My name is Amina duJean(aminyan) and I’m a detroit girl who moved to Japan to live alone at age 18. It’s been hard times and good times but I won’t ever give up to pursue my dreams.

I’m a black girl from Detroit who has gone from all black schools, to predominately white, to mixed and now to mainly Asian. I love collecting figurines as much as love fashion, watching documentaries, Touhou Project or Frank Ocean. I’ve never felt like I fit in “geek culture” but I think I can be a voice for those in it. That’s why Miss iD( an idol with an identity) struck a cord with me.

Recently I’ve become a semifinalist in Kodansha’s annual miss iD contest. Considering 4,000 girls applied and I’m now #20 out of #100 semifinalists I’m so so grateful for all of your support and the opportunities alongside it.
