4 Activities Your Child can do During Holiday Break to Keep Learning
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a546cc5399935c692181cfc7f801da05/40d6b544cc2214e2-5e/s540x810/54a9bcb350d7108c100e1ab4253b1742f22c7ff8.jpg)
It’s already well into fall and before you know it, it will be winter and the holiday break from school. For many families, this leaves parents with a lot of time to fill. You certainly don’t want your child sitting around watching television and playing video games all day long. You know this isn’t good for them, and often sets them up for a tough time transitioning back to school in January. So- what are some better options?
#1 Take them out into the world. Your child can finally say goodbye to the classroom walls for a few weeks! Take your child out and let them actually experience things first hand. Visit a museum, go for a walk in the park (bundled up of course!), look up at the night sky, see the animals in the zoo, and more. Are there any free concerts or plays around the area this holiday season? There usually is. Attend a production to expose your little one to the arts. Pictures and words only do so much; let them really see it! They’ll go back to school with so many stories to tell.
#2 Sign them up for a science camp in NYC. A STEM camp provides a fantastic way to keep kids active and mentally stimulated while having a blast! Plus, campers get to keep their projects so the fun continues at home. When you sign your child up for a STEM camp in NYC, they’ll think they’re getting to have fun all break long. You’re the only one who will know how much learning they are doing!
#3 Attend a yoga or other exercise class. It’s often too cold to play outside. That doesn’t mean your child can’t stay active this winter. Bring them to yoga, gymnastics, ninja, or any other type of indoor activity class. They’ll have a blast and they won’t be so hyper once they’re back home. You may be surprised just how great this kind of physical activity is for someone their age.
#4 Take them shopping with you. You do a lot of math every day, and probably don’t even think about it. When you have errands to run, bring your child along and have them help. Not only will it make them feel very grown-up and important, it will also help them to practice mental math skills. For instance, if you’re cooking two pieces of chicken a piece for four people in your family, ask your child to figure out how many chicken breasts to buy. If your tween is a bit older, you can ask them more difficult questions, like determining which box of cereal is a better deal based on the price and how much is in the box.
Whether you choose a science camp in NYC, a free play at the community theater, or a yoga class, make sure your child has enough time dedicated to learning and enriching over the holiday break.

4 Exciting and Educational Ways for Your Child to Learn STEM
Rather than teach Science, Technology, Engineering and Math as separate, STEM integrates them into a cohesive learning experience. It’s easy to see how you’d need to understand both technology and engineering to build a robot, or both math and technology for coding. The Benefits of Signing up for a Python Group Coding School in Manhattan, NY
As technology moves forward at a record pace, it’s important for us to keep up. You want your teen to have the best chance at success. That means setting them up with the skills to get a job in tomorrow’s job market, with the right kind of skills. No skill is more in demand right now and will be for years to come, than coding. To put it very plainly, coding is what makes it possible for us to create computer software, apps, and websites. Learning coding seems like an impossible endeavor, but it certainly is not. It’s quite literally learning an entirely new language, but with private group coding classes in New York, your teen will master it in no time!
Computer programing is here to stay! It might be difficult to imagine a young mind learning something so seemingly complex, but it's a very attainable goal. Consider the following benefits of signing your teen up to learn how to code:
#1 Coding is an in-demand job. As mentioned above, this is a much-sought-after job skill. Computing jobs are growing at over twice the national average. According to recent studies, 71% of all new STEM jobs are in computing, yet only 8% of STEM graduates are in Computer Science. That’s a big shortage of the right workers. Learning to code will increase your teen’s odds of securing a lucrative career. Coding has quickly become a vital skill, and those who can do it well can easily earn more than the average.
#2 It gives your teen an advantage when applying for college. Today’s college admission industry is an extremely competitive field. Your teen needs to fill out their forms with impressive skills to be in the top of the pack. Coding does this! If your teen possesses an in-demand skill that many others lack, they instantly appear more desirable in the eyes of college admissions officers.
#3 Your teen will better understand the world around them. Look around you- we use advanced technology for nearly every facet of our daily lives. Yet most of us have no idea how any of it works. Knowledge of coding will open your teen’s eyes to how their tablet, smartphone, laptop, GPS, and many other tech devices work. Basic coding and programming knowledge will change the way he or she interacts with the technologies we all use.
#4 It’s a great way to boost their self-confidence. Possessing a skill like this is a fantastic way to keep your teen occupied and learning in a positive way. It’s fun and satisfying to master a new skill, and this self-confidence booster is exactly what many teens need in their lives.
Coding is not easy, but it is actually simple to grasp once you have the right instruction. Any new task always seems impossible from the start and is, in fact, impossible if you don’t take all of the necessary steps beforehand. In order for your teen to succeed in coding, sign him or her up for Python group coding school in manhattan NY. This way, your teen will have a solid foundation from which to explore their new skills.
