Taking a Break
Hey folks! I’m sad to say that I’m putting a hold on the sketch a day project for the time being. I have several that I haven’t uploaded yet that I’ll be putting up soon, but other than that I’m tapping out for now.
I’ve had fun the past few weeks working with your prompts, but sadly this was just one project too many for me at the moment! But I hope to revisit it when I’m feeling less overwhelmed.
In the mean time, feel free to keep sending in your prompts! I enjoy seeing what people come up with, and I’ll try to put out a sketch from time to time

[ID: Photo of a pencil sketch: A person wearing sunglasses and a backwards hat holds a can of coca cola out in front of them. The word “Radical!” is written in the background]
The raddest drink around, it’s totes yeet!
a soda can, drawn with your non dominant hand - Anonymous.
Anon, if you’re seeing this, this was tremendously fun. It also turned out better than I was expecting. The lines are incredibly shaky and I couldn’t get the arm quite right, but it’s got the exact vibe I was going for. Totes yeet y’all, totes yeet.

[ID: photo of a pencil sketch. A man sits on the kitchen floor, staring very intensely at an artichoke he is holding in front of himself]
Have I... have I been confusing artichokes and asparagus this entire time?
An artichoke - @mariaalenkoshepard
Fun fact about me, I don’t really eat artichokes or asparagus. It just hasn’t come up in my life thus far. So apparently them beginning with the same letter is enough for me to occasionally mix them up.
This is actually the happiest I’ve been with a drawing in a few days, which I wasn’t expecting. You never know what;’s going to break you out of your rut, I guess.

Now the mighty hunter takes down its prey.
Smokey playing with his favourite toy - @mariaalenkoshepard
I have come to the conclusion that draiwng cats is difficult. Drawing everything is difficult, but cat fluff is challenging for me.
FOr those not in the know, I have a cat called Smokey! His favourite toy is a duck on elastic string that hangs from the doorway. I’m not sure that I capture his essence in this one, but it did turn out better than i was expecting, which I will happily take as a win.

[ID: photo of a pencil sketch. A cat walking along a street, wearing a top hat and a mini cape with a bowtie.]
Jeeves? Why is this urchin approaching me?
A cat wearing a hat - @makingshortstorieslong
I had a lot of trouble with this one, honestly. THere was a lot of erasing and redrawing and just not managing to get it to look the way I wanted. I eventually managed to wrangle it to something acceptable, but I still think it could have gone better.
I do enjoy the concept though, and I hope you do to!

[ID: photo of a pencil sketch. A person sits at a table, eating a sandwich and reading a book]
Oh shoot, I got butter on the pages.
What you ate for lunch - @makingshortstorieslong
Okay! I’m finally posting my backlog! I don’t know why I got into such a mental block with this, I just couldn’t seem to get myself to do it.
Probably didn’t help that this one didn’t come out very well. But sometimes you just do a bad drawing, you know? It’s a fried egg sandwich, by the way. love some quick and easy protien

Anonymous: swords?
Anonymous: A can of soda, as drawn by your non-dominant hand
I'm not sure if this is all the same anon or a couple of different people, but thank you so much for the contribution! I can stave off the hat's dark hungers for a few more days!

Hey! Quick update, I AM still keeping up with my daily sketches, I just haven’t uploaded the ones from the last couple of days. I’m having a weird mental block with it, but I’m going to bust through it tomorrow and clear up the backlog.

Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you - @mariaalenkoshepard
I have things to say about this one, but my words aren’t good atm so I’m going to edit in my commentary later

[ID: photo of a pencil sketch. A person is lying on a sofa, with one foot raised in the air, they are staring at the foot while they rotate the ankle]
Do you ever do that thing, where you just lift your foot in the air and watch it go round and round?
I had a ten hour round trip to a GIC today, so this is about where I am as a person right now. Tomorrow I will do a better sketch

[ID: photo of a pencil sketch. A black and white cat lying on his side]
A cat - @makingshortstorieslong
I had a cat named Thomas, he was a rescue from off the streets. One day he decided my lap was his favourite seat, and I couldn’t sit down near him without him curling up on me.
It was nice to spend some time thinking about him during today’s drawing. I hope the smug bastard is resting easy.

A flag in the wind - @makingshortstorieslong
Posting on time, I did it!
I’m not sure I have a coherant thought about this one. I was feeling out a vibe, I think I got somewhere close to it.

[ID: Photo of a pencil sketch. A cat is lying casually on top of some kind of chest. There are some human fingers hanging out from the lid]
Schrodinger? I know the name. I haven’t seen him. This does remind me of a delightful thought experiment though
Schrodinger 2: Revenge of the cat - @mariaalenkoshepard
I need to get back to posting these on time. I finished this yesterday and then just didn’t post it.
When I drew this yesterday it felt a bit sparse. Today it feels really rough and empty. But I think that’s okay; sometimes you’re not going to be happy with your work. That’s no reason to dwell on it forever. Conceptually I still think it’s pretty funny though

[ID: Photo of a pencil sketch. The sketch is of an old boot. The front has been torn where the top meets the sole of the shoe]
A boot - @makingshortstorieslong
ComPLETEly forgot to post this yesterday. I decided to just draw an old boot from a reference image
You know, one of my big worries about drawing is that I’m just never going to know how to add detail properly. There was so much in this reference image that I just didn’t know how to translate into a drawing. I guess it’s the kind of thing you just have to keep doing until you figure it out.
Anyway, sorry if this drawing isn’t as interesting as usual XD I thought it would be a good opportunity to practice shoes. I’m not very good at shoes.

[ID: a man in a sherlock holmes style outift poses in front of a stary background. He is making a peace sign in one hand, and holding a magnfying glass over his eye with the other. One foot is popped up behind him]
By the power of observation, I declare you guilty!
A magnifying glass - @makingshortstorieslong
What if Sherlock Holmes, but it was an anime girl transformation? I will bet £10,000 that manga already exists.
I actually have nothing else to say about this one. Anime girl sherlock holmes; it was a fun draw
