Transport restraints and collar combination

Smith & Wesson model 1850 transport restraints were threaded though a belly chain securely padlocked in the back. The handcuffs were locked to a chain collar, and applied over gloves. The hands were closely locked to the neck. The oval shape of the S&W model 1 handcuffs prevents the prisoner from rotating his wrists inside the cuffs, and the gloves ensure that the cuffs can be well tightened. With the key holes pointing away from the fingers, it is impossible for the prisoner to tamper with locks or in any other way manipulate the restraints.

The distance from the neck to the feet is restricted by a 32” heavy duty chain connecting the handcuffs with the leg irons. When leg irons are applied, the restraints do not allow the prisoner to stand fully upright. He is limited to a seated og kneeling position.
