Elena geared herself up to be yelled at, but when the girl turned around and wasn’t angry, but asked about her cat, she was relieved. Shadow seemed to know it was safe as well, for he batted at her shoelaces once more.
“Hey, rude,” she scolded and glared at her cat and tugged on the harness just enough to redirect him to some fallen leaves on the sidewalk.
Cute. But fuckin’ rude.
“This is Shadow, my friend Adam came up with it. All I could think of were Spanish puns.” Elena knelt down to pet the black cat, eliciting a little meow from him before he got to purring and rubbing against Elena’s leg. “He was a shelter cat I took home when I was feeling lonely. His claws are deadly; damn near’s pierced my nipple for free.“
Tumblr media
Mary knows the difficulties of being a cat owner or a cat mom as her little cousin likes to call her. She had a chunky cat named Kitty at home who could be so rude.
He loved to ignore her, meow in her ear to wake her up at like four in the morning or just sit on top of her chest whenever he felt like.
“Shadow, very mysterious” she smiled watching the cat play by itself. Cats were so easily enthused at times. And sometimes they were surprisingly dependent, some cats liked attention more than people thought. “Ugh, that sucks. My cat was pretty much climbing the walls when I first found him. He literally tore my curtains.”

Elena couldn’t decide who was happier about leaving Town Hall. Her, or Shadow. The poor kitty was far too excited to be for a walk in his harness again. He stopped to bat at dead, crumpled flowers, pinecones, and Elena instinctively pulled him away for fear of lingering repercussions of toying with the wildlife.
“Shadow, basta ya,” Elena sighed as he went for his thousandth pinecone. Ay, the walk back to Goliath’s house from the apartment was going to kill her. Why did she think taking Shadow along to gather up things was a good idea?
In true cat fashion, Shadow stopped. Looked at Elena. And bat at the pinecone twice rapidly before ignoring it again. Cute, but what a dick.
Her grip on his leash tightened as she navigated them through the broken sidewalks of Swynlake, looking not twice but eight times before crossing streets, and frowning at the apocalyptic level of destruction. It looked like a slightly less depressing version of the images she’d seen of the worst bits of current Avalor. At least in Swynlake, nobody died in real life for this devastation.
Only in the dream. Naomi wasn’t really dead. Mateo was never really in danger. But Gabe? Gabe was still very much in a coma. Nothing would change that sad reality.
It was while she was thinking about Gabe, that Elena was distracted from paying attention to Shadow. She didn’t notice until she felt a tug on the leash that Shadow had – oh, dear! He’d run up to the shoe of someone with a dangling shoelace and began to bite at it.
“Shadow!” Elena scolded, almost tripping over her own weight, as she forgot she had a backup full of stuff helping weigh her down. “Whoa-” she steadied herself and kept scolding her cat. “I took you along for a walk, not to bother people!  Lo siento, I’m so sorry about my cat, he’s not gotten to stretch his legs in a while. The little asshole’s pushing boundaies.”
Tumblr media
Mary was still very confused after the whole dream thing. Thankfully she hadn’t been one of the tributes in that weird dream dimension but it had still been scary. People had died but not really. People had murdered and it made her think twice about who she interacted with. She knew it was a dream, but if you could murder someone in a dream whos to say you wouldn’t in real life. She was just glad it was over and the forest wasn’t acting weirder than normal anymore.
She was also glad to be back in her own place and so was Kitty. He had hated being caged up. She would have taken him on a walk too if it wasn’t for the fact he hates wearing a harness or being put on a leash. He seemed pretty happy to just be able to roam around their home at the moment, but she wasn’t. She had felt cooped up for too long too and a walk with fresh air seemed nice.
She hadn’t expected to have her shoelaces attacked though. A pretty cat was the culprit so she would let it slide. “It’s alright. I’m used to having my shoelaces attacked. I have a cat at home who has done worse. Whats his name?”

Why hadn’t she been able to tell she was alone? Shit.
Taking a deep breath, she attempted to desperately rid her eyes of the tears and find some composure. “They whisper…” she said trying to control herself, attempting not to show how much the dark secrets bothered her. She heard enough from people, she didn’t need to hear about random things too. “I just can’t handle any more of these secrets.” she frowned, stepping away from them. Their relentless speaking still screaming into her mind.
“I am okay though, just fed up.” a shrug fell from her shoulders. “Sorry you had to see that.” she added quickly, playing with her lip in between her teeth. The nervousness must have been dripping off her features.
Fortunately with the flowers messing with her head, it didn’t take too much to block out whatever secret this stranger had. Mellie didn’t know if she could handle any more at this time. “I’m Mellie. What’s your name?”
Tumblr media
Mary nodded in understanding. The pesky little flowers could be upsetting, especially with the things they whispered. How someone in town had murdered or how it was revealing family secrets of people Mary didn’t even know. She now knew more about people she had never even met than she wanted to. It was a bit overwhelming.
“It’s alright, it happens to the best of us. You can’t always control your emotions.” Which was true for most people but Mary was quite good at keeping everything under wraps. She excelled at it.
“I’m Mary. Nice to meet you, Mellie.” Mary said giving a smile that she hoped was warm. “Though, I’m sure you wished it was under different circumstances.”

mellie-of-hesiod:
Warm green light filtered through the trees as she made her way down the path. It had been some time since she’d given up the train. In that time she had done everything possible to avoid people. The silence was welcomed. For once she couldn’t hear their thoughts, couldn’t feel the pain and guilt they felt. Mellie felt at peace. In the back of her mind her own dark secret pushed at her, but as long as she maintained the wall it stayed put back there, drowned deep in her head behind all the currently pressing issues, like food. It had been a while since she’d been in a town where she filled her bag with waters and random gas station foods. Her stomach was starting to ache with hunger pains and her mind tried to tell it to hold off, she needed to make it last.
It was time to find a town, time to get some more food or work some jobs just until she could get some money to move on. Maybe she’d get a place in the middle of the woods, which sure would be nice. She couldn’t be in such close proximity to people anymore.
Her stomach groaned in protest as she continued forward causing Mellie to relent, she couldn’t continue on with little food forever. Finding a path, she had determined to follow it. It surely would lead to a town. Her steps fast now she had a well-worn path, Mellie made her way down.
Taken the worn path, Mellie’s feet were quick. It was probably some road used rarely or something, since it was so large and wide, but as she continued the forest around her became more menacing, the bright green light turned more dark and ominous as trees began to hide more and more of the filtered sunlight.
It felt strange, but Mellie chalked it up to her own fears and nervousness about going into town affecting how she was seeing the world around her. She continued forward despite the once well maintained road turning into a rutty path and still continued on as vines began to sprawl across the road making almost indiscernible to where the road even was.
As she continued on, a small quiet noise started popping up in the background. Mellie thought it must be people near, secrets tended to be heard before she could even find the person. However, she couldn’t spot anyone in sight no matter how much she walked or looked.
Still, she pushed until the voices became so loud she could barely hear herself think. Her mind was filled with these secrets, most of them darker than any she had heard before. Looking around, she finally realized the source of the sound. The little white flowers were giving her secrets, they were the ones screaming in her mind, telling her of all the horrors of people she didn’t even know.
Frustrated, she gripped her head in attempt to quiet them. Her stomach was growling, her mind pounded with pain and frustration and her ears rang from all the secrets. Her hands clawed at her hair, trying to find anything to distract her from the noise as she finally broke.
Since she had left her home, had left the Order, Mellie had not once cried. She didn’t shed a tear for the mother who didn’t want her nor the friends she left without a goodbye to. Mellie simply went forward. She was used to tragedies, she heard them constantly and her own felt small in relation to some of the people she stumbled upon. She shouldn’t be upset with her own. But in this moment, it was unbearable and the tears overflowed from her eyes spilling down her cheeks.
Frustrated, she stomped on the flowers, attempting to silence them. Attempting to rid herself of the secrets.
As it didn’t work, she started kicking them screaming. “Shut up stupid flowers! Shut up!”
Tumblr media
Mary was... Well, she didn’t really know how she felt right now. Everything in town was currently falling apart and all she could do was sit back and watch. She doesn’t really have the ability to make a difference and that makes her so angry. She really likes Swynlake. It’s one of the few places that she’s been where she feels she belongs, but she currently felt helpless. Like how she had felt when her parent’s had possessed and taken from her. She couldn’t do anything then and she can’t do anything now. She didn’t have abilities, she isn’t a magick, she’s just the same sad little girl she has always been.
And it felt like everything was caving in on her, especially with those talking flowers. When she first heard them speak about a girl hunting demons she thought no one could possibly think that’s her, she keeps to herself. But then she got to thinking how that could make her seem more suspicious. Not to mention, as much as she loves Swynlake, she’s still uncomfortable around magic. She didn’t know who to trust. It seemed she wasn’t the only one who held a grudge against the pesky flowers, not that she would kick them, she like nature too much for that.
“Are you okay? I don't think they can fight back. At least, I don’t think these particular flowers can.”

Phoebus: Hm. I can look for it in our system? Has the lead been entered into the system or is it an amateur detective lead we're following?
Boo: Well, I guess you could say it's an amateur detective.

Mary ‘Boo’ Gibbs Aesthetics (1/?) || Favourite Color: Purple
When Mary was a little girl her favourite color was purple. A light pastel purple like the walls of her childhood bedroom. Her mother had painted the walls along with her father and uncle when they moved into the house. Well, actually her mom had really just been supervising but she thought that counted as her helping. Though, her mom did paint the forest trees on one of her walls all by herself. Her mom had chosen the color saying it fit her personality. After her parent’s possession and then disappearance, her favourite color continued to be purple but she began to favour darker shades. Perhaps because her personality had darkened as well, but the color purple always brings back good memories.

Phoebus: Did that apply to police officers? Unless your activity is illegal. Then best not to tell me.
Boo: I don't think it's illegal, officer.
Boo: I'm just looking for someone.
