Other Magical Beings in tBoMT

I often see people questioning the oversimplification of the BoMT world being restricted to humans, fairies, and elves, when the show itself brings up mermaids. I'm surprised people don't also mention goblins and nymphs, which are mentioned in the first two episodes of the first season. Maybe these other beings are minorities, who don't get a lot of representation? In which case, the DMI needs some serious affirmative action!

Darra the Tease?

I'm surprised people don't make a deal out of this: Darra was probably originally written as a player / tease / bad boy. We see this most obviously in the first two episodes of the first season. 1. The flirty look he gives Kyra, a complete stranger, as they pass each other at the juice place. (ep 01) 2. Immediately after, when Imogen hassles him about getting home late last night, he says he was at a wild goblin party. (ep 01) 3. When Kyra joins them for class, as they're flirting, Imogen pointedly interrupts by asking Darra about his date with the tree nymph. (ep 02) 4. When Imogen says she isn't trying to protect Darra from Kyra; rather, she wants to protect Kyra from Darra. (ep 10) 5. Also, there are a few places throughout the series when Darra teases Imogen and the girls, not in a flirty way, but in a mischievous way that we don't see consistently from him (e.g. "Ooh, Imogen misses the teacher"). It seems that this "teasing" side of Darra was written out, forgotten about, or just ignored in later episodes. Not sure why. Maybe because the show writers didn't want to focus too much on Darra + Kyra; the show is not actually a "teen drama," after all. Or maybe because Julian Cullen was a new actor and this type of character didn't look natural on him? I think Darra's personality probably became quieter to suit the actor. Anyone have other thoughts?

Odd Asian SheetMasks

I wonder if Westerners ever think Asian skincare is just messing with us?

Is Bird’s Nest more of a Chinese thing? I don’t really see it pop up much in Korean or Japanese beauty. Snail and Horse Oil have been popping up a lot, though. Didn’t notice Bee Venom (I posted Royal Jelly just in case some of you think “bee venom” is code for “honey”), Snake, or Donkey Milk before.

Even though I was in Beijing, instead of eating duck for every meal, I visited KFC once. Found a life-sized Luhan cutout, but didn’t take a selfie because I was feeling pretty that day and didn’t want to ruin it by seeing how ugly I am next to the princess.

There were numerous places with Yixing ads next to Luhan ads. Cuz Layhan will never die. I have seen Luhan in airplane magazines, so when I finally found Yixing in one, decided to snap a pic.

One of my mini-missions in Beijing was to visit l'Occitane for the Luhan products. Of course the scent he endorses is Cherry Blossom.

I loved this moment. Loved Luhan rolling around in Baek’s lap. Loved how even though Baekhyun was in a bad mood, he still humored Luhan and let the baby deer rest on his leg, and he even tried to smile at Lulu’s chattering. Like watching girlfriend!Luhan try to cheer up boyfriend!Baekhyun.
