Today in "what the heck have I been doing if not writing?":
Discovering just how similar Alto's character arc is to Hamlet's, and still struggling to write a bridge between one death and the next.
But I do keep thinking about OC, so there's clearly some ideas knocking around up here.

Hypothetically, if the end game of Onerous was all angst, would you like breaks between the hard hits or do you just want them all at once?

Me talking about Onerous to anyone: I've got this whole thing planned out, and only two characters survive the story!
Anyone else: Are you alright? Why are you so happy about killing off your characters?

Writing Check-In - Feb 2024
I understand it's been a while since I last posted here, and I want to start off by apologising for that. I'm not even sure anyone follows this blog anymore.
I want to spend more time talking about my original writings here this year. I want to use this place to scream ideas and give non-spoilery updates on my feelings around certain things I've written.
I think the problem's been that I'm treating this blog as a "professional" writing blog, and it's not that. I'm going to treat it as just my original writing sideblog, where I can separate my fanfiction from my original stuff that I set aside for publication.
So, here's a new goal for this blog: let's dust off the cobwebs and give it a makeover. Let's change our pfp, change the name, and dedicate it to original things, Onerous Cimmerian, Surviving Sin, Paint It Again, and Oblivion.
Here we go, welcome to 'Booky-Originals', the blog for the writing that isn't fanbase-related.

Onerous Cimmerian Sneak Peek
Been writing more Onerous over these last couple weeks, and I just wrote this passage that kind of broke my heart.
No context.
--
“Henrik’s back.”
Malvern looked up from his book at Chase’s statement, seeing the doctor wiping his hands on a cloth as he stood at the entrance to the sitting room. He placed his thumb in his book, keeping his place as he focused his attention on his cousin.
“Jux told me,” He began, voice soft. “Is he alright?” Malvern blanched when he registered the grim look on Chase’s face, shuffling over as the doctor sat heavily on the seat beside him. Chase sighed, staring at the ground with troubled eyes.
“He’s not himself, Mal,” he stated softly, voice breaking, “I don’t know what happened in there, but it’s not Henrik sitting in my clinic. His whole personality’s just… gone,” he opened shaking hands, palms facing the ceiling as tears splashed onto his knees. Malvern listened, unsure how to respond.
“Do you… want me to talk to Jux?” the hero offered, pinching the skin between his middle and ring fingers. “I could ask if he knows something.” He chewed the inside of his lip as he watched Chase stare helplessly at the ground, breathing shaky as tears fell silently down his cheeks.
“Henrik’s gone, Mal,” Chase whispered, turning wide, watery eyes to his cousin, “There’s nothing left but an empty shell. I can’t… there’s nothing I can do to save him. I was so sure I could protect everyone, but we’ve just lost Henrik. It’s a lost cause…” Chase’s head fell into his hands, crying into his palms as his guilt washed over him.             Malvern sat for a while watching Chase, then sighed and stood up, heading for the staircase and Juxta’s room.

I feel like A Spell for an Eye was like one of those short films that people make in primary school that are forgotten when the person gets older
And Onerous Cimmerian feels like one of those A-list celebrity Hollywood production feature films, recorded in state-of-the-art quality with awesome effects
Basically what I’m saying is that Onerous feels so much better than ASfaE ever did

Snippet from Onerous
“She’s psychotic, Malvern.”
“She’s Death.”
I just wanna smile and share this little extremely out of context conversation from Onerous.
If me from 2017 ever saw this, she wouldn't even believe I wrote that.
This is what taking inspiration from what you read as well as analysing literature will teach you.
Also helped me to come up with snarky conversations like this one.
Onerous is being revived this week, as well as starting my new uni year.

WIP Progress Report - February 2023
I know, it’s been a while. Stuff has been happening.
What’s the progress of Onerous Cimmerian?
It’s coming along. I have some end scenes written out, but the getting there is the big problem. Trying to move the story from the middle toward the ending is tricky. I did write some while I was in Singapore back in October, but not an awful lot.
How much have you written?
Well, I have completed a couple chapters, but not a substantial amount. Juggling all my hobbies and uni kind of makes it difficult to work on this story. However, I did progress Chase and Stacy’s story a little bit, which was good. I also progressed some motives.
Can we get a snippet of the WIP?
Not right now; I haven’t really touched it since October, and I don’t have it on me at the moment. Maybe next month.
Not the progress report you were hoping for, I bet, but it’s the best I can do for now. My life has been kicking the hell outta me, but I want to get back to writing this so it can be published ASAP.
I’ll also try to get these out more often. Really, I will. It will motivate me to work on Onerous more if I have to make a report on it each month.
See you next month!!

We’re past 53K words in my WIP.
Onerous Cimmerian will be finished this year
If not because it’s been dragging on for 4 years, because of determination to get the story out there.

Onerous Cimmerian - Out of Context Passage
Been planning out some passages for when I get back on my laptop. Thought I’d share this one, a conversation between Chase and Stacy.
——
“Why did you leave?” Chase asked, leaning forward onto the table. Stacy just stared at him.
“I needed somewhere away from you so I could figure stuff out.”
“You didn’t tell me. I got a call from the bank about the rent.” Stacy scoffed, taking a sip of coffee.
“So?”
“I haven’t lived in that house for two years, Stacy. Why would I be the one to pay the bills?”
“Because if you want to see the kids again, you have to prove you’ll be a better father to them.”
“Stacy, that’s not fair.”
“What isn’t fair is you forfeiting your career over drinks and trips across Europe.” Chase winced, gritting his teeth as he prepared his reply.
“I came here to look for you. To ask you to let me see my children.”
“You shouldn’t have come here. You haven’t proven anything.”
“I stopped! Mostly,” he protested, glancing away in guilt.
“That’s my point. Until you can completely stop, I can’t trust anything you say.”
“I have cut back. I don’t carry a flask with me everywhere. I have a glass before bed.”
“And the clinic?” The doctor paused.
“I get there on time.”
“I’ll consider letting you see the children. But you can’t stay at home.”
“I’m living with Jared. And our cousins.” Stacy sighed, considering Chase’s extended family.
“The quiet one and the hero?” Chase frowned. Stacy never seemed to like Juxta and Malvern.
“Juxta and Malvern. They’re… alright.” She began to pack up, standing and placing some bills on the table.
“I’ll consider it. That’s the best I can give.”
“Alright. Alright, that’s a start.”
“I’ll call you.”
“I’ll wait.” Stacy pursed her lips, turning to leave, before stopping and turning back to Chase.
She opened her mouth to speak, then closed it and headed away. Chase sat at the table, a small smile on his lips as he reached into his pocket to find his phone.

I wrote about 100 words to Onerous today.
It’s still habit to use Onerous as my punching bag, but I’m really happy to be back in the world with my boys again.
I can’t wait to have the first draft manuscript written so I can look to getting it published.

WIP Progress Report - August 2021
Another month has passed.
How has the writing been?
I’ve been doing some writing, but mostly working on uni stuff. However, I have gotten a new spark of inspiration for Onerous, so I hope to write more on it soon.
Any news for it?
Well, I’ve compiled a list on my reminders app (the app I use to note down ideas for writing) of plot points to move along.
It’s got three points, and I look forward to working on them!
How much have you written of Onerous?
Well, when I put all the parts together (That’s adding the backstories to the main story), it’s on 108 pages, and we aren’t quite halfway yet! I might switch POVs from this point, because the current scene has gone on for a bit.
Can we get a sneak peek?
I can give you a small screenshot I guess. This is the last scene I wrote, where Chase and Jared are in Italy to search for Chase’s family. It’s the night after the first day Chase spent searching, and he’s already concerned about losing them.
Tumblr media
Anything else?
I finished crocheting mini jse egos. I have a couple plans for some more crochet pieces, such as keychains of the egos (because my original designs are a little odd and I’d like to sell them someday).
I’m also working on some sewing projects, one of which is on hold while I wait to get more fabric.
I am recovering from a recent eye infection (not the eye itself, but the area around it), and my first dose of vaccine, but I should be regaining some energy to do stuff. Nausea is still there, but we’re crossing things off the list.
See you next month!

WIP Progress Report - July 2021
It’s a new month of writing… or not progress…
How’s the writing been?
I… haven’t written for the Seven Deadly Sins story (Surviving Sin) this month. I’ve been working on other stuff.
Other stuff? Like what?
Well, I printed out Oblivion so I have a hard copy of it to refer back to while writing… but I haven’t written for it since.
I finished the Visitation Day series (which I titled Adventure and published the last chapter for earlier this week).
I wrote a non-canon chapter for Onerous Cimmerian because it regained popularity this month. I haven’t gone back to it yet because I’m still preparing stuff for it.
I started a Robbie the Zombie series… then started a second Robbie the Zombie series that recounts all his adventures with JJ. I’ll get back to the Robbie series some day.
I started a backstory series for the Jacksepticeye egos. I need to continue that because I think there are people waiting for it, but I can’t quite find the plot for Jackie’s backstory.
Do you want to share anything about these pieces?
Onerous Cimmerian has like, 80 pages so far (62 pages of main story, 12 for Reset in a separate document and about 10 for the Backstory Saga).
Here’s an excerpt from the Robbie and JJ series:

What happened to Surviving Sin?
I’ll continue it, I promise. I’ve hit a wall and need time to figure out where it goes.
I haven’t abandoned it, and I still really want it to be my next (if not my third) published novel. Some authors take years to write their books, and Surviving Sin is a complex story.
For now, Onerous or Oblivion will be the priority (I think Onerous has more pages than Surviving Sin).
Anything else?
I took a break between crocheting my Surviving Sin characters (because George is really tricky and I feel scared about making him), and have started working on remaking the jacksepticeye egos. I just finished Chase today, and will probably start on Jackieboy Man tonight (because while Anti is literally the easiest, I don’t have the right colour wool for his skin).
Also, health update: still feeling the nausea. Did some research and thinking it might be chronic fatigue. We tested a gluten-free week, and I still felt nauseous, and this week (being the last week before seeing the doctor) I can’t take any nausea medicine, so quite unwell. Life is great.
That’s it. See you next month.
