someone sent a meme in a discord server i'm in that was like "99% of deltarune fans quit right before they correctly predict a character as irredeemably evil" featuring king and spamton and carol and the like but then everyone was like "ok but spamton is irredeemable though" let's all play undertale again and you're not allowed to stop until you understand what toby was trying to say ok
#I don’t even want spamton to be redeemed I just want him to make out with the tv sloppy style#ok but fr I think another part of it too is that many ppl in many fandoms#don’t want the characters they like to be bad people#and they don’t want the characters they dislike to be good people. you know#like they feel like their morals have to align with what characters they like/dislike instead of simply.#liking/disliking them#I think that’s the reason so many ppl insist that Toriel is a bad person for example#when in reality they simply don’t like her. or they like Asgore and have to blame someone else for his moral faultings#liking/disliking a more nuanced character then becomes a moral failing so that’s how you get ppl like#spamton did nothing wrong/spamton is a horrible irredeemable person#and with medias like UTDR where the#majority of characters are nuanced and in more of a gray area#that can become rly wild#like with the Toriel and Asgore thing. both are a middle ground but if u like Asgore you have to blame his failings on Toriel#or else you have to say you like a character who isn’t a Good Person That Does No Wrong#like#guys pls it’s so fun to like characters who have done stuff wrong!!!#it’s more interesting there’s more to sink your teeth into!!!#idk#maybe I’m reading too much into it bc I used to do that when I was younger#TLDR they’re not irredeemable you just need a moral reason as to why you don’t like them#sorry for rant
