Friendship can be just as intense as romance. Romance can be just as intense as friendship. There is no one over the other. There is human connection, there is the strength of the bond that varies based on the specific circumstances surrounding each relationship. There is love - it may be platonic or romantic or anything in between. There is love, and it simply presents different forms.
Love doesn’t come with a hierarchy.

little kids are so fucking funny man. had a kid that couldn’t be any older than like 8 or so come up to me today asking where our dinosaur books where, and when i tried to gently redirect them downstairs (where our kids section is) they very matter-of-fairly informed me that they’d already read every book down there and are ready to learn about the “secret, grown-up only dinosaurs” now

there is, in fact, a "platonic explanation for this" if you're not a coward

I'm definitely going to be more active on here. I used to get a lot of my world news on Tumblr and then tiktok, so with that going away- I am definitely going to be here more often.
Also haven't really shared much of myself in the past few years so, this is what 31 looks like on me 🖤 cheers to being a trans (nonbinary) elder

I get the cantina chicken burrito from Taco Bell for the chicken and veggies. Then I douse it in fire sauce for flavor. The baja blast is for my will to live.

Feeling this hard today, so re-sharing
People spend so much time hoping people would stay in their lives.
I spend so much of my time hoping I will. I'm scared more often than not that I'm not going to make it.
Life was easier to tolerate when I didnt want it so badly
Ever since I started to live and not just survive, it feels harder.
I have so much to lose now.
That's the danger of learning to love yourself.
On the days you want to die, the person disappearing starts to feel like a loss.

i know someone who works in conservation, who on the side has a large outdoor aviary and roughly 20 rainbow lorikeets they’ve taken in as they’ve been dumped/unwanted gifts or long-term pets/pets that have been released/etc, and she’s very knowledgeable and keeps them in great condition
i love seeing them though because we have a terrible and hilarious game. in the aviary i will be leaving out fruit skewers and things for them, and then i’ll dramatically lie on my side and pretend i died. it takes about 5 minutes, and then there’s an entire flock of lorikeets climbing on me, squeaking, nibbling and investigating.
the next part of the game is popping up my head and going “boo!” which is where the real fun begins, because the little rainbow nightmares jump, and then get delighted and start happy squealing and bouncing around (and chewing because they truly never stop)
while we all love this game, ive been cheerfully informed from the outside it looks even funnier, because it looks like I’ve been jumped by a group of lorikeets and they won

So much of what society treats as a joke is just mocking disability. Their idea of lazy is a disabled person trying to survive, whether that be living with their parents as an adult or using pre prepared food. Cringe culture is based entirely around mocking neurodivergent people and their interests. Symptoms and characteristics of disability such as urgency issues, drooling, tremors, tics, strabismus and speech impediments are used as cheap punchlines.
In children’s tv shows disabled characters such as those with speech impediments are treated as a joke, with symptoms of disability being portrayed as synonymous to stupid.
This idea is being taught from a young age in the media and it’s engrained into our language and culture. This goes beyond jokes, it contributes to the alienation of people with disabilities.
Once you start noticing these things you realise how constant and normalised it is.
Reducing an entire person to a punchline is wrong. Using a disability symptom as an insult is wrong. It’s disturbing how normalised it is to not treat people with basic decency and respect.

Remember in 1993 when Jurassic Park was like…the end all, be all of special effects?
