I vaguely remember back in 6th grade, when my English teacher would talk about starting papers with a “hook”.

What’s a hook? An attention grabber. Something that hooks in the reader, inviting them to delve deeper into your work. It could be the opening line of your essay, or perhaps the title.

7 years later, I can’t help but notice how, well, boring hooks have become.
