AnimalZone - A Walk On The Wild Side (Season 11, Episode 1) from AnimalZone on Vimeo.
This Saturday, February 3rd on Cox Television's national network at 8:30 AM, get ready to embark on a wild ride as AnimalZone kicks off its eleventh season with a visit to the SPCA Monterey County—a place where the hills are alive with the sound of chirping, neighing, and the occasional oink. This donor-supported haven for creatures great and small has been serving the Monterey community since the days when animals had to commute by horse and buggy.
Join our graceful guide, Beth Brookhauser, as she takes us on a tour of this hidden gem nestled between Salinas and Carmel. This place is a full-fledged animal utopia, boasting vet services, wildlife rescue and rehab, as well as dog and puppy training classes (because even Fido needs to learn some manners).
The compound is so picturesque that even the resident raccoons have their own Instagram account. From hawks to opossums, baby owls to frisky squirrels, it's a regular Noah's Ark up in there, minus the floods!
But wait, there's more. This sanctuary doesn't discriminate when it comes to four-legged friends. They've got horses, rabbits, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens—you name it. It's basically a barnyard animal version of "The Real Housepets of Monterey County."
So, buckle up for a heartwarming and delightful journey through a place where the critters roam free, the caregivers have hearts as big as elephant ears, and even the opossums know how to strike a pose for the camera. Get ready to laugh, cry, and possibly adopt a miniature donkey by the end of the episode.

AnimalZone - Season 10, Episode 13 from AnimalZone on Vimeo.
"AminalZone: Dazzled by The Dog Rose" is a touching episode that takes viewers on a heartfelt journey of compassion, transformation, and the extraordinary power of love. Noelle Fueter, a seasoned banker in Liechtenstein, embarks on a life-altering adventure when a chance encounter with a stray dog in the Bahamas ignites a newfound purpose within her.
Moved by an unwavering determination to make a difference in the lives of dogs, Noelle courageously leaves her established career behind and, with the support of her husband Tobias Fueter, embarks on a remarkable mission. Noelle launched 'City Dogs,' a venture initially focused on pet care but destined for so much more. Through unwavering dedication, Noelle finds her true calling - bringing dogs and people together in a profound and meaningful way.
Tobias, a successful film producer and director, plays an integral role in this transformative journey. While on location in Romania, he bears witness to the plight of countless stray dogs, and his heart aches for their suffering. Urgently, he shares these heartrending images with Noelle, setting in motion a chain of events that will forever change the lives of these abandoned creatures.
What unfolds is nothing short of extraordinary. Noelle, propelled by an unyielding sense of duty, rushes to Romania, determined to offer solace and aid to these deserving souls. In a beautifully poignant act of kindness, she uses the resources at her disposal to feed and care for the hungry strays, a gesture that quickly evolves into something much larger. With the help of compassionate veterinarians and dedicated volunteers, 'The Dog Rose' is born.
Located just north of Bucharest, 'The Dog Rose' emerges as a sanctuary, a haven of hope and healing for the dogs of Romania. Noelle, Tobias, and their cherished colleague Anja come together, pooling resources, time, and unwavering love to create a safe haven where these dogs can thrive. The shelter and play area stand as a testament to the boundless potential for positive change when driven by love and purpose.
The symbolism behind 'The Dog Rose,' the national flower of Romania, carries profound significance. While Noelle and Tobias may hail from Switzerland, their unwavering belief in the universality of compassion knows no bounds. "Love knows no borders," Noelle declares, a sentiment that echoes throughout this extraordinary episode.
In 'AminalZone: Dazzled by The Dog Rose,' viewers are invited to witness the transformative power of love, as dogs become the silent but potent teachers of an essential truth: that kindness, empathy, and unity can bridge any divide. This episode is a testament to the idea that, at its core, we are all leaders, capable of creating a better world for those who need it most.

2019 Monterey Motor Week from arthur von wiesenberger on Vimeo.
Monterey Motor Week is known for a number of things especially the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. But other events also make the week exceptional including the Tour d’elegance , a morning journey that went from Pebble Beach to Carmel-by-the-Sea and back. Along the way fans lined the streets as they witnesses and heard this rolling museum of spectacular machines.
Behind the scenes the cars are polished up after the cruise. A rare Chrysler Le Baron Thunderbolt, belonging to an owner from Denver Colorado is one of only five.
A Ford GT 40 is the only aluminum body made. It currently lives in Indiana.
There was a rare 1913 blue Bugatti
A 1935 Packard 1204 Super 8 Coupe Roadster had a 150 horsepower L-Head straight eight engine. This streamlined Packard was styled by Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky. This car is one of 11 known to survive - and one of three to have a rear mounted spare wheel.
Auctions are also a big part of Motor Week. Some of the most exciting and rarest cars were sold by Gooding & Company.
This 2005 Ferrari 575 Superamerica realized a price of $240,800
A 2018 Ferrari GTC4 Lusso 70th anniversary edition flew out the door at $417,800 … not a bad price for a stylish station wagon
This fun loving 1961 Fiat 600 Jolly with wicker seats and a canopy fringe sold for $156,800
For those in need of speed, Niki Lauda’s 1975 Ferrari 312T, the one he drove and ultimately won the 1975 Formula One Drivers Championship passed the finish line at the auction for $6 million.
A couple of Highway Patrol officers were looking at the 2015 Aston Martin Vulcan and when we asked if they could catch it they said, no way. “I’d just turn off my lights and turn around to go home”. This one didn’t sell at its $2million estimate so it turned around and went home too.
A 2007 Ferrari F430 Challenge race car sold for a bargain price of $72,800
But foreign exotics weren’t the only stars at Gooding. This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z06 Big Tank Split Window Coupe came with the factory “Special Performance Equipment” which performed well and sold for $588,000.
But the 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO didn't reach its $600,000 estimate.
This Porsche came with its original window sticker, a car sold by a dealership in Goleta, California called Trans World Auto. It was a good investment for someone.
Lamborghini’s first production model, the elegant 1965 350 GT, got an elegant price of $610,000.
But this 1997 Ferrari F50 didn’t reach its reserve and estimate of $2,800,000. Nor did this racing 1989 Jaguar XJR-10 at $1,500,000.
But this unusual strawberry metallic 1955 Mercedes- Benz 300 SL Gullwing did catch the eye of a buyer at $1,435,000 - -unrestored but a fine example of the original 64 year old car.
Other vintage and prewar cars, some that are boat tail roadsters, were stunning to look at even if they were mechanically challenging.
The 1986 Citroen Deux Chevaux Dolly sold for $28,000. Sacre Bleu, this was a real deal for this French cultural icon.
For a little fun, and little being the operative word, this 1959 BMW Isetta 300 sold beyond its estimate at $41,440.
For the buyer who wanted a Ferrari at a bargain this 1967 Ferrari 330 P2 sold for only $35,840.. But it was a 5/8 scale Ferrari designed for children.
A stunning 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet, originally belonging to Prince Alessandro Ruspoli in Rome, it was at the time the most expensive 250 GT and one of the most successful collaborations between Pinin Farina and Ferrari. It’s hammer price was $6,800,000.
Other classic post war cars were statements of their era. A particularly eye catching example was a 1948 Delahaye 135MS Cabriolet. It was one of 3 by Faget Varnet and was the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Class Winner in 2008. It sold for $550,000.
Steve McQueen, an avid motorcycle and financier of the motorcycle classic movie, On Any Sunday, had this 1936 Indian Chief. Unrestored it was sold in the 1984 McQueen Estate Auction in Las Vegas. Asking $240,000 it is still available and open to offers.
A 2019 McLaren Senna, derived from McLaren’s 720S, has remarkable aerodynamics, a duel clutch, seven speed gearbox and a 4.0 liter twin turbocharged engine that produces 789 horsepower. Available at $1,500,000.
The 1953 Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 CM Superflow was one of the most advanced sports cars of the early 1950s. Only 8 were built making this a very rare car and available at $5.5 million.
The 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France Berlinetta, one of 36, sold for $5,100,00.
The Gooding auction made a number of records thanks in part to the charming auctioneering talents of Charlie Ross who has also been an antique expert on numerous BBC programs. One of the records set was for the unique Czechoslovakian 1938 Tatra T77A Limousine which sold for $412,000, a pinnacle of prewar design. The Gooding auction realized more than $76 million sold and 17 of the cars sold over the $1 mark.

Villars sur Ollen, Switzerland from arthur von wiesenberger on Vimeo.
Villars sur Ollen, situated at 1300 meters, is an historic alpine village located in the French speaking canton of Vaud in Switzerland. In 1913 the Villars Palace looked majestically over the village and was the center of winter and summer sports. Today, like much of the village, the Palace is undergoing a total renovation. The region is served by the Bex- Villars-Bretaye metre gauge railway. In the winter it brings skiers to the Chamossaire and chaud ronde ski lifts and in the summer it takes hikers to the gateway of les alpes vaudoise. Just driving up the mountain from Ollon to Villars is awe-inspiring.
From 1953 to 1971 the Ollon to Villars hill climb with its every conceivable hairpin turn captured the attention of car racing enthusiasts throughout Europe. Today access around the mountain is very easy.
At the Crazy Moose, a restaurant located at 1700 meters and accessible by the mountain train or by skis in the winter, there are spectacular views of the mountains which compliment the delicious cuisine of the Quebec inspired chef.
Dining around the mountain has some brilliant dishes like risotto with porchini mushrooms, spinach tarte with mashed potatoes and Switzerland never disappoints the sweet tooth with specialities like meringue with Gruyere double cream and raspberry sauce served at the restaurant of the Golf Club Villars.
Golf in Villars began in 1922 and the 18-hole, par 70 course at 1660 meters with views towards the Mt. Blanc is beautiful and challenging. Even in the summer one can occasionally find snow drifts in the area.
Hiking in Villars is spectacular and there is every possibility from beginners and families to experienced hikers. And for the avid adventurer there are other ways to get down the mountain besides by foot. Soaring over the pine trees and trails gives one a sense of why the opportunities for inspiration in the Swiss alps are limitless.
One of the best hotels in town in the Alpe Flurie. Its a three star but feels like a four star hotel with an excellent restaurant, cozy rooms and five star views of the ever changing and fascinating Dents du Midi.
In nearby Solalex is a valley surrounded by spectacular mountains - straight out of the book Heidi. Here contented cows graze along the green pastures. And occasionally one might even share with visitors how moo-velous the valley is. Hikes around the valley can reveal towering trees, dramatic rocks and refreshing waterfalls and rivers. Easy to explore on foot, by bike and reachable even by car.
One of the premier international boarding schools, Aiglon College, is located in nearby Chesiers. Aiglon’s campus is a virtual village with dozens of buildings providing housing, extensive academic facilities and unlimited sports. The essence of Switzerland’s international community is evident with Aiglon’s global student body. Villars captures the magic of Switzerland in every season.

Geneva In Heat from arthur von wiesenberger on Vimeo.
In June 2019, Europe had a heatwave that shattered records. Parts of Switzerland recorded the hottest days ever. Geneva reached 36 degrees Centigrade or 97 degrees Fahrenheit. One of the coolest places to be, hot or cold, is around Lake Leman. With the iconic Jet d’eau and clean water its an ideal place to take a dip or hang out with friends along the quai and take a sip or two. The parks along the lake are perfect for picnics or practicing one’s balance maybe for a future Cirque du Soleil appearance. Other local creatures kept their cool in the heat including deer, flamingos and black swans. Even two strolling peacocks got out of the swelter for some cooler shelter.
A great place to chill out is the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues. The historic neoclassical hotel is the oldest in Geneva and first opened in 1834. With 115 rooms and suites, it is in the heart of the lakefront just steps from the Pont du Mont Blanc. Rooms are luxerious and comfortable with air conditioning, quiet calm and personal service. Breakfast is a celebration for the tastebuds. Specialities like viande seche, sliced smoked salmon, local yogurts, gruyere, raclette and parmesan cheeses, cereals, bircher musili, fresh fruits, healthy smoothies, mozzarella and tomatoes, bufula ricotta, olive breadsticks, pear tarts, and other ways to savor Swiss breads like pain complet, breads and croissants. All to be enjoyed in the elegance of the hotel’s beautiful dining room and bar. An iced cappuccino never was more refreshing and eggs Benedict with salmon, more elegant. Breakfast at the Bergues is bountiful. For a little cool execise the hotel has a top floor pool, and for spectacular views and top-knotch sushi, the Japanese restaurant Izumi, is the hot ticket.
As the sun slowly sets over the lake and the evening lights come alive. the Ferris Wheel (or grande roue) in The English garden is a big part of the Fete de Geneve in the summer. Although late June of 2019’s heatwave kept most people away from traditional Swiss dishes like fondue and raclette (in this heat?) it didn’t stop everyone. At the Auberge de Sevise, an intimate spot near the Hotel de Bergues are dishes like Malakoff, a ball of fried cheese, invented by Swiss mercenaries during the battle of Sevastopol. Raclette cheese with boiled potatoes, and to cool down, chocolate gelato and sorbets. Then a delicious Swiss speciality, meringues with Gruyere double cream. So good the next day at the Coop market, there was more to stocked up on. And speaking of delicious, at Globus on Rue du Rhone, every gastronmic treat can be found in the food section, from fresh and canned truffles, to homemade pastas, to even premium tequilas… ole! You can even sit down and have breakfast or a snack of the supermarket’s specialities.
The towering mountains around Geneva like the Mt. Blanc still have snow in mid-summer, although the heatwave has increased the water flow into the rivers and lakes. At Geneva’s Botanical garden where the tranquility of nature can be found right in the center of town, The conservatory and gardens are is rich with exotic and tropical plants over 16,000 different species. There is also the Carrousel of Fairy Tales, fascinating wood sculptures and tree history as well as local animals. Swan’s show their wisdom with the summertime heat by staying close to Geneva’s lake. And by being with those that they love.

A Five Star Visit - Washington DC from arthur von wiesenberger on Vimeo.
Washington DC is one of the world’s most stunning cities. Pierre Charles L’Enfant designed the layout for this Capital city in the late 1700s. Over the centuries, spectacular neoclassical buildings and monuments have given a grace and head-turning collage of structures that are emblematic of American greatness.
The National Gallery of Art contains some of the most impressive works, many donated from the Mellon family and friends. In the adjacent Sculpture garden are eye catching creations such as the Roy Lichenstein optical illusion, entitled House 1.
When it comes to houses, there is nothing more dramatic than The White House which has been the official residence of Presidents since John Adams in 1800. The West Wing of the White House houses the President’s offices including the Oval Office, the Dining Room, and the James S Brady Press Briefing Room. Young America’s Foundation hosted a meeting in Washington on a mission to inspire young people with the miracle of freedom.
Preeminent speakers discussed important conservative issues. Included were Mercedes Schlapp, The Honorable Rand Paul, and Conservative television and radio star, Mark Levin. Others in the meeting included Speaker Newt Gingrich and a visit to One Observatory Circle, home to Vice President Pence and his family.
Washington DC was built by visionaries. It turned swampland into of of the most dynamic cities in America. Benjamin Franklin was appointed Postmaster General in 1776 and his stature graces the historic Post Office building on Pennsylvania Avenue which was built in 1892. With a 315 foot clock tower, it is one of the tallest buildings in Washington. In 2016 the property which had been under renovation for three years opened as a luxury hotel, the Trump International Hotel Washington DC. In 2018 the hotel was awarded the prestigious Forbes 5- Star rating, the first and only hotel awarded it in downtown Washington.
The extensive list of standards by Forbes encompasses all aspects of a hotel experience including food such as that served at BLT Prime as well as the lobby Benjamin Bar & Lounge where the menu provides an exceptional and interesting variety. On each evening a different culinary feature is available such as Friday nights when a cornucopia of desserts are presented.
The rooms are extremely fresh with a comfortable, soundproofed atmosphere. The bed is comfortable, clean and in excellent condition with linens and pillows of exceptional quality and style. There is great attention to the interior design which is clearly is evident. All these are part of what makes a Forbes Five Star Rating, and this hotel visit particularly memorable.
