Drive from Arusha to Machame Park Gate, for registrations formalities then we will start walk through the rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge. At lower elevations the trail can be muddy and slippery. Gaiters and trekking poles are a good idea here. We continue a short distance until we reach the Machame Camp.
Day 2: trek Machame Camp to Shira Camp
After breakfast we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the valley along a steep rocky ridge. The route now turns west onto a river gorge until we arrive at the Shira campsite.
Day 3: trek Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
From the Shira Plateau we continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the Shark’s Tooth (elev 4650 m/15,250 ft). Shortly after the tower we come to the second junction which goes to the Arrow Glacier. We now continue down to the Barranco Camp. Although you end the day around the same elevation as when you began, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for summit day.
Day 4: trek Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge up the Barranco Wall (elev 4250 m/13,900 ft), through the Karanga Valley (elev 4050 m/13,250 ft) to the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the Barafu Camp. You have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp with views of the summit in the distance.
Day 5: Summit to Mweka Camp
Very early in the morning (midnight to 2 am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see. Faster hikers may view the sunrise from the summit, From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. Once at Uhuru Peak you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa, from the summit we begin our descent by continuing straight down to the Mweka Camp, stopping at Barafu for lunch. You may want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. We arrive at Mweka Camp and enjoy our last evening on the mountain.
Day 6: Mweka Camp to Arusha
After breakfast we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Classic Shoes Every Man Should Own
There are two simple rules when it comes to your shoe collection. The first: having a versatile range to cover all bases. The second: Sticking to the classic styles. Whatever your look, whatever your budget and whatever’s in the diary over the next 12 months, if you invest in a pair of well-made shoes in each of the following timeless styles, you’ll be covered for any occasion.
Loafer
From the foot of the royal family to the feet of the everyday man, the loafer has been through it all. It was in the 1920s when men started to wear the loafer to city lounges in America. Since then, the loafer crept its way up to the more formal stakes and we now see it as both a formal and casual staple. It’s an undeniable classic that will never go out of style.
Once you’ve got loafers in your wardrobe, the next step is learning how to rock them with style and swagger. Casual loafers can be worn with denim and khakis, and sockless with shorts during warm seasons. If you’re dressing them up, style them with a blazer or and stick to dark colours and high-quality materials for a refined finish.
Brogue
Up until the mid 20th century, brogues were not considered a formal shoe, and to wear them for occasions other than country walking was frowned upon. They came mainly in brown, due to their practical and country origins, but they were developed in black when it became acceptable to wear them for business. The perforations were designed for functionality and durability in wet terrain. The design has since evolved and the small holes are now mostly for decorative purposes. In fact, it is this detail that brogues are now renowned for.
The beauty of the Brogue is its versatility and effortless appeal. You can rock a pair with jeans and a button down right through to tailored suits and formalwear. Brogues are also a great staple for your business attire.
Monk Strap
The monk strap shoe was, you guessed it, originally made for European monks as a more formal dress shoe alternative to sandals. Their buckle was to ensure secure placement on the foot and they originally had steel toe caps to give them protection.
Pair your Monk Strap shoes with a formal trouser or with a suit. For more detailing, roll up the cuff of the trousers so that the buckles of monk shoes are shown fully. For a more casual look, style your shoes with a V-neck t-shirt, fitted blazer and jeans. Suave.
Boat Shoe
Like their name implies, boat shoes were first created for sailors. As the story goes, in the early 1930s, Paul Sperry, an ardent sailor, and boater, took his dog out for and was amazed by his grip while running across ice. Upon closer examination he realised the cracks and grooves on his dog’s feet formed a herringbone-like pattern that gave him grip. Sperry then formed the idea of cutting similar patterns on the soles of the shoes he used while boating.
Today, the soft leather moccasin-toed loafer-style shoe has made a mark on modern style. Being both presentable and sophisticated, this shoe offers the support and comfort of a trainer, while displaying a mature look to any outfit. Style your boat shoes with shorts and a T-shirt for a casual look or something more formal with chinos and an Oxford shirt.

Summer Shoes For Any Occasion
Whether you’re dressing for the party season, a weekend getaway or warmer days in the office, there should be room in your wardrobe for a great selection of summer footwear. To help you complete your summer wardrobe, we’ve rounded up the shoes you'll need for every summer occasion.
Loafers
The loafer is the ultimate staple shoe style for any gent as it blurs the line between formal and casual. With endless summer days ahead, the loafer is the perfect option for dressy occasions and days at work where you want something stylish but comfortable. For a colour that can be worn again and again, opt for a pair of brown loafers, which will work with practically any colour palette.
Espadrilles
The Espadrille, where comfort meets effortless style. Despite being preferred for casual occasions, these beauties are worth the investment. Rock them with shorts and jeans with a rusty navy pair or go earthy with muted khaki. The espadrille is the perfect companion to a great pair of jeans, a well-fitting pair of chinos and, more obviously, a pair of shorts. You can even cuff your trousers and wear them with ease when you’re on-the-go!
Leather Sneakers
Want something breathable, comfy, and stylish? The old school 90’s classics have sneaked back into street style and they’re certainly a winner for your casual weekend looks. Leather sneakers worn with tailored trousers, jeans, chinos and in some cases even casual suits. When it comes to sneakers, we recommend bold colours and thicker soles
Boat Shoes
Quintessentially preppy, the boat shoe is a classic that will bring a nautical feel to any of your summer looks. With a low, below-the-ankle profile, boat shoes lend themselves well to warmer weather. Chinos and boat shoes go hand-in-hand and will give you versatility for a variety of events. Shorts are another option with the right event and outfit. Opt for a good fit, and pair them with a tailored shirt for balance.
