I’ve seen a lot of curious people wanting to dive into classical music but don’t know where to start, so I have written out a list of pieces to listen to depending on mood. I’ve only put out a few, but please add more if you want to. hope this helps y’all out. :)

if you need to sleep:

1812 overture
symphony no. 5, finale (tchaikovsky) (added by viola-ology)

dance of the knights (from the romeo and juliet suite by prokofiev)

if you want to feel emotional with no explanation:

if you want to sit back and have a nice cup of tea:

pieces that don’t really have a valid explanation:
symphony no. 40 (mozart)

pieces that just sound really cool:

and if you really just hate classical music in general:
4′33″ (cage)
a lot of these pieces apply in multiple categories, but I sorted them by which I think they match the most. have fun exploring classical music!
also, thank you to viola-ology and iwillsavemyworld for adding on! if you would like to add on your own suggestions, please reblog and add on or message me so I can give you credit for the suggestion!

The first words that came out of your mouth was “you disgust me”, “change your ways”. You wonder why I tell you I feel no compassion from you as you drill those words into my ears. You took care of me as a child, and you now think you have the right to strip my dignity away from me. Applaud yourself. You destroyed what was left of my soul.
Your father is depressed you say. I lie in my bed every night with quiet fury burning in my chest, and instead of screaming my frustrations out, I resort to quiet pain as tears flush from my eyes. Be proud of yourselves. You are depressed because your son was born this way. I am depressed because you do not know the meaning of accepting your own child. I am depressed because you wished I was dead. I am depressed because you are ashamed to call me your son.
You sentence me to an eternity in hell for simply loving someone. You congratulate yourself on tearing my self-esteem in a matter of days; the self-esteem that I built up over many years -- because how dare your son lead a happy life. How dare he find someone he loves. How dare he choose to accept himself. How dare you point your finger at me for being a dirty animal. How dare you.
Pride yourselves in destroying the last bit of humanity that was left in me.

I don't know what's happening with you, but never ever think that you're not worth it and do not hate yourself. You don't deserve that.
