Finished 9 -nine- chapter 3, and man, this series is still so good, y’all.  I 100% intend to replay the whole shebang start to finish again when I’m done with 4 to see how everything connects, just like I did with Ne no Kami.

Gonna babble a little about spoilers for a bit, so I’m gonna make a cut here.

OK, so Ghost being Yoichi’s illusory body was a twist I didn’t expect, nor the teacher being possessed by Iris or Sophitia being an AU Iris who didn’t go crazy go nuts, this chapter was a wild-ass ride, yo.

Also, on that last note, goddang, the post-credits stinger for this one was a hell of a thing, I went YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO at Sophitia breaking the fourth wall and dubbing the player an AU Kakeru with the actual superpowered Artifact.

... that said, that plot twist, as I’m definitely NOT male, made me immediately go, ���... so....  Kakeru is trans/non-binary?” and I accept that this effectively makes this canon.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I love Momoiro Closet.  It only had two routes, and they were: -Sweet love story with a girl -Sweet love story with the same girl, but also they’re blossoming kinksters

And goddamn, I need more loving kinky shit in my life, Momoiro Closet scratched that particular itch I needed scratching and I want more, dammit.  Let being a little freaky come from a place of love and mutual interest sometimes.

... seriously, tho’, thinkin’ about Amorous Professor Cherry and how rare it is to find VNs outside the BL genre that have dudes chill with having butt stuff done to them.  That part of that VN still surprised the hell out of me and is part of why I appreciate the game despite not being anything super-memorable otherwise.

That feel when you read some porn comics you got off of a Kickstarter because you thought it’d either surprise you or at least be entertainingly terrible and it was neither.

Like, seriously.  I’ve read bad porn VNs that left more of an impression.  Nympho Sensei Ryoko, for example, had pretty art and was honestly pretty hilarious in how much it read like a closeted gay dude trying to write porn for straight dudes.  Yukkuri Panic at least had a fun Qix-like game and was memorially terrible with its SURPRISE INCEST twists and the nearly fatal/surprisingly harmless spike-ended strap-on.

Hell, I’ve read aggressively mediocre smutty VNs that were more memorable.  Harem Party actually had an interesting story when it actually focused on that and not endless sex scenes.  Amourous Professor Cherry was surprisingly endearing and had a dude completely chill with a lady doing butt stuff to him.

But these comics were...  very generic “horny 18-year-old with a DeviantArt account, a Christopher Hart How to Draw Manga book, and a dream”, and this saddens me.  :\

OK, I like the protagonist of Trample on Schatten; he’s a hot-blooded dumbass doing his best and so far is trying his best to do right by the lady he’s with right now.

Also the sex scenes also have male voice, nice

Welp, started Trample On Schatten and congrats, it has the Holy Trinity of the male protagonist in a het VN having:

-A Face -A Voice -A Personality

It also does not hurt the art is suuuuuuuper Princess Waltz-y (maybe it’s the same artist???) and has pretty baller music; so far, so good.

Finished the last route and I call bullshit on that last ending, what the fuck

Also I called who the final guy is and I am super-disappointed by how short this was and how little we actually see of him proper, which is reason number 2 why I am calling bullshit on this ending

Finally finished another route of Hashihime and I can say with some certainly that Professor next best boy after Minakami.

So, finished Kawase’s and Hanazawa’s routes, and... um.

Kawase’s was at least really neat narratively, even though he’s an asshole, but Hanazawa’s was An Experience and I’m not on board.  Congrats, Hanazawa, you managed to out-garbage Kawase, good jorb.

The Professor is next and I imagine that’s gonna be a wild ride too.  And as for the last route...  (Cut for potential spoilers)

Considering there’s, like, three adult characters left after this and I don’t think the game’s gonna be cool enough to let us woo Madame, we’re either fucking our giant not!son or ourselves but older and kind of an asshole, and I’m not sure which I’d prefer.

Started Hashihime of the Old Book Town and boy, is it a thing.  In a good, twisty way, mind, but oh boy, it is Not A Happy Game.

The good:

-I’m still amused the protagonist looks like 1920s Japan Harry Potter. -And that the military love interest looks like 1920s Japan Mueller Vander -And that it actually addresses LGBT/queer issues for 1920s Japan! -And that the protag, despite not realizing he falls under this umbrella too yet, is very supportive of the people who’ve come out to him! -Minakami is best husbando The bad (not bad as in “this game is bad”, but YIKES THIS IS MORBID/SAD)

-There are A Lot of depictions of suicide, so far all of the same character because Time Travel is a thing -Also death.  Lots of death. -Also Sad Queer Folk -And there’s already mentions of a character having been abused by their father and I’m not even done with one route and this route isn’t that person’s. -Seriously, do not go into this lightly if you’re easily upset/triggered by any of this, holy shit.

The weird:

-The Professor.  He is a mad scientist who is also a ball of anxiety and his route is going to be a fucking trip, I just know it.

Finished part 2 of 9 -nine- and ugh, I hoped when I saw the options that “refuse her feelings” meant the true route had no sister-fucking, but I am disappoint.  Not surprised, but disappoint.

The story is still so good, tho’!  And the world is so cool!  Ultimately worth it despite me being all :| -faced at the sex stuff, because.  Um.  Siblings.  Gross.

Also, I KNEW [spoiler redacted] was an untrustworthy piece of garbage!  I still want a chance to have the protag bone [spoiler redacted], tho’.  >.>

... but seriously the sex scenes were ruined because *actual blood siblings what the shit*

Also thank you very much for giving the protagonist a face, a voice, and a personality.  He’s a sour-faced grump and I love him. Especially since having the dude voiced in the smut scenes makes them that much hotter.  .w.

Well, Lilium Triangle is pure fluff, but one thing I’ll give it is there’s only one mention of “we’re both girls!” and it wasn’t prefaced with “but” and was more like, “You’re really OK with this?” and after a yes, it’s was like “OK cool” and it’s not A Big Thing.  Because gooooooooooood, if I see more drama with the line “But we’re both girls!  D:” I will scream.
