As life takes its course
By: Chloe De Guzman
They say you can find an actuality of light
By the end of the deep caliginous tunnel
But what if my eyes grow irredeemably blind
By staying too long in the dark
Why does the rainbow have to come
Only when the rain has induced the flood
Why does the rainbow show its hope
When I have completely drowned in the deluge
Can you conceive the difficulty of grasping for air
When there are stones tied to your feet
Hauling you down as you suffer and drown
In the deep oceans of agony
The thought of having my demise to come
Does not bring me any fear
For it is a thought of finally having peace
For eternity, if I will.

Goodbye
By: Jovelyn Tabbu
Saying goodbye might be sad
But we should not say that it is bad
We should remember our memories
And also the unforgettable stories
Time flies so fast
But our experience will always last
We will find different ways
For I know that this world is like a big maze
Life may be tough
But we should not forget to laugh
For every single smile
Will help us reach a mile
Don't feel sorrow
As if there’s no tomorrow
Always remember
I am here, forever.

Love of a Teacher
By: Chris Mackenzie G. Abella
I once had a teacher
With patience and power
A friend and a mother
That remains in our hearts forever
A gift from God above
A hero to keep with love
Who inspired each one of us
Who keeps us forever in their hearts
A teacher is a friend to keep
A mother whose love is so deep
A counselor that wipes our tears
A teacher, a friend that removes our tears
Life of ours is completed by you
The sound of your voice that defines you
The eyes of ours that reflects you
That made us love and respect you
This is the love of a teacher like you
A love that is so true
Goodness and kindness inculcated by you
Thank you and we love you.

Wala siyang kapantay Dahil lagi syang nakabantay. Lahat saamin kanyang ibinigay At itinuring kaming pantay-pantay. Lahat ng pagod ay kinaya Makita lang kaming masaya. Lahat sa amin ay ipa-uubaya Lahat din ay kanyang kinakaya para sa aming pamilya.

Japanese exchange program: Cultivating friendships and memories far greater than 1,908 miles
By: Chloe De Guzman
My experience of being a student delegate to participate in the Japanese exchange program was one of the most indelible memories in my life. It didn’t just give me new life experiences of going to a different country and meeting people of different nationalities. It made me acquire a new perspective about friendship, family, and cultural values.
My host sister’s name was Momoko Ino, and my host parents were Kaoru Ino and Chiaki Ino. Their family didn’t just accommodate me during my 11-day stay in Tokyo, Japan. They made me feel like I was a real part of their family. I thought that I’d be nervous and awkward around my host family—staying with a family that I have never met was quite nerve wrecking. But they made me feel comfort and love just like my own family.
I remember arriving at Narita Airport and instantly seeing how different Japan was from the Philippines. Aside from their seemingly more advanced recreational technology, the discipline and punctuality portrayed by the locals was unlike any other. It was about 16 degrees Celsius when we arrived, but Mr. Yamamoto, the director of the exchange program, welcomed us with a warm heart.
In all honesty, everything about Tokyo made me feel at awe. Their fascinatingly clean streets, their time-punctual express trains, and the discipline of the Japanese impressed me. Following stop lights and escalator lanes was such a necessity, not one citizen would dare to disobey the rules. And time, was such an important thing. Unlike the Filipino time, Japanese people are always on time. That is something that most Filipinos should look up to.
My host family took me to different landmarks, like the big Buddha temple at Enoshima Kamakura, the fascinating bamboo garden called Houkokuzi, the breath taking Mt. Fuji and of course, Disneyland! They also made me eat classic Japanese foods. Some are already my favorite, like Ramen, Tonkatsu, and Tempura. But I also tasted other food such as walabimotchi, koroke, gyoza, okonomiyaki, and my newest favorite, karage. My host mom’s home cooking, was one of the best that I have ever tasted.
Our stay at St. Margaret High School was also an unforgettable memory. The facilities and the curriculum in St. Margaret was very different much more advanced than ours. Their 2 story library, their laptop rooms, their multi-functional room with i-pods, their indoor gymnasium, indoor pool, and dance studio are examples of St. Margaret’s amazing aspects.  It was such an honor to be a guest in their school. The students were so congenial and kind. Some students were inevitably shy, but most really made us feel welcomed. I also acquired new friends such as Norika, Yui, Fumika, Mao, and Yagichan. They were the closest to me.
During the highly awaited for school festival, each school club prepared booths for the parents and students to go around in. there was also an open stage, and an amazing performance by the dance club. But what really caught my attention was how each student independently cooperated to bring the school festival to life. The teachers only supervised but the students were the ones who set up all of the equipment and organized the events, no help of janitors needed. They were also responsible of accommodating the guest and other parents who arrived. They have truly captured my heart.
We had a chance to say our speeches during the farewell program. It made me feel sad to leave them upon returning to our home country. But overall, I feel blessed beyond compare to have been given that opportunity.

Learning around the Metro
By: Chester A. de los Santos
Last January 10, 2019 the awaited educational field trip of grade 5 to grade 9 students, excluding grade 6 students, came.  The venue for this year’s fieldtrip was just around Metro Manila.
Their first destination was on Philippine science centrum. The students enjoyed and discovered new things about science. It is located at riverbanks avenue, Marikina City.
The students went back to Quezon City and head over to Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC). They went to the newly opened Presidential car museum to see the cars of the former presidents of the Philippines. Even Aguinaldo’s gig was there.
After going to the Presidential car museum, the students were given the time to eat lunch and go around the memorial circle. Students catch up with each other’s experiences on the past venue.
The group was divided into two groups so that the ABS-CBN studio experience can accommodate everyone. The ABS-CBN studio experience truly a “barkada” get away. The activities and stations are good for a groups of people. You can experience to be inside of Pinoy Big Brother’s house and be one of the housemates or be a contestant of Minute to Win and do some fun and competitive challenges against your friends.
After all the exhausting and fun activities at the previous venues, the students went at the La Mesa Eco Park. At first glance you would be thinking “what am I supposed to do here?” and when you start to walk through the park you’re met with this wonderful and luscious landscape. It is filled with different variety of trees, plants, and flowers. You won’t feel worn-out while walking. It’s a place where you could just forget about your problems and just unwind. At the end of the tour there is a challenging 100 step stairs where at the top you can see the beauty of the La Mesa dam and the landscape of the park. Although, you can’t take pictures of the actual dam for security and safety measures of the park. The rule “Leave no trace, only take pictures” was observed. You can truly say that Mother Nature can be saved if everyone else work together.
After all the tiring and exhausting activities it was time to go back to school and cherish the moments of this year’s educational fieldtrip. It left the students a lot of memories and stories to share with their family and friends.
