Planning on Coming to Canada for W2021 intake?
We are pleased to announce that Mohawk College will begin welcoming new students to Canada as of November 17, following confirmation from the Government of Canada. Visit the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website for full details.
I want to travel – What are my next steps?
Our Arrivals team is here to support you throughout your journey to Canada and Mohawk College. We will continue to welcome students who wish to study overseas in the upcoming semester as long they have a valid study permit or an Approval in Principle (AIP).
Your next steps is to inform us of your visa status. For students who have fulfilled their admissions requirements, and paid full fees by November 15, watch for an email message in the next week requesting important information about your visa status and intent to travel.
In order to travel to Canada you will need to have an approved study permit and travel quarantine plan. You and any co-arriving family members are required to quarantine for the mandatory 14 day period upon arrival in Canada. Our Arrivals team will share the exact steps and additional details following your visa confirmation submission. No travel should be arranged until plans are approved by Mohawk College. Plans must be submitted at least 2 weeks before your planned arrival. Once approved we will provide you with documentation that you can share with immigration officials upon arrival in Canada.
Arriving in Canada
Mohawk College has been working with community partners to offer students a comprehension welcome package that will meet all your arrival needs, including transportation and accommodations. This package will be offered to students at a significant discount to traditional service packages. The Arrivals team will be available to support you with reviewing and booking these packages directly through the College.
Please read the information on our Entering Canada website for details on quarantine requirements, packages, your arrivals and supports from Mohawk College. We highly recommend that you attend our enhanced Pre-Departure session on November 25, 2020 from 9 to 11am (EST). If you cannot attend this recording will be available upon request.
When should I arrive?
The IRCC has indicated that new students beginning studies in January 2021 may arrive starting December 1, 2020 if they have a valid study permit.
If you are beginning a hybrid program, we recommend you arrive no later than the week of December 20, 2020 in order for you to fulfill your quarantine requirements and begin classes on time.
