Fine I’ll say it if no one else will, X-Men Evolution has some of the most accurately written high-school characters ever

No phone addictions, no cringey slang, no self confidence, just terrible emotional regulation, unnecessary saltiness, random duos that were waaaayyyyy better friends than everyone else, the most awkward crushes you’ve ever seen, atrocious height differences, only having three outfits-

x-men "superpowers" have to have downsides, and yeah they do but I mean everyday downsides that aren't talked about

wolverine with chronic pain because his bones are literal metal

cyclops with sensitivity to blue light because he's so used to seeing red

jean and charles with chronic migraines

gambit with burns from accidents with his powers

im being so serious when i ask this, but, how has dick's characterization become so opposing to his actual character? like how in the world did this pervasive and frankly invasive depiction of him become so popular? where in the world did people get these scraps of personality that they've frankensteined together to create this fucking weirdo that shakes his ass for criminals and is the biggest attention seeker? for decades we have had pretty consistent source material that continually establishes that dick is quite serious and a leader, and also someone that cares deeply for people and has the skill set and willpower to do literally anything for them. how has this fanon characterization that's quickly becoming canon happen to him?

Rewatching X-Men Evolution is such a wild ride because it makes perfect sense as a kid but as an adult you are suddenly aware of how weird it is.

Like what do you mean that Charles Xavier out sources the School part of his "School for Gifted Youngsters". You promised Kitty and Evan's parents that they would be learning at a state of the art institute but in reality they are going to the local public highschool that one of our mortal enemies is the principal of for some reason. Also almost every single member of the mutant gang we are always fighting also goes to the same high school. It's fine though we only had one kid get zapped out of existence by the Brotherhood but it's okay because he came back in less than a day with a new guy. Like WHAT!?

Don't even get me started on the Brotherhood in general. They basically live in a crack house with little to no supervision. There is literally an entire episode about how they need to figure out how to get some money because they are out of food and the city turned off their water. No adult does anything about this.

I love the show with my whole heart and will die on the hill that it's one of the best animated X-Men shows but holy shit are the adults in this series failing to adult.

i do have to say that TMZ is a fucking plague and needs to be stomped out. the way they shared the news of michael jackson’s death before his family was notified, shared images of the kobe bryant helicopter crash before his wife had even found out it happened, and have now shared images of liam payne’s dead body for the world to see… just fucking slimy and utterly devoid of integrity

For some reason, it never occurred to me that Project Gutenberg would have public domain old cookbooks. This is BRILLIANT. There’s a 1953 cranberry recipe pamphlet and a suffrage cookbook from 1915 and a translation of Apicus’s guide to food in Imperial Rome and a whole bunch of other fascinating old cookbooks, many pre-1800. Treasure trove!

just stumbled across Francisco Soria Aedo's work and first off: really good painter, super talented. He mainly did portraits and neoclassical but I really like are his expressions, which do show up in his neoclassical work. lots of people smiling and having fun and it's just very cute
