the sims 4 it girls: a nine generation legacy challenge
i decided to create my own themed legacy challenge for the sims 4. this challenge is similar to challenges like nsb, ditft, etc. except this time it’s themed around the music it girls!
if you’re unaware, the music it girls refer to songs which sing about a specific girl by name (ex. jolene, hey there delilah, come on eileen, etc.). this challenge takes inspiration from 9 different it girls and each generation is based on one of them. besides that, the rules don’t differ from any other standard legacy challenge.
please tag me if you do this and use #itgirlslegacy because i’d love to see what you make of it! this is my first time designing a challenge for ts4 and my first post in the community, so feedback if very much appreciated!

Not So Berry Legacy Challenge
Do you like the rainbow? Do you like the idea of playing with berry Sims but hate berry Sims? Do you want to mess around with aspects of the game you’ve never used before? Boy, do I have the challenge for you!
Welcome to the Not So Berry Legacy Challenge, a ten generation legacy with a focus on bright colors and new experiences.
Basic Rules:
Each heir must represent the color of the generation (i.e. hair, makeup, clothing), but brightly colored skin is not necessary (these aren’t actually berry Sims, that’s the joke). Of course, this is optional but a big portion of the fun.
The colors of the spouses don’t matter as they aren’t part of the challenge. Unless otherwise stated you can do whatever you please with them.
Money cheats can be used, but not excessively. Suggestion: use freerealestate for your first home, but no cheats afterward.
You may live wherever you please unless something is specified in the rules of a generation.
Every generation is supposed to complete both the career and aspiration of the heir unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Keep the lifespan on normal.
If you play this challenge and want to share it with us, go ahead and post with #notsoberry so we can see!
My good friend @alwaysimming and I kind of created this challenge on accident, but I think it turned out pretty great. We wanted to make something that forced us to play with parts of the game we’ve never explored before. Hopefully you’ll have fun too. You can follow our gameplay on @mintiphresh and @lea-fey (pronounced “minty fresh” and “leafy”)!

guess who's back, back again
lol jk but seriously, guys, Hope Brooklyn and I decided that our challenge needed a little ✨spice✨ so we changed things up! Some generations are the same, some are completely different, and some just have a few small changes. The biggest one you'll notice is we changed Gen 3 from Lemon to Grapefruit and completely changed that entire generation and we're much more excited about this one than we were about the other lol. We FINALLY finished our occults portion of this challenge and wanted to release this beforehand for all of you! We are going to keep the other rules up (you can find them here) so if you like that version better you can play that one instead! Either way we hope you have fun playing our challenge and we can't wait to see your sims through #fruitylegacychallenge!
You can also tag us on instagram - Hope Hay Brooklyn
Hope is going to be doing a play through of the new rules over on her instagram, and I'll be posting updates here on tumblr. I'll also be posting updates on my second instagram account occasionally!
Occults: Coming this week👀

If you like adding drama, creating stories with your sims and color coordinating them, then you’ve found the right legacy challenge for you! This is a ten generation legacy that revolves around berries and colors that you can base your sims on.
This legacy challenge, as of right now, uses multiple packs.
I don’t want any control over your gameplay and/or story. I want you to make this all your own, so if you want to use cheats or anything like that go right ahead. If you want to start with 0 simoleons to make it even more challenging, do what your heart desires. Any traits, aspirations, careers, etc you think could be something else, use that instead. I truly just want everyone to have fun with this! Make this challenge your own, that’s what it’s here for!
If you decide to do this challenge tag me on instagram @strawberrysimyt or use #sweetestberrylegacy
You'll be able to find my gameplay here.

The Sour Legacy Challenge
Did I make a legacy challenge based on Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour? Yes, I did.
The overall guidelines are pretty loose here. Obviously there’s a lot to accomplish each generation, but I tried to make it so there is plenty of room for freedom too. And if you’re not feeling an aspiration or have a career you’ve been meaning to try - go ahead and switch it up if you think it makes sense! Just try to pick something that isn’t already in the challenge.
Go as wild as you desire with mods and lifespans and the like. Feel free to make this your own (just don’t repost this as your own, yah feel?).
If you decide to play it yourself, tag me & hashtag #sourlegacychallenge, so I can see other people enjoy it too.
And if you have any questions, feedback or wcif’s, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Also hi 👋 I’m new here. Nice to meetcha.
xoxo, dizzywhims

Rags to Riches Challenge Live the Farm Life Edition, by Orianas SimStudio
Hello, hello!!
Ok, I'm absolutely obsessed with the new pack for The Sims 4, Cottage Living, then again who isn't? It has everything we wanted and more!!! I can't handle the cuteness of the bunnies, the chickens, the ducks???
Tumblr media
Everything is amazing! I can't remember the last time I've been so caught up with gameplay. I haven't even built anything yet!!!
So, I did something... After seeing so many Simmers playing the challenge 'Rags to Riches' with the new pack (one of them being @misslollypopsims), I went searching for some specific rules for Cottage Living. I even asked her but like me, she couldn't find any... So, what did I do? If you said: "she created her own" you'd be absolutely correct!
I designed a completely new challenge adapting the 'Rags to Riches' rules to the Cottage Living gameplay. And oh boy, it's not an easy one... but we love challenges, right? Right?... Let's say yes.
Tumblr media
So, I'll be playing my own challenge live on Twitch (follow me on IG to know when I'll be live) together with laursimming (check out her IG and YouTube, she's incredible). Oh and btw, the voice you hear on the promo below?? That's hers!! Isn't she amazing??
Join us live on Twitch to learn about all the rules, and watch me struggle while I play-test the challenge and regret all the difficulties I created with this new challenge!
Join us, while we Live The Farm Life!
Tumblr media
youtube
Tumblr media
You can download a printing option of the challenge rules here (with checkboxes to keep track of your tasks and handy checklists): TS4 R2R Challenge - Live the Farm Life Edition, by Orianas SimStudio
And if you want the official logo to use on your own posts/videos, you can download the transparent one here (please do not edit/change/crop the logo): R2R Challenge - Live the Farm Life Edition, by Orianas SimStudio Official Logo
Guidelines
You can’t use cheats - only the ones to take money out, move objects or CAS editing
You and your spouse/partner cannot hold jobs, so make sure to live farm life to the fullest
At the beginning, you can’t sleep in your lot until you have a bed. You can instead have a tent, and sleep in public places
You can only eat what you pick and you can cook on your lot if you have a fire pit (in the beginning) and if you have the ingredients
You can’t keep the money earned from your hobbies, unless it’s from cross-stitching or flower arrangements (more about this on The Farm Life Goals)
This challenge can go through as many generations as you like, so it’s up to you how quickly you want to achieve the big goals. Except for the specific ones for the founder and their spouse/partner, all the other goals won’t have a time limit
As a teen, you can go to school or not, it’s up to you
Little tip: Start with the Mayor for the errands. Their tasks are the starter ones and will help you get to know the community and the world
If you want to play in the same lot as I am (built by laursimming), you can download it from both our galleries (orianassimstudio or laursimming)
Starting the Challenge
Lifespan: Normal
Autonomy: Full
Age to start: Teen
Aspiration: Country Caretaker
Traits: Animal Enthusiast + two of your choice Trait 1: ______________________ Trait 2: ______________________
No likes or dislikes! Your sim must naturally gain these
Start on the empty lot from Henford-on-Bagley and your lot must have the Simple Living and Wild Foxes challenges (remove the Off the Grid challenge that is already pre-set for the lot or keep it if you want an even bigger challenge). No lot traits (eg. great soil etc.) can be applied until after finishing your degree, because as you know, you first must learn how to improve your lot for a farm. On completion, you may add any you like
Starting Funds
You must start with 0 simoleons
You can only earn money from errands and selling fish in the market shops. You can’t earn money from crops or animals until you have completed your degree
No sales from inventory! Never. Ever! Immerse yourself in the community by either selling on the market stalls, or having your own selling table
Building the Farm
You must gain the following skill levels: Logic: 3 Handiness: 3
You have to pay §500 to the council before you start building walls, you don’t want your neighbours complaining about the noise!
To move on to the next set of goals, you have to have at least one of each: Toilet Bed Shower or tub Sink Stove Chair or sofa Counter Fridge
Working the Land
You must complete every task for Building the Farm because you are living here forever and, you need a proper home
You have to have a Biology uni degree to start earning money on your farm. You need to first learn the basics. Due to your rocky start in life, you don’t qualify for any scholarships, so you can’t apply for those. No distinguished degree here… If you don’t own Discover University, you must pay §3000 to keep going, this is roughly the cost of the degree - think of it as online tuition fees in real life
You can’t live on campus, you have to stay on your lot
Pause aging up while in uni, but while you are attending, you can’t earn any money. Plan wisely before going
Always choose 4 classes so you speed through your semesters, but also to add difficulty at this stage
The only things you can develop while aging is paused are relationships, the skills you have to develop in your classes, and of course the ones you can’t control and happen through gameplay (eg. cooking to live!)
Before you are able to build a proper crop garden and have livestock, you should have completed all the above rules
You must pay §500 to the contractors to received the blueprints for your land
Include a pond on your lot. You can add any animals to it
From now on, you should live wholly off your land and produce from the animals. Don’t forget, if you stock your ponds with fish, you can sell catches in the village markets or via the selling tables. Or eat it!
A Functional Farm
To enjoy life on your farm, and after completing all the above assignments, you need to have a fully functional home so you can progress in life. For that you need to have at least:
A living area/room
A kitchen area
2 or 3 bedrooms
A dining space
2 bathrooms
An office area, so you can manage all daily runnings of the farm
Prepare to have a Family
Everything above should be completed. Find the love of your life! You can already have met them or find a new Sim or create a new one
If you create your spouse/partner in CAS, make sure to randomise their traits. The starting aspiration should be the Country Caretaker, so they learn the farm life
If your spouse/partner is a townie Sim, change their aspiration to Country Caretaker as soon as you marry them. Again, they need to learn the farm life
Marry your chosen one and pay for that wedding (costs § 1000), or if you don’t want to marry, simply deduct the same amount from your household - you still need to pay for the civil partnership license!
Everything they bring to the marriage/partnership, must be taken out. You can’t keep the money or the furniture
Expand your Family
To have kids, you have to be married/living together first
You must have §5000 saved up in order to have a child. Kids are expensive!
You can have/adopt as many kids as you want
You must reach the minimum parenting skill of level 3
You must not age your kids, you must wait for them to naturally grow
If you are playing the challenge through several generations, the heir must always have good grades and at least 2 skills max’d out. The ‘responsible’ trait here is advised, but not mandatory
Teenagers can’t have part-time jobs, they need to help with the farm and/or run errands to earn money for the family piggy bank
Have grandchildren, be a loving grandparent
Aspiration Goals
You must complete the Country Caretaker aspirations for both you and your spouse/partner
The heir must complete their aspirations too (the child’s included)
Money Goals
You must have a house worth §100,000
You must have §200,000 in the household funds
For a more extended game, you can set the goal to reach §1,000,000
The Farm Life Goals
Have 1 cow
Have 1 llama
Have one flock of wild birds and one wild rabbit home on your lot
Dogs and cats are great additions to farm life
Have at least one full chicken coop but only have one rooster. You can trade your extra roosters for anything besides simoleons
Have one of each “normal” plant (meaning, vegetables, fruits and herbs that are normal to humans - you can see the checklist on the printing version). You can have all the others if you want, but no money tree. There’s no such thing in real life, and since I can’t get one in my real-life garden, none of you can in the game!
Earn, at least once, the first prize in each fair category
Have one jam/conserve of each type displayed
You can sell your extra jams/conserves and wools at the market stalls or on your own selling table
If taking up the cross-stitching hobby, first display one of each design on a wall in your home, as you’re very proud of your work. Once your ‘hobby wall’ is finished, you can then create pieces to sell
You can’t craft items, unless you have the necessary coloured wool. All the wool must come from your llama
You can order groceries, but only the ingredients you can’t produce yourself. For example, meat and sugar can be ordered via the grocery delivery option. We want to have our animals as friends, so they can produce the goodies we need
Befriend Agnes Crumplebottom. Good luck with that!

Stardew Cottage Living Challenge
** UPDATED 08/01/2021 **
Requirements: The Sims 4 Cottage Living
Highly Recommended: Eco Lifestyle and Seasons
Nice to Have: Cats & Dogs, Tiny Living
This challenge is inspired by the gameplay created by ConcernedApe for Stardew Valley! This is a Sims 4 challenge for the Cottage Living expansion pack that requires you to complete tasks to unlock the ability to progress your farm. It has elements of a rags-to-riches challenge as well! I tried to bring in some of the most enjoyable and iconic aspects of Stardew Valley’s gameplay into this challenge, but don’t worry, even if you haven’t played Stardew Valley this is still a fun challenge for the Cottage Living expansion that tries to give you the opportunity to use all the new gameplay features from this pack! This challenge is still a work in progress so feel free to comment with your experiences if you try this!
Create-A-Sim
Start with a single young adult Sim. Optionally, you can create a dog or cat for your Sim.
Recommended Traits:
Animal enthusiast
Loner
Loves Outdoors
Aspiration:
The Curator
Aesthetic:
Choose how you want your Sim to look and the style of their home, but I strongly recommend going full cottagecore!
Lifespan:
Normal, but it really doesn't matter. This challenge should take about one in-game year (or 8 weeks if you don't have Seasons). I turned aging off for Sims in the world to more easily complete the friendship requirements.
Move In
If you're playing with Seasons, set the Season to Spring!
Purchase the "2 Olde Mill Lane" lot in Henford on Bagley.
Set the following lot challenges:
Off-the-grid
Simple living
Wild foxes
Build a small one-room house and (optionally) design it to look like an old cabin. It should be one main room with plus a small bathroom.
Note: If you have the Tiny Living pack, it is fun and beneficial to start off with your lot set as a Tiny Residential Micro Home. You get skill gain and gardening bonuses and you can easily fit the starting items in a 32x32 lot! I have one on the Gallery with all the starting items already in it. Search honeybrewsims to find it!
To start off, you can buy:
Kitchen:
Fridge
Stove
Sink
Counters and cabinets
A small table and one chair
Garbage can
Pet bowl (if you're using pets)
Bedroom / Greatroom:
A single bed
Bookcase
Cross-stitch box
Outdoor
Outdoor garbage
2 packs of starter vegetable seeds
3x In-ground garden patches
Bathroom
Toilet
Shower
Sink
Mirror
Other
Whatever lighting you need
Note: If you have multiple choices for these items (i.e. there are multiple off-grid fridges to choose from), you should purchase the cheapest available option. This rule only applies for the initial set-up of your house.
Note: Do not change the lot terrain (no adding ponds).
Once you have your cabin set up, cheat your simoleons to 0.
The Calendar
(Optional, this is just for fun. Works with Seasons pack only)
Remove the standard holidays from the calendar (Harvestfest, Winterfest, etc.) and then make the following Stardew themed holidays instead!
Spring: Egg Festival
Traditions: hunt for eggs, Flower Bunny
Summer: Luau
Traditions: fire, barbecue
Fall: Spirit's Eve
Traditions: wear costumes, trick or treat
Winter: Feast of the Winter Star
Traditions: decorate, give gifts, open presents, festive spirit, grand meal
Gameplay Rules
1. Complete the following Aspirations, in this order:
The Curator
Freelance Botanist
Country Caretaker
2. Do not get a job. Only make money from your land (farming, animal husbandry, and creating items from these), crafting (cross-stitch, knitting, woodworking, candlemaking), and from collecting in the world.
3. Live on a lot that has the following three lot challenges active:
Off-the-Grid
Simple Living
Wild Foxes
4. Max out the following skills:
Gardening
Handiness
Fishing
Cross stitch
Cooking
Charisma
5. Complete all the Bundles listed below to earn the associated rewards.
6. Do not upgrade your house or buy any of the reward items listed in the Bundle Rewards until you earn them. Do not buy anything not listed as a bundle reward until you reach the fourth house upgrade. Then you may buy other items freely, unless it's a bundle reward item you have not yet unlocked.
7. Keep your farming to the garden patches you have unlocked. Do not intentionally plant extra plants directly in the ground (planting trees are the exception).
8. Max out the friendship bar with the following Sims:
The Pub Owner
The Creature Keeper
Grocery Store Owner
Grocery Store Delivery Person
Agatha Crumplebottom
Agnes Crumplebottom
The Mayor
One other person who lives in HoB
One rabbit, one flock of wild birds, and two foxes.
9. Complete three errands for each of the following people:
The Pub Owner
The Creature Keeper
Grocery Store Owner
Grocery Store Delivery Person
Agatha Crumplebottom
The Mayor
10. Do not get married or have anyone join your household until you complete the marriage requirements listed below (under “Getting Married”). You also essentially need to wait until you unlock the double bed to get married!
The Bundles
The idea behind Bundles (inspired by SV Community Centre Bundles) is to limit the expansion of your life and farm until you’ve gained some farming experience and earned rewards. There are three rules to Bundles:
When you are required to collect items (i.e. crops, frogs, fish, etc.) you must KEEP THEM until you have completed the bundle. Once you have the required items for a bundle, you may then do with them as you wish (including entering them into fairs or giving them as gifts).
You cannot buy any of the items that bundles unlock until you’ve completed the associated bundle.
You must still be able to afford the items that are unlocked by the rewards (i.e. no cheating money to get these items for free).
Frog Bundle
Collect 4 different common frogs, 4 different uncommon frogs, and 1 rare frog
Reward: Unlocks wind turbines (if you don’t have Eco Living, when you finish all three of the Fishing, Frog, and Canning Bundles, turn off the Off-the-Grid challenge instead)
Fishing Bundle
Catch a trout, bass, tilapia, catfish, and a rainbow fish
Reward: Unlocks the dew collector (if you don’t have Eco Living, when you finish all three of the Fishing, Frog, and Canning Bundles, turn off the Off-the-Grid challenge instead)
Canning Bundle
Create the following canned goods. You must use ingredients you grew or collected yourself (no grocery store ingredients except sugar).
mushroom conserve
custard
strawberry jam
raspberry jam
blueberry jam
blackberry jam
mayonnaise
aubergine conserve
watermelon conserve
chocolate syrup
pumpkin conserve
Reward: Unlocks solar panels (if you don’t have Eco Living, when you finish all three of the Fishing, Frog, and Canning Bundles, turn off the Off-the-Grid challenge instead) and the woodworking table
Spring Crops
Harvest and collect the following from your own garden: 20 mushroom, 20 strawberry, 20 green peas (with Seasons expansion only. If you don’t have seasons, do 30 strawberries and 30 mushrooms instead of 20)
Reward: Unlocks one chicken coop (you may buy fences to go with it)
Spring Herbs
Harvest and collect the following from your own garden: 40 parsley
Reward: Unlocks 3 more garden patches
Summer Crops
Harvest and collect the following from your own garden: 20 black beans, 20 tomato, 20 bell peppers (with Seasons expansion only. If you don’t have seasons, do 30 each of the other two crops).
Reward: Unlocks 1 animal pen (you may buy fences to go with it)
Summer Herbs
Harvest and collect the following from your own garden: 40 basil
Reward: Unlocks 3 more garden patches
Fall Crops
the following from your own garden: 20 carrots, 20 grapes, 20 green beans (with Seasons expansion only. If you don’t have seasons, do 30 each of the other two crops).
Reward: Unlocks unlimited chicken coops
Fall Herbs
Harvest and collect the following from your own garden: 40 sage
Reward: Unlocks 3 more patches and you may now add 3 patches to your farm every season for the rest of your life. If you need planter boxes for growing crops in the winter, you may now buy them.
Winter Crops
Harvest and collect the following from your own garden: 30 spinach, 30 potato, and 30 onion
Reward: Unlocks unlimited animal pens
Giant Crops
Harvest and collect a Large sized pumpkin, aubergine, watermelon, and lettuce head.
Reward: Unlocks an outdoor BBQ and you may build a pond on your property with a fishing sign.
Fair Bundle
Win first place at all four of the weekly fairs (Chicken, Garden, Cow, Oversized Crop):
Reward: Every win unlocks one of the four house expansions below.
House Expansions
When you complete the Fair Bundle by winning first place in each of the four fairs, you unlock a house expansion for every win. You must still be able to pay for the house expansion.
Expansion One:
Add a small living room area to the greatroom (keep the bed, kitchen, and living room in one room). Buy couches, end tables, armchairs, etc., if you choose. You may buy decorative plants and fireplaces for the house.
Expansion Two:
Your bedroom is now a separate room and you can have a double bed. Your kitchen can now be made into a separate room from your living room and you may add more chairs to your kitchen table and upgrade kitchen items and appliances if you can afford it. Buy whatever bedroom furniture you want. You may now buy rugs and mirrors.
Expansion Three:
Build a room that can serve as a children’s bedroom and furnish it with children’s furniture. You may buy anything you need to raise a child (like toddler stuff). You may now buy any item that counts as a decoration. You may buy better-quality bathroom items and a tub.
Expansion Four:
Buy whatever you want that isn’t locked as a bundle reward! Build your house as big as you want. You may now turn the Off-the-Grid challenge off if you so choose.
Getting Married:
Before proposing to another Sim you must gift the following items that you grew, made, or collected from the world to your prospective spouse:
1 perfect quality crop (grown by you)
1 perfect quality Large crop (grown by you)
1 perfect quality flower (grown by you)
1 canned Mayonnaise from your own eggs
1 pie cooked by you
1 uncommon collectible
1 rare collectible
1 excellent cross stitch

how a legacy blooms: a flower-based legacy challenge
Tumblr media
hi! i make a lot of gardener sims for some reason, so i had the idea to create this legacy challenge based on the ten flowers you can find in the sims 4 base game & their real-life flower meanings. the generations are loosely arranged based on the in-game flower rarities. i wanted to make sure i included gameplay opportunities, traits, and family dynamics that i didn’t really play with a lot, so that i would find new ways to play the game while playing through this myself.
the rules, generations, mod suggestions, and required packs are under the cut because this post is so long. putting it together took me a while so i hope you enjoy reading <3
