He didn’t expect his apology to change a thing between them…
I’m just-what, exactly, did Katsuki have on his mind when he said this? Because as far as literally everyone is concerned, at this point their relationship is actually the best it had been up to that point.
They played catch-a-kacchan together. Trained together.
They’re friends. Proper rivals. They already have mutual respect.
They already knew more about eachother then anyone else.
Katsuki had ALREADY almost died for him at this point.
Izuku had already long-forgiven him at this point.
Of course, he didn’t EXPECT his apology to change anything between them…but what might he have expected to change between them, if he, maybe, possibly, was expecting it to?
What..could be better than genuine friendship, training together, being fucking willing to die for eachother? What might an apology improve upon in a dynamic such as this?
He didn’t expect it, but..WHAT, didn’t he expect, exactly?
