Korra - 20 years later by ~ankalime

I was playing with the designs… I think it would be great if the second season took place after some bigger time gap. I sketched it before the new informations about Book Two, so especially Mako’s future is kinda different and you may or may not agree with me… whatever. You can say it’s AU. Korra - still doing her Avatar stuff, travelling a lot, bringing balance etc. She became very strong and independent women. (I imagine she’s kinda like Izumi Curtis from FMA, including relationship with her husband ;D) Mako - he invested his money in setting up orphanages and schools; he’s well-known for his charity work. He’s more calm and peaceful now, but still a powerful firebender. Bolin - yeah, I’m not very original with this one :p; Chief of Republic City’s Metalbending Police Force, favourite student of Lin Beifong, great womanizer with a golden heart. Asami - businesswoman, the owner of the Future Industries; she changes the development of the company to more peaceful direction, producing more consumer goods. She wishes she had more time for her friends and riding her motorcycle.

I forgot to add that at some point, Bolin gets in trouble for something Iroh did (he offers himself up) and is severely punished. It was unclear what the crime was in my dream. But Iroh takes care of him afterwards. Yay!

Also, this fits in nicely with an idea I had before that Iroh had a previous lover who died. Of course his name wasn't Bolin, but Iroh sees his spirit in Bolin and falls in love.

Maybe I'll write this story for the reincarnation theme for 30 days of Broh when I get a day off. ;)

A few years later, Iroh is now a captain and Bolin is a sergeant. They are nearly inseparable and are always given the same assignment because of how well they work together. It never bothers either of them that Iroh is Bolin's commanding officer, nor do they see it that way. But there is one thing that is getting in the way of their cooperation: women. Bolin loves them. He brings them back to the ship all the time and disappears for entire nights, leaving Iroh to take midnight walks on the deck by himself. One evening, Iroh secretly follows Bolin and one of his girlfriends to Bolin's quarters, and as he crouches outside the door he realizes that this is what he wants--for Bolin to hold and kiss him with that kind of passion, to whisper those vulgar words to him in the dark.

The next time they are alone, Iroh kisses Bolin. Bolin says no and turns away. Iroh wants to say he's sorry, but he isn't. In his anger, he tells Bolin that he's better than all of Bolin's girlfriends combined, arrogantly reminding Bolin that he's the youngest captain in the army and also the future Fire Lord. Bolin replies sadly that this is the exact reason they can't be together: there's stigma associated with sexual relationships between officers and soldiers, especially for someone as important as Iroh. But Iroh sees this only as an excuse for Bolin to avoid him so he can spend more time with girls.

They grow apart and are eventually reassigned to different units. Iroh throws himself into his work and quickly moves up the ranks. Oddly enough, Bolin sleeps around less often now that Iroh is no longer in his life. When he's not training new enlistees, he's wandering aimlessly on deck or through unfamiliar city streets. Pabu keeps him company, but something is always missing.

On a summer evening several years later, after Iroh had just finished inspecting one of their ships, he finds his old friend on the top deck with a bottle of rice wine, gazing at the stars.

"Am I drunk?" asks Bolin, when Iroh greets him, blinking in disbelief.

"It's quite likely," says Iroh, pointing to Bolin's bottle.

"Then you're not real."

"Maybe not."

They embrace and Bolin kisses him, but Iroh pushes him away and insists that Bolin is definitely drunk. Somehow, they end up in Bolin's quarters and have hot passionate sex. Then they make love slowly and fall asleep.

At sunrise, Iroh tries to sneak out before Bolin wakes up. But just as he starts putting his clothes back on, he hears Bolin's voice.

"Where do you think you're going?"

Iroh stiffens. "It was an accident. You were drunk... and we..."

"Oh, Iroh," Bolin laughs. "You just thought I was drunk. I was pretty convincing, I must admit."

Iroh feels a strong pair of arms encircle his waist, the warmth of a broad chest against his back, a whispered love confession caressing his neck--and he thinks he could die at that precise moment and still be happy.

AND THEN I WOKE UP.

Here is an example of how easy it is to find and credit the original source of a picture. Right click the picture above, copy the image URL, and go to http://images.google.com. Click on the little camera button on the right of the search bar and paste in the URL. Click "search". The fourth link goes to the DeviantArt page of the artist. The artist even provides a URL to the Tumblr post on her DA.

That took me less than 30 seconds to find. If you're on Tumblr right now, you can definitely spare 30 seconds of your day to credit an artist.

Wow, I'm still trying to get over the fact that someone just told an artist off for being upset that their art was posted without credit.

But really, "it's the internet" is such an invalid argument. It's the real world, and if you display your artwork in public, people can take pictures of it and distribute the pictures in any way they want. Actually, no, that's not how it works. Maybe it's not illegal, but it's immoral, and only uneducated people or just plain nasty people would post someone else's art without crediting the artist.

Google Image Search makes it so easy. Just click the little camera in the corner of the search bar. Try it sometime.

Also, it's the internet, and artists can be hostile on their blogs if they want to.

Omg OMG I AM LITERALLY SPAZZING OUT RIGHT NOW. The mask, the asian-looking designs on their outfits and Iroh's sword, the bandages, BOLIN'S SEXY HAIR. Perfect. He rocks that ninja look. I am so stealing their designs from you. ;)

Also, love the twist you added about the name Phoenix. It works so well.

This is the story of an AU where Amon had won, everyone is under attack and the avatar has gone into hiding.  Bolin can’t stand to watch how many people get persecuted, the equalists trying to hunt down every single bender.  He decides to become a night vigilante, going under a different alias “The Bedrock” (yes you can laugh) to try to destroy the flanks.  

Iroh in the other hand, has heard of this mysterious person, eventually becomes something resembling the Blue Spirit that his grandfather had talked to him so much about…this time naming himself “Phoenix” in the back of his mind trying to get rid of that bad connotation of “Phoenix King” and instead using the name for good  (“Phoenix King of getting his BUTT wooped”)

I’m bad at designs so sjfldksjfd -rolls away under a rock- I did my best, this is for you Boba, who was the awesome person that came up with this awesome AU weh you can change the designs as you want because my art sucks and -dies-

6/16/12 - Watched Episode 10. Nearly shat myself in the final 10 seconds for obvious reasons. Discovered the General Iroh tag on Tumblr.

6/17/12 - Drew my first fanart (Iroh/Lin) after 4 years of hiatus. Made a Tumblr. Saw this Broh gifset in Iroh tag and rolled my eyes at fandom. Had to admit though, coolest ship name.

6/23/12 - Watched Finale. Disappointed and desperate for new ship involving General Hotpants. Decided to continue shipping Linroh, with "Fanboy Bolin/Captain Iroh" as my crack!ship.

6/24/12 - Fine, Linroh is sunk. Settling for Bumi/Iroh bromance. But this lovely Broh fanart by Ka-ness appeared later in the Iroh tag, which I reblogged with my very intelligent and coherent commentary, as usual. Hmmm... SS Broh is quite enticing. What is this new emotion stirring in my chest?

6/27/12 - Started my first fanfic after 5+ years of hiatus, labeled as "Iroh and Bolin bromance", in which they would bond over falling in love with women who would never love them back.

6/28/12 - THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF MY LIFE.

Since I saw a few people post about Broh and school earlier...

I'm going to use Broh as a motivator to study.

If I get "honors" on tomorrow's test (>90), I will buy Photoshop and start a Broh adventures webcomic. Possibly AU, so I can change the character names and pass it off as original if I ever need an art portfolio in the future (if by some chance, I decide I'd rather become a medical illustrator after I graduate). Or, if not AU, possibly with Jules, if she's still into the idea. It will update once every week or two weeks, and it might be a good way for me to learn how to organize my time to include creative projects. Med school must be pass/fail for a reason, and I have a feeling it's because they want to encourage us to pursue other interests and be more human, instead of obsessing over perfect grades.

There, I said it. Now I need to sign off and study for the next 27 hours. Wish me luck?
