She loves her animals and is also a mother, and she’s devastated by these attacks and is trying to install security to keep herself, her family, and her animals and home safe.

In 2020, I made a commitment to engage in reparations work. The Black organizers in the anti-racism groups I have been part of (Amy Jones, Amira Aro, Tabetha Wilson, Creighton Leigh, among others) have provided indispensable knowledge, the information about reparations among it. I have learned that everything connects back to white supremacy and white privilege, and that reparations and direct giving is the best way to start making things right.

Reparations are what we owe as white/white-adjacent people to the Black people that we have disenfranchised through white supremacy and our un-earned privilege. 

In 2021, I will re-commit to engaging in this work. New year, new and old needs. We have to pay back the Black women who have fought for their lives throughout history and yet are unfairly killed, discriminated against, etc. They helped break so many barriers. They saved us from another 4 years of Trump. We owe them, plain and simple. We cannot afford to let this fund stall and we can’t afford to let Black MaGes (marginalized genders) go without.

12/28/2020: I am quickly adding a note to this because my situation just got a lot worse, one of my roommates skipped out on our rent, and now we might be homeless next month. I really don’t want to do this but I’m scared and this is terrible news. Also some of my boyfriend’s mother’s friends who were on meth destroyed our vehicle and it won’t start, makes a noise with the keys out of the ignition, they scratched our car door, literally ruining our car and we can’t even drive anywhere the moment we do end up homeless.

Hello everyone and Happy Holidays! My name is Chanelle and I am a 22 year old. My adult life thus far has not been the best because of unstable living situations, and a very unsupportive and racist family. I need help. I have a boyfriend named Josh, 22, and a kitten. These are my only family that I have, and I don’t want this all to end terribly. I didn’t receive anything from my family for the holidays, not even a phone call. For the past 4 years, my family has disowned me because I’m in a interracial relationship. I’ve tried to get them back, but they refuse to get past their ways and I can’t force my family to like someone. Even though my boyfriend is an amazing guy, they just don’t like him, don’t want anything to do with me or him because he isn’t black.

We currently live with roommates, but they aren’t so kind to us. Any simple disagreement we have, we are threatened to get out. Anytime we make a simple mistake, we get texts of rage and we aren’t comfortable here anymore because we know it can crumble any time. It always has us on edge and my boyfriend always has severe anxiety. I really just want our own home.

My boyfriend is also sick from his last job, and could possibly have silicone in his lungs, due to the virus. His job stopped providing proper face masks to work in a concrete plant, and now he has trouble breathing, throws up every morning, gets tired easily, and it absolutely breaks my heart that we cannot afford medical help. We’ve been trying to get his Medicaid information, but durning this pandemic every time we ask for a insurance card to be mailed to us, we never receive it. This has left us hopeless, because we feel as if our Mail is being tampered with as well. Would you all be so kind to help us please?

Our vehicle is also breaking down, we were just driving down the street, and we needed to turn into the parking lot to go into a store. For some reason there was a huge chunk of concrete in the middle of the lane, and it absolutely destroyed our muffler, and our car loses pressure as you try and drive it. It also won’t stay running for long, and will cut off if we sit still for long. so a lot of things are going wrong all at once, 2020 hasn’t been so kind to us.

Please help us, I’m honestly on the verge of crying while writing this because it’s been hard, I wish my family would help me, I reached out to them just to be harassed by them. I really hate having to rely on people I don’t know, but I’m running out of options, and during this pandemic, things are 10x more stressful.

I appreciate everyone who will help me, and everyone who has this far. Thank you. ❤️
