So, I read something similar somewhere sometime on tumblr but Imma add on and ramble too because :D

Looking at Ace's character, he is someone who finds it important to have physical representations of the people who have had major impacts in his life. Proof, of the people he lives on because of and for. He has:

Sabo's flag tattooed on his arm

He take's his mother's last name

He has Whitebeard's mark tattooed on his back

And he has (whether he like's it or not) Roger's face

But he's never shown to have anything on him that represents Luffy. How could Ace, who adores Luffy above all else, not have anything to represent him?

It's because Luffy is in absolutely everything he does.

Whenever he fights, makes decisions, breathes, lives, he does so with Luffy in mind. He speaks of him to whoever and whenever, and he never seems to be happier, than when he mentions his little brother. The fact that Ace continues to exist, is proof enough of Luffy's impact.

Ace may fight and devote himself to all these people, but existing?That's reserved for Luffy, and Luffy alone.
