Whenever Sam is shown sleeping in season 1, it’s usually in this position: on his back, hands resting on his stomach. When Sam dies at the end of season 2, he’s lying in the same position, which makes me think Dean arranged him that way. Gently laid him out on his back, set his hands across his stomach, so it looks like he’s sleeping.
