It’s time to kill the idea of white women as leads in movies as “baby steps! :)” toward inclusion of women of color and that WoC and PoC generally need to pay to see these films otherwise Hollywood will never include WoC/more PoC because “Hollywood only listens to money.”
People proffering this argument are either gullible, not paying attention, have no understanding of how racism works in Hollywood, or all three.
Hollywood knows that Black movies and shows make money (I’m focusing on Blackness because it’s what I know and antiblackness exists in all communities). Straight Out of Compton made money, Selma made money, 12 Years a Slave made money, Tyler Perry’s movies make money (much to my chagrin), and those are just some recent ones. There is a history of Black cinema and films that made money. Empire, Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder are led by Black women and Empire has a predominately Black cast, and they’re wildly popular shows.
Black people and other PoC have money and we have and will continue to spend it in theaters to see films that feature us. HOLLYWOOD IS WELL AWARE OF THIS. Stop believing and proliferating their tired excuses and lies.
The issue is that Hollywood only cares about a specific type of money: white money.

What the term POC is supposed to do: Replace the word minority, which can have negative connotations, and vaguely describe any group of people who aren’t white
What the term POC is NOT supposed to do:
Replace the word black when you’re talking SPECIFICALLY about black people
Allow non black POC to make their struggles and black struggles interchangeable
Allow non black POC to be anti black under the guise of “solidarity”
This has been a public service announcement.

Hey there, I'm a blogger of color and would like to submit something but I don't know what to categorize my channel as its mostly diy videos, also is there a limit to how much following a person can have before they don't count as unrepresented?
There are different types of un-representation(is that a word, omg) in my opinion. A person who has a higher subscriber or view count that is a person of color could still not get the same treatment or be valued as high as the next non-POC or a lighter skin POC who is at the same “level” as them.
You’re a DIY blogger! I forgot to put that as an option so thank you for reminding me. You can submit your content and it’ll be under the DIY category that I’m about to go add now. BUT, if you do have other different types of videos or post on your channel/blog (such as, beauty videos and diy videos) then you would be both.

Today, on the 60th anniversary of Emmett Till’s death, I did an impromptu & unorganized black history lesson. I didn’t intend to do this but like the last tweet says, sometimes I get jacked about history & just go off. I might expand this & make it longer in the coming days.
