Muskoka Summers
Let's play a game of memory here. You may recall that I confessed a few posts back that the Brasilazy Canada team grew up in Barrie. Now, for all the jokes made at Barrie's expense, I must admit that I love the place, both for nostalgia and for an escape from the city. What I also loved about living in Barrie is how close it is to an even better escape in Muskoka. Spending time there in the summers created some of my greatest childhood memories.
With that in mind, the brasilazy team is looking forward to exhibiting at the Muskoka In-Water Boat and Cottage show this weekend. Come visit us there at Muskoka Wharf, 821 Bay St., Gravenhurst ON, because seriously, the brasilazy is the new Muskoka chair!
Doesn't this picture just say it all?!

'Lazy Sundays: Queen West
As is usually the case on a 'lazy Sunday, today has been a day of catching up on the pile of newspapers, magazines and other miscellaneous tasks before the start of another work week. Today's reading list included a New York Times article, 'In Toronto, a Second Act' on the influx of eclectic boutiques in Queen West.
Having just been in that very neighbourhood last night, I made mental notes of the shops, restaurants and galleries I wanted to come back and visit. While I've never felt cool enough for this hipster chic 'hood, the entrance of retailers like Loblaws and CB2 has made it more approachable, much to the dismay of said hipsters I'm sure.
With the proximity of the 'lazy Lounge to the enigmatic Queen West, maybe I'll gather up the courage to drag a 'lazy over to Trinity-Bellwoods to wind down this 'lazy Sunday....

A crazy Saturday, then a 'Lazy Sunday
Most of the Brasilazy Canada crew grew up in Barrie, and as so, we always had easy access to the local beaches, the beaches of Wasaga and the not too far Muskoka Lakes. Having made the transition to Toronto, surrounded by the concrete jungle, it takes a lot of motivation to seek out similar bodies of water that are fit for enjoying.
With this in mind, we were delighted to hear about Birdbath Toronto at the Polson Pier pool, located behind Sound Academy at 11 Polson St.
More like something you might find at a scene-y hotel in Vegas, this is where the young and beautiful come to be seen and sunned, oh yeah and there is some water as well. We set up our 'lazy lounge last Saturday, and will be there all summer long so come and join. Just remember to practice safe sun!
Dates:
Saturday July 14
Saturday July 21
Saturday July 28
Saturday August 11
Sunday August 19
Saturday August 25

The 'Lazy Lounge is now open for business!
We want to send out a huge thank you to all of you Brasilazy Canada fans and supporters who came out on June 22 to celebrate our official launch. We couldn't have been happier to make a toast to our new space with some of our favourite people. For those who couldn't make it, enjoy some snaps from the eve and stop by for a lounge, some free wifi and some great conversation at 266 Adelaide St. West.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

'Lazy Sundays
How have you been spending this gorgeous Sunday? While there's nothing better than a 'lazy Sunday in June, summer also brings lots of great street festivals. Toronto's Woofstock is certainly one of the most cuddly street festivals you'll ever see.
Brasilazy took the opportunity to offer the hard working dogs who competed this weekend some well needed R&R with their very own dogs beds! We're excited to share our very first shipment of dogs beds with North America's Largest Festival for Dogs. Check them out! www.brasilazy.ca
Do you have pics of your pup at Woofstock? Share them on our Facebook page! www.facebook.com/brasilazycanada We know puplove.ca was there!
How regal does Nova look at the Woofstock Doggy Diamond Jubilee on her Brasilazy throne?!

So who are we? V.3: Lorraine
And finally, who am I? Lorraine, writer and curator of all things visual.
Tumblr media
  Favourite vacation destination
New York, Paris, and I have a new found love for Italy. I love active, educational vacations.
Twitter, facebook or pinterest and why
Pinterest hands down. I’m a very visual person and there’s so much to see and learn there. Each picture takes you to a new link which you have to learn more about. I love creating a narrative about a person I’ve never met based on their pin boards.
Favourite artists, architects, musicians, actors
Chuck Close, Mark Rothko, Frank Gehry (for his buildings and his jewellery), Jean Nouvel, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra
Early riser or night owl and why
Early riser. When you get up early you feel like the world is your oyster.
What inspires you
A sunny day, the smell of lilacs, New York, other creative minds, my mom, my dad, my brother.
Favourite sport/workout
Yoga, running – both outside preferably. I’m appallingly horrible at team sports.
Walk, bike or drive
I walk to get everywhere. If I got on a bike in the city I wouldn’t get off alive.
One life goal
To live in New York.
City or country
City, with refreshers in the country every now and then.
How do you brasilazy
On my balcony, early on a Saturday morning, with my espresso and the weekend paper.

So who are we? V.2: Chris
In our second installment, meet Chris, Nate’s co-founding partner in crime, has a flair for the sale and has helped us form our many amazing partnerships.
Tumblr media
  Favourite vacation destination
I guess the destinations I haven’t been yet.  I think I really need to start going to places more than once, besides Florida, before I choose a favourite.
Twitter, facebook or pinterest and why Twitter.  I like that you can really search for the people and ideologies that interest you most.  I like Facebook because it’s more user friendly and it keeps people close to me. From a business standpoint, I enjoy following the trends on our FB page.  If I had to choose, like if one were to be deleted, then I’d definitely choose Facebook because of functionality.
Favourite artists, architects, musicians, actors etc
I don’t like these questions because I find that people want to get a handle on who you are based on a few names said.  Now if the question asked about favourite books, songs, movies, plays…it would be easier for me to answer.
Early riser or night owl and why
Early riser for sure.  Usually if I’m in bed before 3, I’ll be up no later than 8.
What inspires you
How little we know :)
Favourite sport/workout
Squash or tennis.  I really want to make running part of a routine.
Walk, bike or drive
Definitely a walker, but I do want a bike.  And soon
One life goal
To Listen
City or country
Both
How do you brasilazy
Lazy laid flat and me falling asleep watching something online is a common occurrence.

So who are we? V.1: Nate
So who are we? Allow us to introduce ourselves……
While we love to talk about brasilazy, we want to give you a sense of who we are, what else we love and where we’re coming from. Maybe we have something in common?
In the first of three installments, our Brasilazy Canada team will all answer the same 10 questions to give you a taste of who we are. Let’s start with our Co-Founder, Nate, who discovered the art of brasilazy-ing while on a kite surfing vacation while in Cumbuco, Brasil.

Favourite vacation destination:
Beaches with constant winds and flat water adjacent to the ocean. Places with old architecture and heritage, and locals who appreciate the finer things in life.
Twitter, facebook or pinterest and why
Facebook, because of the timeline, and the photoalbums
Favourite artists, architects, musicians, actors  Salvidor Dali, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Sam Maloof, Chris Kornell, Deadmau5, Propellerheads, Daft Punk, Jurassic 5, LMFAO...
Early riser or night owl and why Nights, probably because I love to sleep in and have too much momentum by the end of the day
  What inspires you
Simplicity, quality, beauty, emotional expansion
Favourite sport/workout Kitesurf, snowboard, citysurfing Walk, bike or drive Drive but I wish I was biking. Most often I'm hauling something around, I want to invent a flintstone powered truck
One life goal
Be a good father
  City or country
Right on the edge of the city with a huge barn and vegetable garden...or the city with a rooftop garden and a shared workspace
How do you brasilazy
Whil'st I write this email, web crawl and sketch; watch a movie or cozy into the balcony corner with a cold beer in the late afternoon sun.

FAT Day 2: The Energy
There's an undeniable energy at a fashion show. The music starts and you can feel the collective anticipation of the crowd before the first look graces the runway. With the first model's footstep, there's such a great energy as the crowd feels like they're really a part of something coming to life: the months of inspiration, creation and preparation that the designer has poured into this representation of their internal creative process. We hope these photos from Arts and Fashion Week capture that energy. And we can't forget to give a huge thanks to our good friend Jason Hargrove for helping document brasilazy at |FAT|. Check out his photos from the launch party at Church Aperitivo Bar on Queen West.

FAT Day 1: Debut of the Zube
In addition to sharing our brasilazies at FAT's Arts and Fashion Week, we're outfitting our exclusive lounge with zubes. What is a zube you ask? A zube is a skewed cube of course! Designed by nathan alexander, Brasilazy Canada Co-Founder, as a low-profile table complement to the brasilazy, zubes can be styled separately, or as a grouping in many different configurations to create platforms and tables that suit the unique needs of any room. Here's how the zubes and brasilazies came together to create the lounge on Day 1. Stay tuned for its transformation on Day 2!

Spring fashion has sprung
|FAT's| Arts and Fashion Week kicks off today, and brings the exclusive brasilazy lounge along with it. In the spirit of all things fashion, we're taking a page from the runways of Milan and New York. Colour is king this season and we love the bright happy hues that D&G sent down the runway. We couldn't help but notice hows the similarities between D&G's peppy brights, and our own brasilazy collection. While we haven't debuted a purple yet, this amazing collection from Prabal Gurung, complete with purple popsicle stained lips, has me melting for a brasilazy that comes in graphic grape. It would be perfect for sitting out on the back deck enjoying my own iced summer treat. Inspiration? Perhaps!
