a third year high school student at budogaoka high school. not many are close to baki, but there are rumors around the school in some circles about his strength and athletic feats. he doesn't have time to pay any of that any mind, however, as in the pursuit of battle with his elusive father, he finds himself awakening a strange ability.

the only child of the leader of the akezawa group, emi akezawa. after her passing he has no dreams of taking on the title of being her heir — she raised him as a fighter and her death only motivates him more to get strong enough to prove she didn't raise a weak son. originally an underground fighter in search of enough strength to surpass her killer, baki is told of a tournament where strong competitors gather to compete. he can't pass up any chance to test his strength and knows the one opponent he wants nothing more than to prove himself against would feel the exact same way.
