For real though, how do you read ‘yn’? Do you fill in your name or read it with the letter names? Or something different?

I almost always fill it in with an name that isn’t my own. Because all the fan fic I consume revolves around our boys if the story establishes the character as non Korean I have a simple name that I fill in mentally.

If the setting is Korea and there aren’t any details that would make it weird for yn to have a Korean name, I give her a Korean name. Like the above, I just fill this in while I read.

A lot of the fics I’ve been reading lately don’t even mention the word ‘yn’ (I appreciate that and YOU writers) so it isn’t always necessary, but I still have this OC sort of mentality whenever I read reader inserts.

I just have a hard time putting myself into the story, except for very rarely. It’s a lot easier for me to imagine a few characters and then put them in just about everything.

So when I see ‘yn’ I instinctively read it as my default OC’s name.
