one sun two sun green sun yellow sun
it's a mix between their aspects and their origins (kind of), jade has the green sun and space while rose has horrorterrors (look close!) and light. tbh I just thought the two sun symbols mirroring each other would look cool lol — and I wanted to paint jade's fur and a gothic-y outfit for rose :))

HOORAY I'VE BEEN ENABLED! ok here we go, be warned that there are going to be spoilers for up to Canto VII below the cut.
Yi Sang, the Mage of Breath: Breath is the aspect associated with freedom, a concept that is heavily fundamentally tied to Yi Sang. Mages are one of the lesser-understood classes, but a common idea is that they are very knowledgeable about, but lack or are negatively affected by their aspect. As the Mage of Breath, Yi Sang's life is defined by the freedom he cannot achieve. He spends his time yearning for Sang Yi, an idealized, winged version of himself, lacking the confidence and understanding to make that reality his own. He is a caged bird, no wind under his wings. Yi Sang's realization that his own wings have been inside him the entire time, that he can break his own chains, that he is the source of his own freedom, is how he fully achieves the power of the aspect of Breath.
Faust, the Witch of Light: Light players are said to be the ultimate knowledge-seekers, and Faust is the scholar to end all scholars, existing in a mental collective with every alternate version of herself at the same time. Homestuck's canonical multiverse theory means she probably wouldn't be that different here. It also, of course, ties into Projmoon's concept of Light, and her mysterious knowledge of Distortion and the Golden Boughs. Witches are a class that have the ability to change or manipulate their aspect, but more importantly the concept of a witch is a major part of Faust's character - her weapon, Walpurgisnacht, is named from a festival heavily associated with witchcraft, and her E.G.O. is a sword shaped like a broomstick.
Don Quixote, the Knight of Hope: This one is pretty straightforward. Knights are fighters, and protectors, and also Don's whole entire thing. Hope is the aspect of belief, conviction, and black/white morality. Don Quixote is someone who is driven by a conviction so strong that it forms the entire basis of the persona of Don Quixote - fighting for justice, for the sake of the weak, for goodness. Her greatest challenge is losing her hope, when she comes to face her past, her nature, and her old family, and struggles with the idea that everything she knows and is is a lie. As much as she teeters towards the aspect of Blood thematically, she is ultimately driven by her belief over her true nature. Sancho's moment of self-actualization is in choosing to continue living her dream to honor the memory of Don Quixote, to stay true to her convictions, and to believe in the self she wants to be. This is Hope.
Ryо̄shū, the Bard of Space: Ryо̄shū is one of the more enigmatic sinners so we have to lean into her source material. In Hell Screen, Yoshihide is an artist who uses human torture as his reference material for creating a folding screen depicting hell - ultimately culminating in unwittingly using the immolation of his own daughter to finish his art. In Limbus Company, Ryо̄shū's similar understanding of 'art' might imply that she has some connection to the Ring, but it pretty solidly lets me assign her Space as a class, the class associated with creativity. Space players are patient and passive, choosing their battles wisely, and Ryо̄shū is often content to watch how a situation unfolds without feeling the need to intervene, but when she does, boy does she. Bard is a passively destructive class, and tends to mark dangerous players - Yoshihide's own downfall is the destruction he slowly wreaks upon himself. Ryо̄shū also tends to solve most of her problems with violence. Also - and this is the most important part - she would fucking LOVE the codpiece. You know she would.
Meursault, the Heir of Mind: Like Ryо̄shū, one of the characters we know less about, so we will have to analyze The Stranger a little. Heirs are the 'go with the flow' class, tending to be guided by their aspect rather than control it. This is almost contradictory to Mind, the aspect of logic, choice, and excessive deliberation. But it works for Camus' Meursault, who is in all respects, a deeply introspective person who simply doesn't care much to alter the course his life is taking, even though his intervention could arguably have given him a much better outcome. Meursault's apathy and nihilism could slide him into Void territory, but I think it's more fitting to go off what we see in-game than overanalyzing the source material. Limbus Meursault is intelligent, analytical and almost never displays even a hint of emotion, which is extreme enough to be a textbook Mind-bound personality. He is content to follow orders and never objects to being told what to do, a passivity fitting of being an Heir.
Hong Lu, the Seer of Blood: God damn it don't make me do this. Don't make me have to analyze a classic Chinese novel I've only ever read a plot summary of. Can't we just wait a few more months until I only have to talk about a video game instead. Ok fine. So seers are a passive observer class, which is exactly what Hong Lu has been doing for the entire plot of Limbus Company - passively observing the journey he's on to have new experiences and become more worldly. Out of all the sinners, he is the least likely to intervene in any situation - he's just there to watch, and offer (somewhat shockingly keen) advice, textbook role of a Seer. Blood is the aspect of connections, relationships, and lineage - 'blood' in the literal sense. Jia Baoyu as a character and his book heavily focus on the relationships between him, his family, and his potential love interests. Hong Lu is an aristocrat whose family background has defined his entire life, and whose siblings and familial intrigue continue to do so throughout his journey.
Heathcliff, the Prince of Heart: Ah, the real reason Heathcliff distorted - he found out he was a Dirk kinnie. Prince is the most active class, defined as a destroyer. A prince will use the power of their aspect to destroy, or will destroy their aspect itself. Heart is a multifaceted aspect - it covers love and romance, which Heathcliff very famously didn't do a good job at. It's also the aspect representing the self and the soul, and not only do Heathcliff's self-destructive tendencies and behavior track for a 'destroyer of self', the worst version of him, the Erlking, quite literally made it his mission to murder every Heathcliff in every alternate universe. As seen in Homestuck, a Prince of Heart has the power to destroy someone's soul, which is as close an approximation of what happened to Cathy as we're probably going to be able to get in this setting.
Ishmael, the Thief of Rage: Thieves are the selfish class. They take their aspect, or take using their aspect, for their own personal gain. This is pre-Canto V Ishmael, driven solely by her vendetta against Ahab, with everyone else on the bus being a means to an end for the sake of achieving her own goals. They're also a particularly active class, and Ishmael someone who's quick to act. Rage is the aspect of negative emotion, truth, and tearing down structured systems. Ishmael is a realist, concerned with what she sees in front of her rather than any pointless optimism. She also doesn't care about the hierarchy of the company when it gets in the way of her goals. Her driving force for a significant portion of her life is vengeance. However, in her confrontation with Ahab, her moment of self-actualization is embodying the Thief of Rage by stealing the vengeance (rage) from Ahab, denying her the satisfaction of killing the white whale.
Rodion, the Rogue of Time: Time is the most active aspect, and time players are those who go with their gut, think on their feet, and work in the moment. Rogue, on the other hand, is a passive class. This conflict of passive and active is what I feel fits Rodya, who feels stifled by the passivity of the Yurodiviye and itches to make a more direct impact. Her hasty choices end up being ones she spends a long time afterwards overthinking and regretting. For a Rogue of Time to be able to be effective, they have to think carefully about what their goals are and how their choices will help them achieve those goals. This is a struggle I think is particularly fitting of Rodion's character arc. There's also some thematic elements in here that are imo really fitting - the Rogue is a 'Robin Hood' type, stealing for the benefit of others. This is exactly what the Yurodiviye's purpose is. Additionally, the effective sequel to Rodion's canto, Timekilling Time, takes place in T Corp's district and has time as an overarching theme in the narrative.
Sinclair, the Page of Life: Page is the class given to those who have the most insecurity and have the longest journey ahead of them, but when they are able to develop as people, they become more powerful than any other class. This is reflected in Sinclair, who is nervous and lacks confidence, but has a potential for extreme strength that emerges in times of crisis. It's also not unusual for Pages to suffer from bullying, which Sinclair certainly, certainly did. Life is an aspect that deals with the betterment of the self, and this is where both Emil Sinclair and Limbus Sinclair shine as Page of Life. The end goal of their narrative is to, in a confusing world, learn how to be the best person. Life players are also marked by a distinct kindness and empathy, and Sinclair is a more welcoming person than the masses of the City who have given into pessimism and selfishness. Finally, it has some nature symbolism that tracks with Sinclair's symbol of a hatching chick and his weapon being made of a tree branch.
Outis, the Sylph of Void: Ah, Outis - easily the most enigmatic of the sinners. Her name literally means 'nobody'. Her employee records are classified. Thankfully, this actually makes it extremely easy to assign her an aspect - Void is the aspect of secrets, mystery, and obfuscation. It is the defining concept for a woman whose entire life is hidden behind closed doors. Sylphs are a healer class, and Outis is implied to have been a combat medic in the Smoke War, with a caduceus symbol appearing on the shoulder of her old uniform in her To Páthos Máthos art. Sylphs serve a supporting and advisory role, which is appropriate to describe Outis' role on the bus. Void is an interesting aspect though, because as the aspect of negativity it also has an inverse effect on how the class acts. Sylphs are normally a healing class, but what is someone who 'heals nothing'? Considering the shadowy past and implied acts of atrocity she seems reluctant to talk about, it seems apt.
Gregor, the Maid of Doom: Doom is the aspect of death and misfortune, and those bound by it are effectively cursed with it. Misery has surrounded Gregor's entire existence, conscripted into a war, his body genetically altered, tossed out into a world that reviles him, and having to watch one of the first friends he makes after the fact die in front of him with nothing he can do. But maids are a class that help, help with or 'fix' their aspect, and being Doom-bound gives those who possess this aspect a deep empathy that only those who have gone through everything can have. As the very first sinner to undergo his emotionally traumatic episode of Limbus Company, he is in a position of being pretty emotionally okay for every subsequent canto, and can serve as a voice of understanding for others' difficulties. Also, maid is a class that tends to be female, which makes it a pretty fun choice for our beautiful bride.
Additionally, though it isn't reflected in the art, I have assigned all of these guys a Lunar Sway:
Faust: Derse Yi Sang: Derse Don Quixote: Prospit Ryо̄shū: Prospit Meursault: Derse Hong Lu: Prospit Heathcliff: Prospit Ishmael: Derse Rodion: Prospit Sinclair: Prospit + Derse (you know how it is with having themes of duality) Outis: Prospit Gregor: Derse
