The slider isn’t letting go and it takes a long moment for Donatello to process what is actually happening. He blinks his eyes fully open.

“Wait, you’re up?”

“Right as rain, my dear brother!” Leonardo grins, squeezing the softshell once more for good measure before giving him his space (albeit grudgingly. It’s been so long since he’s been able to walk around, let alone ambush his twin with affection.)

Donatello feels, and probably looks, dazed. His caffeine-dependent brain is surprisingly awake from the realisation that his younger brother is actually out of medbay, in their kitchen, on his own two feet – the softshell does take notice of the slightly unsteady posture which indicates that Leonardo still needs to take it easy.

“Go sit down,” he tells his twin with a frown when he recovers, “you shouldn’t overexert yourself.”

Like I’ve said, I still have ideas for this AU, but we’ve now seen Kendra’s fate. There’s no way she’s surviving in the middle of the desert with no supplies. So that ends this plot thread, and we’ll be back to hopping around a bit, just based on what I feel like lol!
