oooooooh hell yeah, neat
I was planning on doing reference drawings, but as long as you understand the information, that's fine for me. Plus, I didn't have any ideas for references.
There are sketches that were hastily made and poorly drawn. Sorry for that.
Anyway, today I'll talk about Starfolk and Darfolk, both sentient and non-sentient. I don't remember in which post I mentioned whether they're sentient or not, but I'll also talk about how they coexist, what the kingdoms are like, the rules they have to prevent them from killing each other, and how they view transcendence.
First topic: Conscious and non-sentient Starfolks and Darkfolks
First of all, factions don't necessarily need to eat or drink food. However, if they drink coffee or tea, they can recover energy more quickly, so they get a drink from time to time, but they can't starve to death (unless they're small fragmented). However, they also have to be careful because there are cases where taking a drink can drain their energy and cause chaos depending on how hard it hits their head (ehem, Avenujum).
With that clear, in this au, starfolks and darkfolks beings can be conscious or unconscious.
What does that mean?
Starfolk or darkfolk can have consciousness, they know what they're doing, they think, they have feelings, and they can make decisions for themselves. Generally, conscious people can control their nature, which allows them to think clearly.
Now, starfolks and darfolks, who lack consciousness, are guided by their nature. It doesn't matter if you make them hesitate for a moment. They are incapable of perceiving a shred of rational thought. They don't know what they're doing. They are aggressive, they don't control their nature, they let it drive them, and they only think about one thing: being the strongest.
Generally, only some starfolk or darkfolk achieve sentience, or at least those for whom there is conclusive evidence that they do. These would be:
Hawks (Assassins) Seraphs (If someone tells me what species Edda and Aven are, it would be very helpful, because I know that Duality (Diana and Joseph) must be the same species as those two) Fairies (some) Paladins Angels Demons
So far, it is unknown if another race can be sentient.
Despite being sentient, they still have conflicts with their respective counterparts. Some are mild, and others can lead to unwanted incidents. But thanks to Angel and Demon, they have agreed on some rules so that these sentient beings can coexist peacefully. It is not entirely perfect. The sentient beings still fight among themselves, but at least they are being kept at bay.
As for non-conscious starfolks or darkfolks, they have an intelligence scale. Some believe that depending on their intelligence they can become conscious beings, but this was denied by Demon, who usually investigates these types of topics. However, some non-conscious starfolks or darkfolks can become docile and easy to tame, perfect companions for conscious ones. An example is Volcano and Aven.
Volcano is a phoenix, described as a non-sentient being. However, it has a capacity for intelligence and comprehension, but it's not comparable to that of a sentient being. Although Volcano has no real reason to accompany Aven, they get along very well, and they demonstrate an aggressive and protective attitude toward those who try to attack them.
This happens very often with these docile beings. This is the list of those that can become companions or pets, whatever you want to call them:
Cube: A slithering creature. Star: An extremely weak creature, but a friendly companion. Moon: These are solitary creatures and can only be tamed if their trust is earned. Ariman: They are playful, though skittish when something large is present. Snowflake: Distrustful but friendly. FireCube: Hostile and reserved, but playful. Lightning Bolt: Another fussy and playful creature. Wind: Relaxed and fussy. Phoenixes: Surprisingly relaxed and calm creatures. Unicorns: Hostile, but gain their trust and you'll see how affectionate they can be. Lizards: Rare to tame after the unicorn.
The rest of the starfolk or darkfolk outside of these races are difficult or almost impossible to tame; they are extremely aggressive. If someone encounters one, they will have to fight if they want to stay alive. (There are also too many to mention, and it would make this post longer than I'd like.)
I know I've already talked about this, but something else I want to clarify is that some starfolk and darkfolk dedicate themselves to something to avoid thinking about their nature or the intrusive thought of absorbing some blue polarity.
Warriors, guardians, and knights are tasked with preventing unrest, preventing attacks from unsentient creatures, and ensuring that rules are followed and any unnecessary conflict avoided to maintain both the peace of the inhabitants and their own peace of mind.
Treasure hunters, as they often venture through the kingdoms in search of materials, minerals, jewels, or other eye-catching objects, often come into conflict with unsentient starfolk or darfolk. However, there are times when they have to fight with another treasure hunter to prevent them from stealing what they have obtained. No one knows why these fights occur, and many believe that treasure hunters are just greedy and selfish people, at least most people think so.
Collectors are less confrontational and dedicate themselves to observing the objects that treasure hunters give them (of course, they give them a reward, but that's not something that's often mentioned). They analyze their value and, with these objects, they build weapons, accessories, and the minerals that enhance the abilities of starfolk and darkfolk are processed to regulate their impact power when absorbed and prevent the individual from gaining excess power. Generally, those who are collectors are somewhat weak beings who, for some reason, cannot fight, or are beings who are already in a final phase.
To conclude this first topic, starfolk or darkfolk can evolve with sufficient power. An example is Angel, who before being the guardian and leader of an entire faction was only a seraphin who evolved over several years thanks to her strength, skill, and power.
How do starfolk and darkfolk coexist?
They tend to settle in the kingdoms, more specifically in the areas they built, such as towns, villages, or hamlets. Some of these places can inhabit both polarities, but generally, places of the same polarity coexist.
The Midnight Forest, the Sanctuary, and the Mountains are places where the blue polarities inhabit more, while the Crimson Kingdom, the Wellspring, and the Golden City are places where the orange polarities inhabit more. They also built small zones in all the kingdoms for when an opposing polarity rests from their journey.
Rarely does a starfolk get along with a darkfolk without being transcendent, but they generally treat each other somewhat distantly, civilized but not beyond that, unless they are a small sliver. They get along well with any polarity as long as they do not harm them.
If a darkfolk wants to change polarity, the guardians take them to an arena (that door where you can go to a gallery containing all the creatures you fought during the game). They must fight a non-sentient blue polarity to absorb it. In the best case, they can do so; in the worst case, they will die in the attempt. That's why Demon strongly discourages conscious darkfolks from absorbing a starfolk, regardless of whether they are conscious or not, due to the possibility of them dying, obtaining a new identity that develops some personality transformation, or, in the worst case, becoming a transcendent.
Extra fact: Although starfolks and darkfolks live a considerably long time, they have a limit to their lifespan, and that is when they act calmer and less eager to fight. Although their appearance doesn't age, that doesn't mean they move as fluidly as before.
How do you see the transcendents?
Well, it's a very sensitive topic. Starfolks have a very poor view of transcendence, believing them to be overly powerful beings who can cause mass destruction (paranoia can make them believe strange things). They also see them as enemies. Since they aren't of any polarity, they have no solid basis to defend or support them. The last news Angel and Demon had about the transcendents was millennia ago when a conscious darkfolk absorbed an equally conscious starfolk against her will.
Since starfolks and darkfolks are uneasy about the transcendents, in addition to their growing power and equaling that of the guardians, Angel and Demon have the responsibility to maintain the peace. So, the least they can do to prevent them from being harmed or killed is to try to capture them and figure out where to locate them, under the supervision of a warrior so they don't leave the area where they were assigned.
So they see them as threats and have a need to keep them under control. However, the Transcendents prefer not to be controlled and hide from the Starfolk and Darkfolk.
So it's rare to see one; it's a process that rarely occurs, but they aren't interested in investigating them.
Rules Created by Angel and Demon
Both of them were worried for a while about any incidents between the Starfolk and the sentient Darkfolk. Some were absorbed, others caused conflict due to disagreements. Furthermore, some treasure hunters attempted to steal forbidden treasures, which were often moved, which was a tedious task. So they came up with the idea of creating certain rules that they had to consciously strive to follow. The consequences of breaking the rules were to be discussed between Angel and Demon, along with Darkpaladin and Lightning Nightmare (who are also like their assistants, so they must be present), who gave their opinion and an outside perspective on said consequences.
Some rules are directed at everyone, about things they can and can't do. Others are for specific people, and others were added thanks to Aven and the problems he sometimes caused. (Demon needs a break and urgently...)
The rules are:
1- Do not steal forbidden treasures. (General) 2- Capture transcendents. (Warriors/Guards) 3- Do not absorb an unprocessed booster ore. (General) 4- Do not kill any sentient faction. (General) 5- Do not absorb a sentient starfolk. (For the Dark faction) 6- Fight only in the Arena. Outside the Arena, fighting between factions is prohibited. (Except for guards in case things get complicated) 7- Do not provoke darkfolk (For the Light faction) 8- Guardians, warriors, and treasure hunters are allowed to explore dangerous areas. (For collectors) 9- They may defend themselves if they confront a sentient creature. (General) 10- If they have any concerns or something serious happens, they may contact the warriors. (General) 11- You may not steal or take objects guarded by the guardians. (General and added by Aven.) 12- Avoid exploding flammable objects. (General and added by Aven.) 13- Declaring hate crimes is bad behavior and a fairly obvious offense. (General and added thanks to Aven, who overworked the coffee at the time.)
Tumblr media
14- Do not infiltrate restricted areas marked by guards. (General and recently added, specifically directed at Aven as a tip.)

Originally, there were to be nine basic rules to maintain peace, but if something happens that endangers the lives of the conscious factions, they decide to add another rule based on the magnitude of the problem and the statements of those affected.
They're keeping the originator of the new rules anonymous so they don't get criticized or attacked directly (and the fact that they added four rules because of Aven, even if it was an accident, Demon needs a break.)
READY! I've gotten all this out of my system, now I can write my au in peace.
Below are some other things I've done but didn't know how to include. Plus, they're too cute not to show. Consider these bonuses.
Two more minerals. (Research on the internet and if these minerals exist in real life, search for them with the same name and they will appear; they are very beautiful.)

Weapons: They are predetermined in the Starfolks but they can create new ones with the materials that the treasure hunters find.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Accessories: You can find parts or more materials to create these accessories. (The green parts are very rare.)

I want to give some context about the world or how it works at least, I hope you like it, it will take me a long time for all this to make sense and fit together well.
well..... see you later bye.

because the modern idea of love is to "have" someone, to claim ownership of their heart and soul and flesh when that is not the case.
love is not something to be consumed through the vessel of the lover.
when did all the terms for successfully wooing someone start to sound like kidnapping euphemisms
