First time being back and I’m writing about an unconventional Love interest and I AM HERE FOR IT

I’m also here for running to far with an idea and I apologize if it’s not what you wanted D:

This is a little angsty so buckle in!

This takes place before the calamity, when Kohga is notably younger (since sheikah live for a damn long time, and in his battle he seems near elderly). 

It had been nearly six months since you had decided to join the Yiga Clan. It wasn’t an easy decision. You watched your friends abandon the sheikah tribe and pledge their allegiance to Calamity Ganon. Seeing the anguish their families went through as they left kakariko village and fled to the desert, it saddened you. To turn your back on the royal family and agree with a monster seemed atrocious, but when Kohga had left his home - and you - behind to be their leader, you couldn’t take it anymore. You decided to infiltrate the Yiga clan, in an attempt to change Kohga’s mind. He was your childhood friend, and to see him be corrupted by a beast over the last year was disheartening. Still, you didn’t give up.

You slid down next to a group of members, letting out a sigh and eating the third banana of today. While you didn’t agree with their views, the bananas certainly made you feel mighty. You had become an excellent fighter over the last year and you partially blame the yellow berry for it. You lift your mask up just enough to chow on the fruit. 

“So, Y/N, heard anything from the master today?” One of the people in the group inquires. Everyone at this point looked the same, it was unnatural to remove one’s mask in the midst of others. This one you recognized to be a footsoldier, but nothing more than that. Your name had traveled around as Kohga announced you to be a former companion of his. It gave you an air of respect among the community.

Though, truth be told, he had been acting odd the last few days (more so than usual of course, he was always boisterous. It was charming, though). He’d kept his distance from you, confiding in others rather than his childhood friend. Was he on to you? Did he know you were trying to change his mind about the kingdom? The footsoldiers question raised the hairs on the back of your neck, wondering if this was the day all would turn on you.

“Not really…” you mutter in response after swallowing the large bite of banana. “Have you?” The person who inquired shook his head and shrugged, and you relaxed a little bit. Suddenly, the false wall twisted, trembling the hideout around you. You turned to see Kohga, arms crossed and more stern than you had seen him in a long time. 

“Y/N. Come here.” His voice was monotone, not the same light-hearted nature he normally offered you. It made your heart tense as you stood up, leaving your mighty banana behind as you stepped towards him. You remained silent as you entered his arena. 

The door slammed behind you, and you jump for a bit as you look behind you at the masked leader. Feeling your heart race, you waited for what he had to tell you, and most likely kill you over. The air was tense around you, and the only sounds around you was the whistling of the wind above, and your heart hammering against your chest. He was silent as he stood before you, and his movements were still, if not a little fidgety. 

“Koh-... Master. Is there something wrong I have done.” At the broken silence he lets out a huff. Turning around to look away from you, and you almost dropped to your knees from the anxious silence. You lock your hands in front of you and let your fingers entertain themselves as to not let your mind soar to the worst possible conclusion. The lump in your throat remained. You’ve known him for so long. Before he left you thought you may be together forever. Your feelings had developed so, and when he left it nearly broke your heart. It was why you were here. “Kohga-...” You start to cut in but he lifts a hand.

“Just… give me a second.” His voice was different from the one he presented earlier in front of others, nearly sheepish, almost shaking. After another moment of silence he drew in a large breath and peeled off his mask, turning back towards you. It had been a while since you had seen his face. His notable pointed ears were always visible, but his crimson irises had been hidden from you for a long time. His features had sharpened with age, and he had toned out with the search for killing the princess. He was no longer the chubby friend you knew. He was a man. 

A man you didn’t recognize, and it hurt your heart further. 

You mirror him, removing your own mask and hiding the hurt emotions you felt, gripping the mask close to your chest. “Why am I here?” You ask, and with every word a piece of your heart broke. He could see it in your eyes.

“Y/N… when I found out you were coming to join us I was so excited,” his stern expression broke for only a second, and you saw your friend behind corruption. “I thought ‘they finally came to the right choice, the choice of ganon’ and I was so ready to train you.” He runs his hands through his hair, and a noticeable tint to his skin became apparent as the sun grew higher into the sky. “The way I’ve seen you grow and become who you are today… it’s…” any confidence he had diminished in the moment as he looked up at you, making eye contact. The tint grew deeper, and he turned around once more with a long groan. You were very confused, was he just here to tell you he knew your purpose? A sigh passed through your lips, if you were to die you might as well try one more time. 

“Kohga… I know why I’m here.” You said calmly, stepping forward. He twisted around quickly, eyes wide. 

“Y-You do?” He inquired, and you nodded, a somber expression painting your face. 

“Yes… but you have to understand my intentions.” You come forward, heart beating rapidly. You used to love this man, and you wanted to love him again. Your hand lifted up and rested on his chest, gnawing on your lower lip. “I’ve always seen good in you, and I still do. You’re my best friend and to see you give up your life for-” Instantly he pulls back, and the tint on his cheeks is gone. 

“Wait… what?” He asked, shock in his voice as he looks over you. Behind the corruption now lied betrayal, which only confused you more.

“Isn’t that why you brought me here? You know I’m trying to bring you home?” Corruption, anger, betrayal, and a feeling of heartbreak you know all to well passed through his eyes. 

“You’re still on her side?” His expression twisted and you took a hesitant step back. “After all she’s done to hide our people from existence, after all Hyrule has done to forget us?!” His voice rose as he stepped towards you, fire now in his eyes. 

“Kohga-”

“I thought we’d rule together! I thought you were the one that’d help me take down that damn family so the great Ganon can rule!” Behind the fire lay pain, and hurt, and you felt it reflect your own emotions. “Please, Kohga-” You couldn’t get a word in as he pulled out his sickle, pointing it towards you as you stumble to the ground out of fear. He looks over you for a moment, watching you tremble under his blade, and his anger melts to his own fear. 

“Y/N, I…” He whispers, stepping back and dropping his blade. Tears sting your eyes as you watch your friend slip away. “I love you…” His voice was very audible and as long as you wanted to hear those words, they did nothing but cause your heart to break more. 

“I…” you stood up slowly, hesitantly. “I could never love someone… who turns his back on his people…” Each word that passed through your lips were like daggers, for both him and you. His expression fell for a moment, before turning back to anger as he returned his mask back on. “Go.” He growled out turning away. You didn’t need more coaxing. Your training had allowed you to harness the shadow ability you were born with, and you used it to leave by way of the open ceiling above. It was cold in the Gerudo Highlands, but not nearly as cold as Kohga’s heart. 

You make your way to Kakariko village, heavy hearted and longing for more time, time that never came.

     Aight so I don’t really text but the last person I snapchatted was a REALLY old friend who I hadn’t talked to in years, but she has always been one of the most beautiful women I know, and is super committed to her boyfriend. 

SO HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING

It’d be really interesting because we’re both not sure about our sexualities right now, I’d always identified as bisexual but I’m not sure I’m attracted to the female form as I am the male form, so it would probably help clarify some things!

I know it’s not super dramatic lol, but I’m 21 I’m tired of drama :P (except in my writing of course, bring the drama!!!)
