Goodbye Europe
Raafe and I woke up around 6 today and I had no problem waking up because I was immediately excited for the last flight in my journey back home. Made sure all of my luggage was ready to go and my carryons weren’t too heavy to log around. So much of what I was bringing back was accumiliated through visiting exhibits, particularly the Biennale. Getting back to my apartment will be fun to unpack and reminanse all the different events and locations. At the airport it was great to see everyone from school and hear a little bit about their trips. Everyone seemed to have gone to many different places and do so many different things. And for now we will be up up and away!
On take off I found myself glued to the window. The Swiss Alps are really something spectacular to see and we were blessed with a beautiful day to take off on. It somewhat reminded me of my flight that I usually take to get back home to Washington over the Rocky and Cascade Mountains. One of my first thoughts was I will be back here and hopefully sooner rather than later. This world has so much to offer and now that I’ve had a taste of it I want to see it all. Going on this trip or ‘studio’ if you want to call it was most definitely the right choice. Although I sacrificed my summer back home in Washington I’ve had 21 years of that. I will say that most of my excitement to head back now is mainly geared towards seeing people. I am so excited to see Melissa and Dave at the airport but also so thrilled to share what I have been doing for the last 48 days (yes I counted). To sit here and write about it all will never be enough to explain everything but it is definitely a start. During the hard semester ahead I will be able to take a look at this blog and smile at all the memories from Europe. This is definitely not the end but just the beginning. And with that I say so long Europe I will be seeing you someday soon.

Looking Back at Italy
As I am literally on the train headed towards the Pisa Airport I would like to take a minute to look back on all that has happened so far. This trip has definitely been one of the best experiences ever and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to venture out on it. There have been so many things that have happened I have learned that sometimes it’s hard to put it into words. I do know one thing; anyone who has the opportunity to study abroad should definitely take advantage of that. I doubt I will have another chance to venture around Europe for 2 months, especially as a young adult. I am striving to take advantage of the limited time available. Not to get all cliché but who really knows how much time we have left in life. As I pull away from the train station all I can think of is how much I am truly going to miss Siena and on the great whole, Italy. I have truly come to adore this country and those residing within it. All seem to have an understood compassion for the priorities of life: love, food and fulfillment. I hope to carry certain ideals learned from here further on in life. From this trip I know that I will be back since I have been bitten with the ‘travel bug’ as Alec named it. I also hope to come back at some point to see the Palio and experiences it’s one of a kind nature. I will still bet on Aquila as that I now consider to be my favorite. Next summer I will be sure to tune in to see who wins ‘Il Palio’ as I myself have become a part of it. On a greater whole each place I was able to visit had its own special charm of all the places, Milan still holds my heart. The people of that town really took us under their wings and gave us such an amazing vision of what Italy is about. More specifically the theories of design are ones I hope to myself adopt as I move into the real world. There is also something to be said about all the people that were by my side throughout this journey. I don’t think I could have asked for a better group of people to come on this trip with. Each and every one gave their own unique addition to the amazing adventure that they call the ‘Siena Summer Studio’ It is not only to be said that Italy has its mark on us but we definitely made some noise over here both literally and figuratively. I am excited to walk through the halls of the architecture building and see the familiar faces in an almost unfamiliar place. Although in reality I don’t want to go back, there are people who I really miss. It’s not really about the place but more so the people because place-wise I could definitely stay here. Unfortunately I can’t have my way and must move on and I choose to move on to… BERLIN.
