Okay so from what I can tell in my highly uneducated guessing is this.

Chuuya is not dead.

Vampires are unable to drown. They can hold their breath for an eternal amount of time

Whether the "bubbles stop" or not.

Chuuya seems uncured of his vampirism from what I can see

This means he's still got the mortality abilities of a vampire right?

Dazai probably would've done it differently if chuuya was actually going to die

Dazai cares about chuuya whether he wants to admit it or not, he puts chuuya's needs before the missions in several occasions from what I've seen

Chuuya also is a lot more emotionally vulnerable than dazai

I'd say chuuya and dazai both aren't acting like they would if he was actually dying

What am I missing here.
