God the Raven Queen's story is actually so tragic. She gave up mortality, something she admits she misses everyday, for the person she loved. She did this, knowing she would never get to see him again and that by ascending she was essentially killing him. An act of love that signed away her own life and future. It's no wonder Vax saw in her eyes a deep loneliness. Her godly existence was born from losing everything and everyone she loved to honour the wishes of the person most dear to her, and she didn't even get to spend that existence with him.

Ever After High is like what if being doomed by the narrative was legally inherited, only being “doomed by the narrative” is actually the school to prison pipeline, only the “school to prison pipeline” is a piece of paper that reads “I will commit crimes and go to jail”, only the piece of paper is a Faustian contract and if you sign it you WILL inevitably commit crimes and go to jail, only the Faustian part is that if you don’t sign it your literature teacher will force you to. Because you’re a ninth grader.

I started drawing the Ever After High girls in random historical fashion eras… why? I have no idea

Raven Queen in 1890s, Apple White in Italian Renaissance.

Briar Beauty in 1920s, Madeline Hatter in 1880s

No particularly reason for the eras, just the vibe I get from the characters and their designs!

I think it'll be funny if Kitty Cheshire had actual cat ears and human ears and when asked why she has 4 ears she just says "oh these are fake, it's just for the aesthetic" "makes sens-" then she takes off her fake human ears.

C. A. Cupid being unable to fly makes sense when it comes to her being a former bone elemental

She probably doesn't even know how to fly because she had wings made only out of bone for most of her life

Like yeah, she's surrounded by fairies and winged creatures who could teach her how to fly, but she herself still wouldn't immediately become the best flyer because she'd likely be trying to get used to having feathers on her back now

Seriously, she's as old as teenage love (however old that is, let's assume that she's really, really old), living 99% of her life with poor archery skills, wings made of pure bone and no feathers, and mysterious monster biology that not even she understands

Of course she's not going to know how to immediately fly after one year of attending EAH

Imagine the amount of time she'd have to find chiton outfits that would fit with her new wings, the hours it would take to have her learn how to properly fly, and the time it'll take to learn how to properly clean them after certain celebrations (roses are likely not the best idea to use when it comes to decorating your wings, with or without their thorns)

Her feathers could be something that she'd have to grow into, much like a baby bird growing into their own wings before she can properly learn how to fly

Gaining her feathers would likely be uncomfortable to deal with, molting and fluffing up under certain emotional episodes, likely hating the feeling at first considering how used she is to her hard, bony wings, and so on

Just imagine a teenage goddess who isn't perfect or good at everything, but instead being like a normal ass teenager and learning how to do shit when it comes to taking care of her new wings

This was the animation test that got me my job as Lead Character Designer on the Steven Universe Movie and Steven Universe Future. My favorite part is the first one, where I got to design my own gem fusion. I also had to do a turn of Snowflake Obsidian and a Pose/Expression sheet of Opal, and Garnet in a wedding dress based on a board. Working on the movie and show was such a dream, I miss it <3
