                  having... acquaintances within SHIELD, not including the avengers, was admittedly nice. less... world-ending events were on the daily task list, and it was a far cry from being a GOD or a guy who got exponentially scarier when he was angry. the agents he’d spoken to were people he could find similarities with, though not quite shared life experience. he’d taken a certain shining to a few, against all odds.   “   i guess i should file a direct complaint with fury. or call a health inspector.   ”   lighthearted for the sake of normalcy, and a slight smile pulls at his lips.   “   know any greasy diners around here?   ”   it’s an unspoken invitation for the agent to join him. a good deal of his meals were spent alone — some company would be nice.

Carol’s  decision  to  get  a  home  stood  a  small  reluctance  before,  though  once  she’d  actually  went  through  with  the  purchase,  she  hadn’t  been  happier.  She  could  come  and  go  as  she  pleased,  not  having  to  worry  about  anyone  or  anything  while  she  was  gone.  It  was  on  a  large  piece  of  land  purchased  with  what  was  left  to  her  from  her  inheritance  from  her  father.  (  At  least  he  did  some  good  at  one  point  in  her  life  )  It’d  only  been  a  short  while  she’d  lived  there,  but  it’d  certainly  been  BLISS.  She  could  hear  the  roaring  of  an  engine  up  her  road,  causing  her  to  venture  from  her  garage.

Brow  cocked  as  she  made  out  who  the  unexpected  company  was,  though  all  she  did  was  crossed  her  arms  and  played  a  somewhat  bemused  smirk.

                 home, nowadays, was the facility for steve. it wasn’t exactly what one might call cozy or... homey in any sense of the word, but it was a sense of security and belonging. a place for him to keep catching up with the changing times without being overwhelmed with the movement of the city. plus, there was plenty of open space that kept him from feeling like he was trapped in those towering skyscrapers. new york looked more like a maze than a city these days. though, that didn’t quite stop that yearning to find a nice place in brooklyn — if it wasn’t so goddamn expensive.

                he uses his heel to put down the kickstand, approaching the porch with a little smile and ignoring the sun currently doing its very best to blind him.   “   well, it’s certainly been a little too quiet these days. they don’t know what to do with themselves with all this free time... and i figured i could come see you in person. y’know, captain-to-captain.   ”   expression lifts more with amusement, and hands go to his pockets.                  “   how’re you doing?   ”   it implies a lot more than the casual phrase might have suggested. he knows there’s a whole galaxy out there that depends on danvers, whereas his feet are more grounded to earth — he couldn’t say he even enjoyed time travel all that much.
