matter which direction you travel, you’ll find some gorgeous scenery.
8. Winning Big
The chance to win big is something we can all be thankful for. Nothing beats the feeling of placing that wager and seeing the card you need to win a huge jackpot. Every roll of the dice and every pull of the lever holds the promise of big money.
There’s so much to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving. The thing we’re most thankful for is our many wonderful guests who visit the Wendover Nugget and the Red Garter. Our guests are simply the best and we’re always happy to show them a good time.

A Short History of the Wendover Nugget Resort & Casino
The story of the Wendover Nugget goes all the way back to the late 1920s just before the Great Depression of the 1930s. Nevada legalized gambling in 1931 and one of the very first gaming licenses to be issued for this brand new enterprize was to William Smith.
As legend has it, Smith was hitching free rides on trains to travel across the country (known as “riding the rails”) some time in the late 1920s. On his way from San Francisco, he was caught riding the rails and booted off a train just outside Wendover, Nevada.
The Cobble Stone
Being booted off the train in that spot proved to be fortuitous for Smith because he was able to find a job in a nearby potash mine. After working in the mine for a while, Smith and a partner named Herman Eckstein managed to open a small service station in 1926 called the Cobble Stone for travelers who were following the Victory Highway between Salt Lake City and Reno.
The Stateline
Smith and Eckstein soon added a 15-room hotel onto their station along with a gambling parlor in 1931 when gambling became legal in Nevada. They called the hotel The Stateline because it straddled the actual state border between Utah and Nevada and it is said that the hotel and casino used to have a line painted on the floor demarking the state border. You could eat in Utah, where gambling was prohibited, and then walk over the border to Nevada and play casino games all inside the comfort of the Stateline.
Eckstein died shortly after the opening of the hotel and after a small legal squabble with Eckstein’s son, Smith was left as the sole owner of The Stateline. He married Anna Sorensen, a waitress in the coffee shop of the hotel, in 1935 and in 1938 the couple decided to build a brand new hotel that would boast air conditioning, which was a real luxury back in those days.
At first, the couple had trouble procuring financing for their air conditioned hotel, but after the bankers they were trying to get funding from sat through the stifling heat of the drive from Reno to Wendover, the couple’s loan was approved.
While the hotel continued to do good business, it was during the Second World War that the new and improved Stateline saw a boom, as 19,000 soldiers who were stationed at the nearby Wendover Air Force Base (now the Wendover Airport) and who had money to spend made the Stateline their go-to hangout destination.
Wendover Will
The Stateline was rebuilt and expanded again in 1952 by the Smiths. This is when they introduced the now-famous “Wendover Will” cowboy sign; a 63-foot tall, mechanical, neon cowboy sign that welcomed visitors to Wendover.
A few more gambling parlors opened in Wendover and it became the premier gambling destination for Salt Lake City residents throughout the ‘50s. Sadly, William Smith died in 1958, but Anna Smith continued to run The Stateline and she even expanded the business by purchasing and building other casinos in the city. Throughout the ‘60s and ‘70s, Wendover’s reputation as a premier gambling destination continued to grow.
The year 1981 saw yet another expansion for the Stateline, this time by having a convention center added along with more hotel rooms and more casino space.
The Wendover Nugget
Eventually, the Smith family sold the historic Stateline and their other properties. The Stateline became the Wendover Nugget Resort & Casino in 2002 and Wendover Will was donated to the city of West Wendover to place in the city center as a landmark.
When you’re ready to take a break from winning at the Wendover Resort & Casino or the Red Garter Resort & Casino, give our little piece of history, Wendover Will, a visit. He’ll be glad to see you.

Just imagine how it would look if someone asked you about the best casino club to join and you didn’t know about One Club. You would either have to admit that you don’t know or you would have to lie and give some ridiculous answer like some other far inferior casino club.
 2. You are looking for the best way to get free stuff in Salt Lake City while having fun
If you happen to be in Salt Lake City and you also happen to like getting free stuff and you are also a big fan of having tons of fun, then you’ll need to know about One Club because it’s the ultimate way to get free stuff while also having fun.
You earn points, which also earns you comp dollars, which you can exchange for great stuff. It’s one of those win-win situations that are so popular.
 3. You’re a regular at Wendover Resorts and Casinos
If you are a regular at Wendover, it only makes sense to not only know about One Club, but to join One Club. Going to Wendover frequently and not joining One Club would be downright foolish. Imagine if you went to the casino every single week for a year and didn’t know about One Club. You would miss out on a huge amount of points and comp dollars!
 4. You want a points card in your wallet that you’ll actually use
We all have at least one points card that we signed up for thinking it was a great deal at the time only to realize later on that it just takes up space in our wallets. Those cards either eventually find their way into the garbage during a wallet purge or they stay in a card slot, nestled just out of sight, mocking you with their uselessness.
But, not a Wendover One Club card! That’s a card you’ll not only be able to use, but thoroughly enjoy using as you rack up points and get those sweet sweet comp dollars flowing in that you can trade for free stuff.
 5. You want to feel what it’s like to be a legend
Becoming a legend isn’t easy. If it was, we’d all be legends. But, becoming a legend is very much within the grasp of possibility. All you need is a One Club card and a love for having fun and winning big.
Just keep playing and having a good time and collecting those points and you will eventually fun your way to legend status (and then people will whisper your name in hushed tones as they tell their grandchildren about you).
 6. You want to be a part of something big
You are going to join thousands of other savvy casino enthusiasts in One Club who all understand that the only thing better than having the time of your life and winning big is doing it while earning comp dollars that get you free stuff.
Big prizes, big points and big piles of comp dollars all make One Club a big deal. When you’re a part of One Club, you’re part of something big.
 7. Someone takes your family hostage and forces you to join the best casino club
Hopefully you’ll never know the horror of having your loved ones put in danger, but in the completely hypothetical, but totally possible scenario that a madman takes your family hostage and demands that you not only find, but join the very best casino club this country has to offer, you’ll absolutely need to know about One Club.
In this made up scenario that could absolutely happen at any minute, you would be helpless to save your family if you didn’t know about One Club.
Go join right now. You owe it to your family.

5 Things Everyone Gets Wrong About One Club
By now, you should know all there is to know about the Wendover Resorts One Club. But, there may still be some misconceptions out there. It’s still a young club, having only been around for less than a year. We’re here to dispel any misconceptions about Wendover’s One Club.
Misconception 1: You need to pay to be a part of One Club.
Joining One Club is absolutely free. It doesn’t cost you a single dollar to sign up, but you’ll be able to use your One Club membership to earn Comp Dollars. How great is that? Sign up for free, collect points for doing all the things you love doing like playing exciting casino games and taking home big jackpots and earning comp dollars as you do so.
Misconception 2: One Club is the same for everyone.
One Club is open to everyone, but not everyone who is a member is treated the same. With multiple tiers, people who collect points and move up through the tiers get more benefits to enjoy.
Let’s say Jane and Alice both join One Club at the same time. Jane comes to one of Wendover’s beautiful resorts often and has a blast playing the games and taking advantage of all the amazing activities Wendover has to offer. Meanwhile, Alice only visits Wendover once in a blue moon and only plays the slot machines when she’s there.
In this scenario, Jane is going to move up through the tiers much faster than Alice, even though they joined at the same time. Jane will be able to enjoy more benefits and get more free stuff quicker than Alice because she’s collecting more points and improving her membership status. The more you play, the better your benefits.
Misconception 3: You need to be a long time visitor of Wendover to join One Club.
Whether it’s your first time visiting Wendover or your hundredth time visiting Wendover, you are absolutely welcome to sign up for One Club. We invite all our guests, new and … experienced. If you’re new around here, One Club is a great way to get to know both the Wendover Nugget Casino and the Red Garter Casino.
And, if you’re so familiar with the Nugget and the Red Garter that you could come in blindfolded and still be able to find your way around, then joining One Club is an excellent way to add a new level of excitement to your casino visits.
Misconception 4: You can only use your One Club Comp Dollars for lame stuff.
This one is way off. You get tons of fabulous stuff with a One Club membership. Even the bottom tier of Member still gets you free hotel stay offers. Move on up through the ranks and you get golf passes, invitations to premium events, priority seating and parking, day spa passes, NBA and MLS tickets, roundtrip limousine service, ski passes and much more.
Misconception 5: It takes too long to move up through the tiers.
How quickly you progress through the tiers depends on how often you play the games and how much you spend while you’re winning. If you come to the Wendover Nugget or the Red Garter often, you will probably rocket through the tiers in no time.
Even if you don’t come often, but you come regularly, you should still progress through the tiers at a pretty good pace and go from Member to Legend in fairly short order.
We hope this has cleared up some of the misconceptions you may have about One Club. We wouldn’t want you thinking it’s not worth joining, because it certainly is. There is so much free stuff and great deals to take advantage of.
Sign up for One Club today and start your journey up through the tiers. The sooner you get started, the sooner you’ll reach Legend status.

The Evolution of Poker
Poker is a huge part of any casino. It’s the number one game people think about when they picture gambling and it has had a storied history. Of course, saying Poker is a game is bit of a misnomer because Poker is actually an umbrella term that covers many different card games that all have the same basic elements.
Here, we explore the evolution of poker.
 Pre-Poker
Modern Poker can trace its roots back centuries and has ancestors all over the world. In ancient China, people used to play games of chance with domino cards that had the same basic premise of Poker, meaning people won based on the rank of certain card or domino combinations and the ability to bluff opponents.
Egyptians in the 12th and 13th centuries enjoyed playing games of chance with decks of cards. Sixteenth century Persians invented a 96-card playing deck they used to play several different betting games. The ancient Persians also played the popular As Nas, which used 25 cards and, like Poker, had rounds of betting and hierarchical hand rankings to determine the winner.
A Spanish game called Primero, which dates back to 1526, that involved betting and bluffing much like Poker, also became quite popular. Primero is sometimes referred to as the grandparent of modern poker because it is the earliest direct ancestor of Poker. Germans developed a game called Pochen based on Primero and the French had their own game based on Primero called Poque. Both of these games gained popularity throughout the 17th and 18th centuries.
It is the French game that is the most direct ancestor of modern poker. French colonials brought Poque, the national card game of France, to the New World with them where it got established in places like New Orleans. From there, it traveled up the Mississippi on the famous riverboats, evolving along the way and spreading throughout the United States as Poker.
 Poker Spreads
Jonathan H. Green made one of the earliest written references to Poker in 1834 when he wrote about what he called the "cheating game." However, despite this moniker, Poker continued to spread, usurping 3 Card Monte on the gambling circuit. Ironically, people preferred Poker because it was a more honest game than 3 Card Monte, which was often rigged. Poker was also seen as more of a challenging game by players who liked the strategizing it involved. Green got behind this new game and gave it a push of publicity in his book 'An Exposure of the Arts and Miseries of Gambling,' officially dubbing the new game Poker.
With little for entertainment in the vast swaths of frontierland, soldiers, cowboys and men and women of all persuasions enjoyed the game to pass the time and entertain themselves. Soldiers on both sides of the Civil War played poker while on the battlefield and in the post-war years saloons popped up in pretty much every frontier town to accommodate people’s love for the new game.
As it evolved, new elements were continually introduced like using the full 52-card French deck and the introduction of the flush as one of the hands that could win. The draw element of replacing cards to form a better hand was added prior to 1850, where it is referenced in a handbook of games.
During the aforementioned American Civil War, stud poker was introduced along with the concept of the straight as a winning hand. Further developments followed like the introduction of the wild card around 1875 and the concept of lowball and split-pot Poker around 1900. Community card poker games started popping up around the mid-1920s.
 The Modern Era
Different variations of Poker have risen to the top of the heap to become the most popular for certain stretches of time. For example, 5 Card Draw became the most popular form of Poker for almost a century, rising up from the battlefields of the Civil War and remaining the most popular form of Poker into the 20th century, with help from some questionable laws.
The state of Nevada made it a felony to run a betting game, which put Poker in jeopardy, but the attorney general of California decided that draw poker was a more skill-based game and therefore it was not covered by anti-gambling laws, unlike stud poker, which was deemed to be purely a chance game and therefore covered by anti-gambling laws. Naturally, this decision caused draw poker to become the dominant form of Poker. Nevada later reversed its decision in 1931 and legalized casino gambling, which obviously included all forms of Poker.
Shortly before the Second World War, 7 Card Stud rose up and became the most popular form of Poker for about four decades, helped along by the thriving casino industry in Las Vegas. In the 1970s, Texas Hold'em began to replace 7 Card Stud as the most popular form of Poker thanks to being used as the form played in the title game of the World Series of Poker, which got its start in 1970.
Once Poker had its own league, that was followed by the publication of serious poker strategy books in the late ‘70s. By the ‘80s and ‘90s, Poker was starting to frequently be depicted as a common pastime in pop culture like movies and television shows. And at the beginning of the 21st century, Poker saw an unprecedented spike in popularity thanks in large part to both online poker and the push to turn Poker into a spectator sport by strategically placing cameras on tables so the audience knew what cards everyone was holding even though the players did not.
Poker is now watched by millions of people on television similar to how they would watch football and its popularity has never been higher. It continues to be played in massive tournaments and in the homes of millions of people.

8 Tell-Tale Signs You Need a One Club Membership
Do you need a Wendover Resorts One Club membership? You might give it some thought and decide that you don’t need one, but there are some important tell-tale signs that you do, in fact, need one. Pay special attention to these 8 signs, as they will signal that you most definitely need to join One Club.
 1. Your life lacks excitement
There are many things you could do if your life is a little lacking in the excitement department. You could jump out of a plane or off a building (with a parachute, of course), but for adding some excitement to your life in a safe and responsible manner, getting a One Club membership is the ticket.
You get to play all your favorite casino games while receiving amazing benefits and collecting points that get you even more benefits, all in an exciting environment that will get your heart racing when you see those chips piling up.
 2. You love winning
If you get an unbelievable thrill when you win the raffle at your local bake sale, imagine the thrill of winning big at the casino. Each pull of the lever, each flip of the card, each roll of the dice and each spin of the wheel could potentially turn into a huge windfall for you.
But money isn’t the only thing you’ll be collecting. With One Club, you win no matter what happens at the gaming tables because you get points just for playing!
 3. You love getting things for free
Most of us love getting a great deal on stuff, but hunting down coupons and scouring the internet for great deals is time-consuming and a lot of hard work. Join One Club and guess what? The deals come to you! Every time you get an email or a text message, it could be a free hotel stay offer, a complimentary ticket to a big event or a deal that will save you big money.
 4. You’re sick of all the point collection cards that don’t get you anything
Most people roll their eyes at the thought of getting yet another points card because they know it will most likely sit in their wallet and not really get them anything they truly desire. A One Club membership card is guaranteed not to collect dust in your pocket. When you see just how much you can get with the One Club card, you’ll be using it as much as you possibly can.
 5. You go to Wendover Resorts often
If you already frequent Wendover Resorts, why in the world wouldn’t you get a One Club membership? You earn points for doing all the things you love doing there, so you might as well get some freebies out of it. It’s a win/win situation: visit Wendover, play the games you love playing, earn points, get free stuff.
 6. You’ve always wanted to be treated like a …
Not everyone can be a VIP or a celebrity, but with a One Club membership at Wendover Resorts, you can know what it feels like to be a VIP, a Celebrity, someone Famous or an outright Legend. As you move up through the tiers of One Club, the benefits get bigger and better. You want to know how a legend feels walking into a room? Join One Club and you’ll find out. All you need to do is collect enough points (while having a ton of fun doing it, don’t forget) and you’ll know how it feels to be a VIP, a Celebrity, Famous and a Legend. We think you’ll love how that feels.
 7. You’re on a hot streak as of late
Have things been going your way lately, like really going your way? If they have, that means you’re on a hot streak and you should put that hot streak to good use by playing your favorite games at Wendover. And while you’re there setting fire to the place with every move you make, you might as well be earning valuable One Club points.
 8. You love having fun
The most obvious sign that you should get a One Club membership is that you just plain love having fun. You love playing your favorite casino games, you love playing golf, swimming, shopping, going to events, watching sports, attending concerts, saving money, all the good stuff that comes with having a One Club membership.
If any of these pertain to you, then a One Club membership is exactly what you need. Don’t hesitate any longer to sign up. The sooner you join, the sooner you can start collecting those valuable points and getting the best deals Wendover Resorts has to offer.

9 Questions You Should Ask Before Signing Up for One Club
Before signing up for anything, you should ask some questions just to make sure you qualify and it’s still something you want to do after you know all the details. One Club isn’t a huge commitment to join, but you may have some questions about it before joining.
Here are 9 questions to ask before you sign up for One Club and start getting that bevy of benefits:
 1. Is there an age restriction?
Yes. Like many fun things in life, you have to be 21 to join One Club. You also must have a valid photo ID to join One Club.
 2. How do I know how many points a game will give me on my One Club card?
You simply present your One Club card to a pit supervisor to find out the various table ratings or you insert it into a slot machine to find out that machine’s rating. The table games you can play at the Wendover Nugget and the Red Garter include Blackjack, Royal Match, Roulette, Craps, Let It Ride, Three Card Poker and Pai Gow Poker. As for slots, Wendover Resorts offers a large array of gaming machines, both video and reel. Denominations range from pennies to twenty five dollars.
 3. How many accounts can you have?
You can only have one single One Club account.
 4. Can I trade my comp dollars for real dollars?
No, comp dollars cannot be exchanged or substituted for real dollars.
 5. Can I transfer my points or comp dollars to a different account?
No. The points and comp dollars you accumulate in your One Club accounts have to stay associated with that One Club account. They cannot be transferred to a different One Club account.
 6. How often do I have to play games to retain my comp dollars?
If you do not engage in rated play for one full year, you will lose all the comp dollars you have accumulated. Therefore, you must play at least one rated game at least one time per year to retain your comp dollars.
 7. How do I redeem comp dollars?
An active One Club membership card and photo ID is required to redeem comp dollars. Simply present your One Club card with PIN at any point of sale.
 8. How do I move up through the various tiers of One Club?
The tiered cards of One Club -- Member, VIP, Celebrity, Famous and Legend -- are based on a 12-month period of accumulated points. All points are tracked by the One Card system and the qualifying tiers are determined by the following preset point thresholds:
 ●     Member - 0
●     VIP - 500
●     Celebrity - 2,000
●     Famous - 7,000
●     Legend - 25,000
 9. Where can I redeem One Club comp dollars?
The comps you earn at Wendover Resorts may be redeemed for dining at any of the fabulous restaurants like the Nugget Buffet, the Nugget Steakhouse, the Golden Harvest Cafe, Starbucks, Trino’s Tacos and Dryer’s in the Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino or the Prospector Cafe, The Italia Ristorante and Beans & Brews in the Red Garter Hotel and Casino.
They can also be used for hotel room stays at either the Nugget or Red Garter and at the bars and lounges, including the Red Garter’s Garter Sports Bar and Garter Stage Bar or the Nugget Sports Bar, The Martini Bar, the Cigar Bar and the Billiards Bar at the Wendover Nugget.
The comp dollars can also be used at the gift shops and other amenities. These comps and points have no cash value.
Now that you know all the fine print about the Wendover Resorts One Club, it’s time to sign up and start collecting points and earning those comp dollars.

6 Common Misconceptions About Wendover Casinos
Fans of Wendover Resorts will know all about them, but people who may not be completely familiar with either the Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino or the Red Garter Hotel and Casino may have a few misconceptions about them.
That’s okay, because we’re here to clear up some common misconceptions about Wendover Resorts that you may have. Here are six common misconceptions about Wendover casinos that we’re happy to dispel:
 1. Everyone gets treated the same
Everyone gets treated well at Wendover Resorts, but people aren’t treated exactly equally. That’s because at Wendover, we have the One Club. This exclusive Wendover Resorts club has five tiers to it -- Member, VIP, Celebrity, Famous and Legend -- and you move up through the tiers by collecting points. As you move up through the tiers, you also get increasingly lucrative benefits to enjoy. So, someone who has taken the time and effort to collect enough points to move up through the tiers is going to get deals and offers that someone who just joined (or hasn’t yet joined) would not be getting. To get the same treatment as a legend, you have to become a legend yourself.
 2. If you can’t get your check cashed, you can’t play at Wendover
Don’t you hate it when you can’t get to the bank in time to cash a check, especially right before the weekend? Your whole weekend plan of going to Wendover and having a blast while doubling your money goes right out the window … except that it doesn’t. At Wendover, we are happy to cash that check for you. Just fill out our check cashing application form, mail it to us with the required paperwork and within a few weeks, you’ll have check cashing privileges at Wendover.
 3. Wendover won’t have a slot machine game that I enjoy
This may be true at other casinos, but at Wendover, you are bound to find a machine that you like to play. We have a bevy of different machines, both video and reel. If you want to play for pennies a spin, we’ve got machines for that. If you want to play for $25 a spin, we have machines for that, too.
 4. Wendover won’t have a table game that I like to play
Just like with our slots, Wendover resorts has a variety of live table games to play. Our pits feature Blackjack, Royal Match, Roulette, Craps, Let it Ride, Three Card Poker and Pai Gow Poker. Each of these games has different odds of winning and rely on different strategies. You’re bound to find one you love to play.
 5. If I go to Wendover, I’ll miss watching that sporting event I wanted to watch
At Wendover, we know that people want to play the games they love, but they also want to watch the sports they love and keep up to date with what’s going on in the world. Thanks to Wendover’s multitude of big-screen LCD and LED televisions located throughout both the Wendover Nugget and Red Garter, you can easily keep an eye on your favorite sport or news program while also winning big at whatever casino game you’re playing.
 6. If I don’t play slots or table games, there will be nothing for me to do
There’s always Keno! The Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino’s Keno Lounge offers the only live Keno game in all of Wendover. You can bet up to 1,000 games at a time. You can turn a $2 wager into a $50,000 win by hitting 11 out of 11. Plus, you can keep track of your Keno numbers on any of the many Keno LCD screens peppered throughout both the casino and dining areas. Even the Red Garter’s Sports Bar and Stage Bar get in on the Keno action by hosting a satellite to the Wendover Nugget’s Keno game.
And if Keno isn’t your thing, you can always place a wager at the William Hill Sports Book and then sit back and watch that sporting event on one of the 18 42-inch LCD televisions or one of the three giant projection televisions in the Sport Book. And if you’re feeling peckish or parched, the Sports Book is in close proximity to the Stage Bar and food court, so you can easily zip out during the game and grab what you need. During football season, you can enjoy the NFL Sunday package, plus weekly merchandise giveaways. And if all that isn’t awesome enough, an automated kiosk makes after hour wagering possible.
We hope these have cleared up any lingering misconceptions you may have about Wendover Resorts.

Are You Getting the Most Out of Your One Club Membership?
We all have those rewards cards in our wallets that just stay there, doing nothing. We don’t use them, we don’t collect the points on them and, eventually, we forget they are there and they just end up making our wallets fatter without actually giving us any benefits.
But, the Wendover Resorts One Club card isn’t like that at all. It gives you real benefits that you can use to make your trip to Wendover even better than it already will be. A fun exercise to try when you get your One Club card and start off as a member is to make yourself a checklist of all the great benefits of One Club and then start ticking them off as you take advantage of them. It’s the ultimate way of knowing that you’ve used your One Club membership to its fullest potential.
  Start With Your Member Benefits
When you join, you have the designation of Member and you automatically start off with a whole bunch of amazing benefits. To get the most out of your membership, take advantage of as many benefits as you can.
Becoming a member means Wendover will be sending you free weekly promotions and special discounts via email, text and social media, along with free hotel stay offers and the ability to play swipe to win games at kiosks. To make sure you’re getting the most out of your Member status, use all the superb deals Wendover sends your way.
 500 Points
When you’ve accumulated 500 points and have moved up to the VIP tier, you have even more benefits thrown at you. First off, start with a celebratory complimentary drink (but please always remember to be responsible while drinking) and go to one of the special events that you will be invited to as a VIP.
If you’re a golfer, definitely use the complimentary golf passes and if you’re not a golfer, use them anyway. Why not try out something new?
 2,000 Points
Earn 2,000 points and you’re up at the Celebrity tier. Make sure you head to a kiosk when it’s your birthday for a complimentary chance to win. Even if it’s not your birthday, VIPs still get a bonus swipe to win at the kiosks along with a five percent discount at the gift shop.
 7,000 Points
Famous tier One Club members get personal service from the casino host. What exactly does that service entail? Collect the 7,000 points required to join the Famous tier and see for yourself.
Obviously, not everyone feels like going out all the time, even when they’re staying at a Wendover Resort. That’s okay, though, because as a Famous One Club member, you can enjoy in-room movies and games. When you do feel like going out, though, be sure to take advantage of the invitations to premium events you receive when you reach the Famous tier.
Along with invitations, you also get premium gifts and offers, plus a four to one comp to free play exchange rate per week (up to $250).
 25,000 Points
It’s when you reach the Legend tier with 25,000 points that the benefits really stand out. The list of benefits grows and beckons you to take advantage. As a Legend, you get an exclusive parking area, but you don’t really have to drive anywhere after that because you also get round-trip limousine service. Where can you go with that limousine service? How about to a special event, where you get premium seating as a Legend tier member? Or, how about a Salt Lake City day spa, where you get complimentary service? You can ride a limousine to the Hogle Zoo or the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, for which you also get comp passes. You can also get comp NBA, MLS and concert tickets and ski passes.
A room is always guaranteed for you as a Legend tier member and even if you’re a bright-eyed and bushy tailed morning person who gets up at the crack of dawn, go ahead and request a complimentary late check out. Who doesn’t like to take their time?
Enjoy a three to one comp to free play exchange rate per week (up to $250), plus a 20 percent discount at the gift shop when you’ve reached Legend status.
To fully realize the potential of your One Club membership, you need to move up through the tiers and get as many complimentary tickets and passes as you can while also using the superb discounts you are privy to.
Sign up and get started on getting the most out of your One Club membership.

These are seven things about gambling at Wendover you may not have known:
1. Wendover has the best casino club: One Club
Fittingly, at number one is the Wendover Resorts One Club. By joining this club, you will earn points as you play casino games. These points will move you up through the five different tiers of One Club, earning you comp dollars and all kinds of great deals along the way. You play, you win, you earn and you win again with One Club.
The five tiers of One Club are:

2. You can apply to get extended casino credit
What’s better than having casino credit? Even more casino credit, of course! At Wendover Resorts, you can apply for extended casino credit, which helps expedite your ability to cash a check when you arrive and also enables you to cash checks more frequently and at higher limits than you would normally be able to.
3. Ticket-In Ticket-Out
The entire gaming floor is equipped with Ticket-In Ticket-Out technology and an automated player tracking system. What this means for you is that it allows us to provide you with unsurpassed customer service.
4. Wendover Resorts offers the largest variety of live games in West Wendover
Wendover’s gaming pits feature Blackjack, Royal Match, Roulette, Craps, Let It Ride, Three Card Poker and Pai Gow Poker. You can also enjoy live game play while watching your favorite sporting event or news channel on one of twelve, 55 inch LED televisions located overhead.
5. Progressive BlackJack Tournament
Wendover hosts a progressive blackjack tournament every Friday at 10 p.m. Buy-in is $30 (no comp dollar entries) and the house adds an additional $100 to the prize pool and an additional $100 to the progressive jackpot.
The payouts for the progressive jackpot are:
Spade Crown Treasure: 50% of progressive
Diamond Crown Treasure: 40% of progressive
Club Crown Treasure: 30% of progressive

The payouts for the tournament are:

6. Only live Keno game in Wendover
The Keno Lounge at the Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino offers the only live Keno game in all of Wendover. Players can bet up to 1,000 games at a time. You can win $50,000 by hitting 11 out of 11 with as little as a $2 wager. Track your numbers on any of the many Keno LCDs located throughout the casino and dining areas. A satellite to this game is available at the Sports Bar and Stage Bar at the Red Garter Hotel and Casino so you never miss out on the action.
7. Sports Book
If you’re a sports betting person, you can place your wager at William Hill Sports Book and watch your favorite sport on any of the 18 available 42-inch LCD televisions to watch or the three giant projection televisions. The close proximity of the stage bar and food court mean food and drink are easy to grab at game time. During football season, you can enjoy the NFL Sunday package plus weekly merchandise giveaways. On top of all that, an automated kiosk makes after hour wagering available.
Now that you know all there is to know about Wendover Resorts, it’s time to put everything you’ve learned to good use by heading to Wendover to have fun and experience everything there is to do there.
