Can I just say I adore how you draw your characters. Especially giving them some belly, as someone who's belly gives me some dysphoria, seeing your characters being free, happy and confident in themselves with a body shape like mine helps me feel better with myself.
Keep on keeping on, you do good work
oh my gosh of course!! i mean one... i think that a lot of cartoon art (because of years of stylizing, i dont want to say anyone who does this is fatphobic or anything just a product of something they maybe havent like. unpacked or thought about before) tends to like. slim out? all its designs. like, if you notice, a 'normal' cartoon body type is often almost stick figure like. and i know this is because of years of trying to make designs easier to animate but, i cant help but see how down the line its also effected people's body image...
now i see characters who barely have any body fat being called chubby, or characters who are genuinely drawn fat get slimmed down by artists who just have no idea how to draw body fat because the characters they grew up learning to draw were not.
and well. i would like to challenge that!!! the thing is most people have bellies. most people have bigger legs or some arm fat, or if they dont they will as they age. it is very bittersweet getting messages like this, i am so happy my work helps people in the way i would like it to.. though i wish it also had not come to this point either...!
i know what a comfort it is to see yourself in art. it is like a mirror that is designed to make you realize your own beauty and worth. i would like to put that mirror in everyone's hand.
