Caper in the Castro is a legendary video game, not because legions of die-hard fans continue to play it, but because it was thought to be lost forever. Now, what is largely considered to be the first LGBTQ-focused video game (it was released in 1989) is on the Internet Archive for anybody to play.
The game is a noir point-and-click that puts the player in the (gum)shoes of a private detective named Tracker McDyke who is, in case you couldn’t guess by the name, a lesbian. McDyke must unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of Tessy LaFemme, a transgender woman, in San Francisco’s Castro district, an historically gay neighbourhood.
OOOOOHhh!
The game was released as charityware – freely, with a strong request to give a donation an AIDS Charity of their choice. I’d like to push towards still following that and donating, if you’re able.
(And you might also want to donate to the Internet Archive, who is hosting it now, while you’re at it – they’re in the middle of a donation drive, and could use your support.)

Puritanism is getting worse around the globe and conservatives and fascists will absolutely be first going harder against porn, then use that against queer people. You HAVE to realise this and oppose anti porn measures and laws, be in solidarity with sex workers, and listen to them when they call this shit out. It's going to be vitally important.

Please have heart and do not skip!
Donations needed urgently
My family and I are halfway to our goal, and we need as much help as we can get!
This donation was verified by @gazavetters , and is number 43 in the spreadsheet.
We don't ask for much, just 10€ should be enough!
By donating, you are not only helping me, you are saving me and my family.
We have managed to raise 26,000€ since the beginning of our campaign thanks to you, and like any other Palestinian fighting for his life against the oppressors, I do not wish for us to surrender to the murderous regime. Please, together we can raise enough to afford basic necessities and also to enable us to escape through the border crossing, once it opens.
Note:the above art is the work of artist @catnapdreams thank you for this beautiful drawing ♥️🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

some actually practical pieces of information that hopefully may quell some worries about Trump's second term:
This article explains the impracticality and illegality of Project 2025, and why most of it is very likely to be legally struck down.
This article explains how, even with a narrow Republican majority in the House, Trump will only be able to pass very bland partisan laws or bipartisan laws.
The ACLU has already prepared a gameplan for combatting the effects of Project 2025.
The state of New York has contingency plans to fight against Project 2025.
like obviously it's still gonna be a rough 4 years, and i'm not dismissing any legitimate worries. i'm just hoping this might ease some anxieties just a little.
if anyone else has some similar pieces of practical information that can dispel some of the panic, please feel free to share them!
stay vigilant and keep fighting, but try not to despair. try to keep a calm and level head as we head into the new year.

Guess what people? This episode about trans women in sports has been officially leaked! It is no longer lost media. I don’t usually condone leaks but in this case, I feel it does some good.
UPDATE: Disney has taken down the episode. I recommend you keep posting and spreading it around. Found a better link: https://archive.org/details/na-the-gatekeeper_202411

Disney banned an episode of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur called "The Gatekeeper," because of the current political climate in the US. So the episode is about Lunella's friend Brooklyn being targeted by the coach of a rival volleyball team, Greer, who found out she was trans and tried to stop her from playing. She even goes as far as to trap Brooklyn, Lunella and the others in the locker room, and will only let them out if they follow her "rules."
Brooklyn: "I'm trans, my very existence breaks Greer's rules, which means, as long as I'm a member of this team...we'll never escape..."
And they break out of the room specifically by breaking the rules. There's also an awesome video game-like scene where the team fights a monster-like version of Greer by throwing volleyballs at her, with streaks colored like the trans flag.
Brooklyn: "It doesn't matter how many doors people like you slam in my face. With my fight, plus my crew backing me up, I'm always gonna find my way out."
This episode is EXACTLY what trans kids need right now, but no, Disney was too spineless to air the episode. They can claim for the 69420th time that XYZ is their first gay character, they can sell rainbow Mickey Mouse pins, they can put up pride month collections on Disney+, but it's clear that they only "support" the LGBTQ+ community when it's profitable for them.

Here’s another supposed quote from Carrol that was NEVER written by him and according to Google Books Ngram Viewer, was never written down until the year 2008 at the very LATEST.
How many times is this gonna keep happening??

While the Onion buying InfoWars is indeed extremely funny, very few of the posts I've seen commenting on the sale have mentioned that the families of the Sandy Hook victims apparently agreed to voluntarily reduce their lawsuit payout as part of a deal to ensure that the Onion would acquire InfoWars wholesale, rather than having the company broken up and auctioned off piecemeal, as the latter course could potentially have allowed some of those pieces to end up back in the hands of Alex Jones' cronies.
Like, yes, it is in fact very funny that InfoWars is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the Onion, but the real props go out to the Sandy Hook families who saw the opportunity and willingly gave up the additional millions of dollars that could have been realised by stripping InfoWars for parts in order to make that happen.
(EDIT: Fixed a sentence incorrectly suggesting that Clickhole is still affiliated with the Onion – it totally slipped my mind that they'd sold it back in 2020.)

it's so funny to me that conservatives think the reason university students become more liberal is because of the actual course material and not like. the fact that universities in the US introduce are oftentimes the first place Americans are introduced to a walkable environment with affordable health care, with community spaces for any affiliation under the sun where they give you free resources and cheap food. with included public transit and opportunities for training in your field of choice. and you realize that for how much you're spending on tuition/taxes, yeah, you do deserve these things, it would be insane not to have those. and then you graduate and go back to having to buy a car to drive 20 minutes to the grocery store.
