CHAPTER NINE TEASER!

Andrew didn’t do so much as blink at the coach but it was impossible to miss the hush that fell over the room. Of course Abram had to call when he was with the the noseist exy team in the entire sport’s existence. Andrew felt trapped, squished between the prying eyes of his brother and captain and coach and all the other Foxes and the person waiting for him to pick up the call. Andrew sighed, as if it was taxing to even press a couple buttons on his phone, and pressed the box to his ear. Andrew didn’t say anything for a long minute, but the person on the other end of the call was as impatient as always. 

“I hate it when you answer like this, you know. It’s weird and uncomfortable and I like to be told hello every now and then.” 

Abram’s voice was a balm; calming and husky and accented in the most perfect way. If he was somewhere private, Andrew would’ve closed his eyes to savor it. As it was, he could only inhale a shaky breath, hope that no one noticed that his fist was clenched tightly on his thigh, and stare a hole into the ground below him. God, he was pathetic.

“I’m busy.” Andrew said. Abram would know what he meant, that he wasn’t alone and that this conversation was to be had when their truth game could be played without anyone eavesdropping.

“So make yourself unbusy,” Abram said. Andrew scoffed but the striker plowed on before he could cuss him out. “I’ve been trying to call you for three days and this is the first free moment I’ve had. I want to waste it on you, so go somewhere we can talk.”
