gun to my head: You can only have a specific number of skills and if you run out of space you have to forget how to do things like a Pokémon. Including any skill upgrades you invested.
Spiritual nosebleed imagining a game where players don’t have any preexisting set of skills for their characters and when you want to accomplish something that needs a skill check you are required to create a completely new skill titled whatever you want.
you can use a skill you made previously to try something new, sure, but points are given for how well the skill you are using applies to the current task. Using “strength” is less effective than “Rotating doorknobs” when it comes to opening a door.
