I love the versatility of Caretaker gently brushing Whumpee’s hair out of their face, like there’s so many scenarios
Whumpee has a fever and Caretaker is smoothing their hair back to see how high it is
Whumpee is having a nightmare and Caretaker is trying to calm them down by stroking their hair and scratching their scalp
When an injury is being treated, Caretaker is combing their fingers through Whumpee’s hair and softy shushing them through the painful process
Whumpee’s hair is infront of their eyes and when Caretaker carefully moves it away, they see that Whumpee is crying (one of my personal favourites)

whump trope: grovelling.
Too much to like about this. Too much to like about:
A brooding, leering Whumper closing in on a Whumpee who’s incapable of running anymore. (Exhaustion, fear, or a bit of corporal punishment)
Whumper just laughs, mocks and coos as they take two steps closer for every inch Whumpee manages to grovel away.
Whumpee straining to keep their head up off the ground so they can see forward.
A smooth floor offering desperate hands no traction. No hope.
The little groans of pain, whimpers of fear and raspy sobs that Whumpee can’t help making.
Whumpee begging as they do it. “Please, please—”
Or having no voice to even beg. All their remaining energy is channelled into pulling their broken bodies away from their Whumper.
And a stupidly smug Whumper just thinking out loud… cocking their head, smirking down at the scrambling mess at their feet. “Aww, are we trying to get away? Adorable, aren’t you…”
All Whumper needs to do is rest a foot on their butt or back and the slightest weight behind it pins Whumpee completely down.
Whumpee pathetically crying because there really is no escape now.
Indentations of gravel and bits of dirt in delicate palms/forearms/elbows.

Stockholm Syndrome Prompts
All those little whumpees who slowly forget why they're fighting. Gradually learning to love their whumper.
.
"You know I have to punish you for this, right? I'm sorry. I don't want to. I hate to see you cry...but it's the only way you'll learn."
Whumpee slowly gaining privileges the better they behave. It's easier if they just obey.
Nightmares. Whumpee dreaming of Whumper hurting them. They scream and thrash, waking up to Whumper holding them close. "Shh...it's okay. It was just a dream. I'm not going to hurt you..." Whumpee almost believes it.
Whumpee looks tense, so Whumper gives them a massage.
Whumpee's favorite foods. Always.
"Why are you still thinking about them? All you need is me."
Soft kisses and gentle touch.
"You are so amazing. No one ever appreciated you, did they? They didn't stop long enough to really look."
Constant bondage. Whumpee needs to rely on Whumper for every single thing. Every bite of food. Sip of water. Bathing. Everything they need only comes from Whumper's hands.
"What would you do without me? Really. Go back to them? Back to a life of stress an expectations? Isn't this better?"
New clothes. New hair. New everything. Whumpee starts to forget who they are.
"I told you you'd warm up to me."
That first time that Whumpee leans into Whumper's touch. Probably after a punishment. They're so tired. And Whumper is so warm and kind. They just...drift...
"Isn't this better?"
Whumper only un-gags Whumpee if they 'use their nice words'. Once Whumpee tries to snap at them, beg for Whumper to let them go, or say anything that suggests they don't want to be there, Whumper shoves the gag back in so they can 'think it over and try again later'.
"Can...can you stay with me? Just a little longer." "Of course, darling."
Whumper hand-feeding Whumpee. The intimacy and the trust they have to partake in if they want to eat.
"Tell me you love me. Say it."
Whumper who brands their Whumpee. Whumpee knows they'll never be the same again - they'll always be marked.
"There we go. Isn't 'please' so much nicer to say than 'no'?"
When they stop hesitating to say it.
"No...no please." "Shh...this will help you sleep. I won't leave you, I promise."
Whumper pulling Whumpee close, holding them tight as they try to struggle away. Gently petting their hair and humming until Whumpee's thrashing slows to a stop. They give into the embrace, sobbing into Whumper's shoulder.
"You don't need to think. I'll do that for you. You just rest."
Whumper breaks Whumpee's legs so Whumpee has to rely on them for everything. Thought of escape seem impossible.
"Did you really think I wouldn't notice? You can't lie to me. I know everything about you."
Whumpee vaguely remembers that they used to fight. They used to kick and scream and spit. They just can't remember why.

So I have a character that has been in captivity for at least a year now, a lot of the time spent there the capture used drugs to weaken them and keep them down. How would a sudden withdrawal of those drugs feel to my character?? And also in your opinion what kind of drugs would do just that. Weaken them significantly, but keep them conscious and coherent.
The list of withdrawal symptoms can be pretty long!
Anxiety, panic attacks, restlessness, irritability
Social isolation, lack of enjoyment, fatigue, poor appetite
Insomnia, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
Poor concentration, poor memory
Headaches, dizziness
Chest tightness, difficulty breathing
Racing heart, skipped beats, palpitations
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach aches
Muscle tension, twitches, tremors, shakes, muscle aches
Sweating, tingling
Benzodiazepines like alprazolam (Xanax), clonazepam (Klonopin), diazepam (Valium), and lorazepam (Ativan) can make them feel drowsy or weak for a few hours to several days, depending on which one they take, but they shouldn’t be unconscious or incoherent unless they were to take too much.

I have a whumpee who's been held hostage and drugged so he doesn't fight back. When the whumpee is freed is there other affects of the drugs that I should expect along with confusion, barely any consciousness, and weakness?
Well, what drug is he being given? Different drugs have different side effects.

‘Overall decent person with a moral code descends into a corruption arc after realizing an awful truth about the universe and coping with it in the worst way possible’ is such an underrated concept especially for a protagonist

Writing thoughts for previously hurt/abused/neglected characters
Okay, so you know your character's past. You know they're still affected by that past, even if it's been years since that Thing happened. I feel like there are a couple of self-soothing things they would do:
Always wearing long sleeves, sweaters, or hoodies. (Maybe to hide scars, maybe because being wrapped up or covered is soothing.)
Blankets everywhere! Being warm is soothing, and blankets offer a certain amount of warmth, cover, and a mental shield of sorts. It's hard to catch this character not wrapped in a blanket while chilling on the couch reading or watching a movie.
Hesitant to initiate touch, or flinches when another character physically reaches for them, regardless of intent. It could be an intimate moment where their love interest is simply reaching to brush their hair back from their face, and your character flinches. It's an ingrained, unconscious response to past hurt or abuse, and it can take YEARS to break out of it. (Ask me how I know.)
Wary of others' intent towards them. Whether this in the form of friendship or romance, their past makes them wary of others because they've been tricked before by someone who seemed wonderful at the outset, only to show their true colors later on.
Insanely grateful to others for just being treated like a human being with thoughts and feelings of their own. It's been so long since they haven't been expected to fill a certain role, and were just allowed to BE. They're finally starting to realize (if they weren't already aware) that their past was unhealthy, which is the first step towards recovery. If the other character(s) also give them the tools to rebuild their life (a place to stay, assist with finding a job/going back to school, feeding and/or clothing them, getting them into therapy, etc), those other characters are looking at to-the-death loyalty.
In the case of past neglect, your character is probably touch-starved. They may or may not seek out touch, but nearly any touch from others will make them SUPER happy, even if it's accidental. If allowed, they would probably be very tactile with others (hugging, holding hands, cuddling, etc)--regardless of platonic or romantic status. However, they may be hesitant to seek out such touch, so other characters may have to initiate it and assure them that it really is okay to seek out touch.
Anxiety and/or depression is common, and COMPLETELY NORMAL! It takes time for your character to find an even keel, and a healthy support network is crucial for them. If they need medical intervention in some way (therapy sessions, medications, hospital stays for the really severe incidents), that is also normal, and nothing to be ashamed of. Depending on their society or personal history, they may still carry feelings of shame at their perceived weakness, and/or forcing others (by the situation) to take care of them.
Just throwing these out there, in case anyone finds this helpful! Feel free to add things I may have missed!

Hello!
I was wondering if you could do some hurt/comfort prompts, but not the dialogue, like the gestures or showing affection? Things they do to make the other person feel better, etc.. The character I'm writing was in an orphanage for two years so she's touch starved or just wants the physical comfort she didn't get. Would really appreciate it if you gave me some prompts/tips. Also the character comforting her isn't someone who would usually do hugs and stuff like that but they make an exception for her. Tysm :-)
Hi :)
Showing comfort
putting their hand on the other's shoulder
taking the other's hand
and stroking the back of the other's hand with their fingers
and squeezing the other's hand
leaning their forehead against the other's forehead
cradling the other's arm/holding it close to their chest
stroking the other's hair
laying a hand on the other's thigh
giving them a comforting smile
laying their head on the other's shoulder
Hope this is what you were looking for!

You know what I’m a slut for? When there’s some sort of fight or accident and whumpee takes a bad fall, caretaker/friend comes over and asks if they’re okay, they say yes, take caretaker’s hand and lift themself back up, except as soon as they put their weight back on their feet they hiss/gasp as searing pain shoots up out of their sprained or broken foot, saying “nope, not okay” as they almost collapse, if not for caretaker thinking fast and catching them.
I AM TOO
